Hi everyone, would like some advice on watch selection. I'm currently looking for a watch for everyday usage, currently i'm looking at Tissot and Victorinox, budget around 1-2k. May i know between these 2 brands, which offers better built quality? Or is there any other brands or models that can fit in my budget? Thanks.

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Aug 27 2010, 12:20 AM) btw these 2 brands.. build quality same same. Mind to give some examples of what are the other brands that i can look into? Cause honestly speaking i'm not very familiar with most of the brands listed in the list as i've never seen them in the local market. Thanks.comfortable with online shopping there are alot of other brands out there, maybe better value too. they should be listed on page 1 post 1. |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Aug 27 2010, 12:53 AM) such as Hamilton they are avail in the local market, online can get lower prices. Stowa is nice! But with my current budget, i think i'll only able to afford the basic Antea, lol... online brands - Guinand (used to make Sinn, now own by founder of Sinn) - Archemede - Christopher ward - Arsto - Vollmer - Zeno - Dievas - Steinhart - davosa watches - Stowa - autran-viala - dfreemontwatches.com personally I felt Christopher ward offer alot of watch for little money. Stowa too! esp those Antea watches. next is Guinand Christopher ward seems quite nice, never heard about it before this though. At that price point it is very attractive for the features it offers. Wonder how's the built quality of it, how does it fares against a Stowa? Between brands like Tissot, Victorinox and Stowa, is there much difference between the built quality? QUOTE(patryn33 @ Aug 27 2010, 06:32 PM) hands down Stowa is the best. For Stowa, what's the difference between the default ETA 2824-2 movement and the upgraded chronometer movement ETA 2824-2? the other 3 brands same same. CW movement maybe of higher grade than tissot/victorinox, Added on August 27, 2010, 6:39 pm anyway.. my 2 cents for over US$300 and its on Miyota Cal. 821A plus mineral crystal. A citizen watch on the same movement maybe cheaper. Laco may offer a better deal on those Pilot watches on Miyota movement. under US$290 https://shop.laco.de http://www.timequestwatches.com/id6.html I'm also looking at the Laco pilot watches, but where did you find the model with Miyota movement? Cause what i saw from their website is only the mechanical swiss movement at 490 euro and quartz model at 189 euro. |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Aug 27 2010, 06:58 PM) page 1 post 1 would show U the difference. Thanks man, miss the tabulation at the 1st post. Then may i know which kind of ETA 2824 is Christopher Ward using? Can't find the info on their website. Thanks.the ETA movement Stowa uses is Elabore grade, upgrades is COSC grade. whats is COSC? this would help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COSC laco may have discontinued those miyota movement watches. U can get them off other places that have stock. remember the Miyota don't hack, so when U pull the crown the second hand still move. an ETA 2824 hacks pulling the crown stop the second hand |

I'm currently looking for a watch for everyday usage, budget around rm2k. Currently considering the Stowas and the Tissot Visodate, but the waiting time for Stowa is going to take a couple of months, whereas the tissot can be purchased anytime. Can someone suggest a watch with similar designs (sleek and elegant) that can fit within my budget? Will only consider automatic movement, as it is just simply beautiful. Thanks.

Apart from Steinhart, is there any other similar options to Stowa (in terms of design) but at a lower price point? Prefer the diameter to be not more than 40mm. Thanks in advance.

Stowa!!!!! Soprod all the way... Is the Stowa suitable for everyday use? Cause the clean design seems more like a dress watch. Currently looking for a watch that can accompany me everyday and for all occasions. Thanks. |

QUOTE(fuzzy @ Sep 10 2010, 01:00 PM) Stowa definitely wins in terms of design, but quality wise I'd side with Tissot simply due to the nature of the Stowa beign a leather strap. It would take more care to protect it from wear and tear, and it otherwise not suitable for everyday usage. Yeah... That's what i'm thinking to. As for the 2 watches, which will be more value for money? Stowa or Tissot? Thanks. |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Sep 11 2010, 12:00 PM) CW new collection reminds me of Omega seamaster dial. The CW Trident pro looks cool... Quite nicely price also.http://www.christopherward.co.uk/men/sport...60-tri-skk.html ![]() |

QUOTE(supermac @ Sep 13 2010, 10:02 AM) using seagull movement ah , then should be not very good lo right and no ppl collect watches with seagull movement right ? For rm1k+ i think CW will be a nice choice, as many models are within that price range. Design and quality wise is also quite good.does seagull movement made the watch go lighter in weight 1 ah , cox the watch looks huge but feel light when hold . rm1200 retail for a ingersoll grand canyon automatic , not that value for money & collectibility right if compare to CW , steinhart , stowa ? |
