Hi guys,

It's been a while since I've last posted and I miss you guys. I see that patryn33 is still quite active - not sure how you do it bro, you must work at a watch store and use the computer all day, but I love that you are always on and sharing your insight with the community.

Two months ago I bought this watch. I hope this is considered an affordable watch - last time I posted my Panerai, everyone said I should have spend 1/4 the price and gotten another brand.

So here it:

Suunto Vector "Wrist-Top Computer"
[LCD does not have the bluish tone - just a single color, camera flash is playing tricks]

It is bad ass. I took it with me aboard a recent flight to read the cabin altimeter equivalent... about 8100ft (Virgin Atlantic Airbus A320 was flying at about 30,000 ft) It took about 20 min or so for the cabin to slowly depressurize to that level.
I hear that most aircraft pressurize to 8000ft equivalent, but high end carriers like Singapore and Emirates pressurize to 5000ft or so equivalent. Pretty neat.

The compass is cool, but it drains the battery, and so far I haven't had much use for it. The temp guage is only useful after you've taken the watch off for 30 min (otherwise it reads abnormally high).

Price is about Rm ~500 ish

I wear it nearly every day now and pretty much leave the rest of my watches in the safe.

Whats new?

Didn't like the Suunto? Here's another one of my contributions to the affordable watch thread:

Seiko 7S35 Automatic Dress Watch w/Leather Strap

A friend of mine in the states recommended I purchase from "Wayne's Watch World" at www.roachman.com in 2005.
I had planned a trip to Malaysia prior to this, and later learned that this guy deals out of a watch store in Penang.
So during my trip to Malaysia I was able to inspect it and pick it up at the store. At the time, of course, I did not know that I would be living on that beautiful island.
I also did not know that some thief would break into my home, including the lock on my room door, and steal my watch among other things.

The automatic movement was just "okay" and as good as expected for RM ~700. The counterweight/rotor did not spin as freely as the ones in ETA/Valjoux movements.
Quality and detail is fairly good - I might consider buying another one. Of all the well known mainstream brands, Seiko is one of my favorites. Great price for style, brand recognition, quality and ease of service. Yes inexpensive so many people own one, but they have a huge selection of styles.

Very elegant dress watch for nice occasions or even everyday wear. Many people think that it costs more than twice as much as what I paid. Seiko uses Hardlex instead of Sapphire Crystal.
Exhibition caseback with 23 jewels and 21,600 bph.

Cheers!

If you want a mass production watch (1+ million watches produced a year) I am not certain that spending RM 4,000 is the best way. If they are producing so many watches, it's really not that unique anymore, even though the price point is not exactly cheap. Plus a lot of people who just want the name get the F1 in quartz and pay a lot of money, for not a lot of watch. I think I'd rather have an Omega if I had to do one of those mass produced "luxury" brands, but that is strictly a matter of opinion. You can get a lot more watch buying a loaded Seiko, IMO - though many would argue that the Seiko brand is not quite up to par with Tag Heuer. That being said I do like them Monaco's.

Also, although I own a few, I am not a big fan of "fashion brand" watches. Sure there a lot of great designs by Armani, Dolce, etc, but those aren't real watch making houses per say. I was "taught" by a long standing community of watch enthusiasts when I had my first "expensive" watch many years ago. It was a Movado with the museum dial and two-tone stainless. I paid about RM 2,000 for it. I thought that this was considered high end luxury watch making.

Although, Cartier as a jeweler is fine. The LV watches, pure fashion, but very nice looking. Not sure if I'd ever own one though.

In the end, Like ck77, do what you want, because it is your money. I am just opinionated that way. =) Many people may not agree with my strange watch choices as well!

Actually i know that fashion houses watch are not really great choice.. bt with my limited budget i cant afford to get more expensive luxury brand such as omega ( i prefer zenith or rolex though) .. And i am a very brand conscious person so i'd have to pass for high end seiko because i am not really into the mechanicals stuffs anyway...

As for armani watch there is only one i want which is giorgio armani watch ... (not the emporio one) they only have 1 design if i am not mistaken ..

Yeah louis vuitton watches are nice looking considered them too bt after much thoughs they are too expensive

I definitely understand, and agree, Seiko won't have the panache as a Tag, and LV watches are quite overpriced.
There is one Gucci watch I like, and it's the digital model.
