Hi Bro Teochew Lao

Nice to see such FS dedication. Very nice containers and can see much thought put into them.

For the leaves (FS home) , I used 2 money plant leaves and bind the stems of the leaves with a facial cotton wool and rubberband, I spray water on the cotton wool and wrap the wet cotton wool with aluminium foil. This would last me easily 1-2 weeks without any maintenance. For FS longevity, I believe Bro Ura's "mini fan method" ....placing the FS containers with an electric fan nearby makes a lot of differences.

Best of luck in your hunt and fight. In the 6 months of active FS hunting, fighting and uploading videos, I have fulfilled all of my childhood FS fantasies.

Even though I am taking a break from FS hunting and fighting, I would periodically update myself in this wonderful forum.

On the catching part, feel a bit paiseh in the field/always feel what other might wonder why this old man is
pushing all the plants & bushes around.
Hi Bro Teochew Lao

Ha Ha...don have to feel paiseh.

In the last 6 months, I used to have about at least one lunch time hunt per week in my smartest office wear. I simply remove my tie and hunt and I have a small hard brush to brush off the dirt/grass that may have remained on my "batu" shoe.

Passer-by have often stopped and asked. My reply would normally be that I am catching FS to educate my 9 year old son. On one occasion, I was inside a drain and the police car stopped to take down my particulars too. No problem as I am afterall the exspiderking biggrin.gif

Hi Everybody

I think I have to some extent settled down work-wise. I managed a short lunch time hunt last week as well as getting up in the morning over the Easter weekend to hunt. I love the cool morning air though the leaves were wet. Hunted at Nirv### as well as around Mandai and was rewarded with Puff and Octavius. Both are in my view good fighters if fought within their same size catergory.

I also managed to join our fellow FS Kaki on Sunday (240411) at the coffee shop for a very crowded and noisy Fs bout. I was a bit late and missed the main challenge between our Singapore FS representative, Datuk T against the Malaysian Kaki's First King. Present were Bro Ura, Ricky, Edmund, Buaya and Ah Kim and about 15-20 other onlookers who were urging the FS on. rclxms.gif

It was difficult to video the fight with so many people crowding around the small table and luckily Bro Ura is besides being the FS pro who single handedly managed the Spiders was also the videographer pro. laugh.gif Credit must also go to Bro Buaya who arranged for this every exciting match up. To be honest, I have never experienced such an electrifying atmosphere and it was very memorable.

Yesterday (250411) managed to have a lunch time hunt at Nirva## and caught a few M size FS. I really don know how Bro Buaya and Bro Ah Kim managed to catch the monster size FS from Nirva## quite easily whereas I can get the smaller ones only. Oh yes, I have also in the last 6 months caught a few good size ones from Nirv### like Redleaf, Graven and Magnum and not forgetting Datuk T. My favourite is still Vader which is SL sized. Anyway, noticed that some of the M size Fs had good fighting spirit and retained the best 2. They are named Small and Smaller which produced quite an exciting fight as posted yesterday. I fought them again today and was also an equally good fight.

Small (Right) V Smaller (Left) 260411 (Round 2)

I am also very happy to have new FS kaki in Singapore. I am sorry that I have not really spoken to Bro Edmund as I was busy as a bee and would get to know Bro Ricky better too. I noticed that Bro Ricky has a huge Fs called T-Rex (yes, I peep onto the leaf where the FS was housed). I will try to arrange weekend time to hunt together and my timing is from 7.00 am to 10.00am. Bro Ricky, I also started the same way like you ...50% for self and 50% for son....I even went Pahang to hunt, but my son is destined not to be exspiderking II as he only has passing interest. Now it is 100% my interest and the good thing is that I can hunt alone without my boy asking to go home upon being bitten by ants. biggrin.gif Similarly Bro Ura also taught me lots of stuff on Fs as well as how to post photographs and videos....we can both learn and pick up tips from Bro Ura including catching ML sized Fs on a regular basis.

Hope to meet up soon.

Hi Everyone

I have finally released the 2 M sized FS, named Small and Smaller but not before giving them a final fight. rclxms.gif

Smaller won Round 1, Small won Round 2 but I noticed that they often fall off the leaf. So for the final match, I used a piece of blue paper placed flat on the floor. Guess who won the decider?

Small (Right) V Smaller (Left) (Round 3) 270411

Well, Small and Smaller shows that the smaller sized FS can also produce reasonably good fight.

After releasing Small and Smaller, I was rewarded with a reasonable good sized FS in return. This will be the beginning of my new team and have decided to call him Genesis. Genesis came from Nirv###.

Due to the location of my new office, I am not been able to buy cricket so easily.....try to tahan till weekend and make do with ants, mosquitos, ant-like fly (from toilet) and LC worms. tongue.gif

Hi Everyone

I am slowly building up my FS team and try to hunt during lunch. Managed to catch 2 good sized ones but both are sub pao and one even has one leg less. I hope they will be a good match (and good video) against Bro. Edmund's sub pao. Likely to have a mass fight this weekend on Sunday, time and location to be confirmed.

I always view FS as a 3 in 1 hobby. The catching part is a lot like fishing....the wait, the anticipation and the catch. The next part is the rearing part. It is like keeping fish or dog where we have to happily feed, clean and maintain them. The last part is the best and is the fight part and FS as a hobby is exciting and addictive and always thinking and hoping to catch the next king. Well, that's my thought about FS. hmm.gif

Hi Bro Ricky, Love to go Cameron Highlands but cannot as my family June holidays plan has been made beforehand. Nice to know you are from Pahang and I did pass by Kuantan before going to my friend's place. I miss Triang as that was where Raksasa was caught and I am sure somewhere near your hometown lies another Raksasa.

Well for this weekend, I am bringing along the following team:-

(a) Genesis;
(b) Slayer (sub Pao 1, the one with one leg less); and
© Zorro (Sub Pao 2, the darker looking one).

Currently my team is new and not strong but I am always more into fun and having a good fight videoed.

Hi leejason99

Lone Ranger appears to be a sizable FS. In september 2010, I was somewhat in your position, I had a reasonable size FS (Ben-King) but no Kaki to fight with. Managed to contact Bro Ura and here we are today. I hope you can get some FS kaki over at your side and we can have an active exchange of ideas and videos. rclxms.gif

Hi Everyone

It was a nice long FS weekend for me. On 300411 Hunted near the place where we buy cricket and spotted an M size Male. On 010511, hunted at Nirv### in the morning and caught Zorro, an SL sized FS with reasonably good fighting spirit. Rushed to Nirv### again in the afternoon and had our mass fight and the best fight to me was my FS called Slayer....er...he kena slayed by Bro Ricky's Raider.

Randy's Slayer (Left) V Ricky's Big Runner (Right) 010511

After the fights, hunted at Nirv### and caught another SL sized FS called May Day. biggrin.gif

On 020511, hunted with Bro Ricky at Nirv### in the early morning with a bit of rain. Caught about 5 M sized male and Bro Ricky gave me 2 SL sized FS and retained one called Rudge, who beat Zorro at home. Fought Rudge with May Day and was a messy fight. Thanks Bro Ricky for the FS present.
Rudge (Bottom) V May Day (Top) 020511My Webpage

Today 030511, caught a good sized FS, possibly entry level ML at Mand##. Shall call him "This is It." tongue.gif

Gotta go now.

Hi Everyone

Wow, Bro Edmund's FS bungalow is super cool. The FS bungalow can also form a decorative piece for the home. rclxms.gif

As a child, I always wanted a glass like house with wire netting with glass doors for FS. I currently make do with a plastic container with wire netting which is a vast improvement from a matchbox.

After a few rounds of selection for Team Randy, I have narrowed it down to Rudge and This Is It.. Basically both Rudge and This Is It managed to defeat Zorro, May Day and Genesis quite easily. Actually Genesis would have been in third place but is starting to turn chop and I feel that it is the appropriate time to release him.

This Is It: Actually I caught him with another one arm male spider in one nest of small leaf. I have always been curious about the fabled " Abang Adek " (brothers) theory I heard since young. The theory is that they will not fight themselves. This is in fact my third " abang Adek " pair but the first two pair happily fought with each other and is probably, the nest had different compartments. For this pair, I was in a rush and did not have the time to fight them and guess I will never know. Anyway his debut fight:-

This Is It (Top) V Genesis (Bottom) 040511My Webpage

Rudge: Is a gift from Bro Ricky. From the second day onwards, he started defeating all of my other FS...probably will not fight him with This Is It. This is Bro Ricky's spar only and I have some catching up of standard to do blink.gif ...

Genesis (Bottom) V Rudge (Top) 050511My Webpage

The fight between May Day V Zorro is probably their last and both run off...quite funny.

Hi Bro Jason

Nice to see your video.

Lone Ranger is a big and strong fighter. Hope Mindstorm or Viper can start again and give Lone Ranger a good workout. Over here probably Bro Ricky's T-Rex can give your Lone Ranger a good fight. My current batch of fighters does not match your Lone Ranger in size.

Sorry....cant really assist in uploading as I am quite bad at IT matters myself. tongue.gif

Hi Everyone

This morning, Bro Edmund and me cycled along Mand## Road to recee for new FS spots. Yes, it was 2 matured gentleman huffing and puffing away as we cycled up the slope...with 2 small bikes. His is a foldable bike and mine a BMX...though did not really caught any FS on significant size, I did enjoy my time with Bro Edmund.

Currently, the FS enthusiast in SG range from 20s to 50s with me in my mid forties.... biggrin.gif

After a tiring uphill bicycle trip, met up with Bro Ricky and gave all our FS a good workout.

Hi Bro Jason

Wow, your place really got big FS. Over here, I struggle to get FS of that size.

Actually I have a relative in Cheras. Thinking of visiting that relative and if you're comfortable, I bring back your FS to SG to have their match with ours. Maybe school holidays in June then can go.

Our fellow Bro Buaya (a.k.a as Peter) and Bro Ah Kim has a few good sized FS probably like King Kenny and not many FS Bros here can give him a good match due to size difference. Just a thought..... yours against theirs should be a good match up biggrin.gif

Currently, my FS team consist of SL sized Fs and based on size and strength, they are:-

bro mindstorm caught a sizeable blueish fs, in a week or 2, which is school holiday it will mature and i think will give a good fight to any fs, bro Randy perhaps u can bring some fs from singapore so that we can take some nice videos if ur coming to Malaysia during the holidays.we can even go hunt together, this will be great man

Hi Bro Jason

It is really nice to hear that Bro Mindstorm is back in the FS world having caught a sizable blueish FS. rclxms.gif

Yes, would be better if I can bring my FS to fight yours if I do go over to Cheras. Regarding hunting, I should be Ok but have some constrain as I can start early morning but need reach home by 10 am as my young children coming along and look for me when they wake up. Would be good if the spots are near Cheras.

I am impressed by the long arms of your FS and thanks for the nice photos. I am not so good gauging the FS size based on photos but they do appear to be of good size and I am basically salivating at the thought of fighting SG Vs M'sia FS. Maybe if I going, can get our strongest SG FS against your side, video it for everyone to enjoy. biggrin.gif

OK gotta work now and yesterday caught an SL sized FS called Excaliber.

Hi Everyone

This evening met up with Bro Ricky, Bro Koppao at Bro Ura's place and had a match up with Bro Ricky's FS.

Each and every fight was a good long, multiple chop fight and err.......all of my FS kena jialat jialat. sweat.gif Luckily even though it was a super jialat defeat, it was a good video. tongue.gif

Really enjoyed myself and sorry had to rush back for dinner.

Thanks in advance to Bro Ura for uploading the videos.

The photo below was taken around noon....a male sleeping in his nest. Such a sight would set my heart pounding like mad. thumbup.gif

Hi Everyone

After viewing the video, appears that the outcome of the fight was quite respectable and not so jialat for my FS. Will work to strengthen my team. flex.gif

Yes, it is exciting times ahead. Bro Ricky going to Cheras on 28/5. If a meeting can be arranged with Bro Mindstorm and Bro Jason, I would like to tompany one of my FS. I better hunt extra hard these few days. As for me, I not sure when I going Cheras and likely in June. Will keep you guys informed once decision is made. Last time last year, think November or December 2010, I thought I going Cheras but relative came to SG instead. tongue.gif

I am very excited that near Bro Jason's place have many FS spots, even an exclusive spots dedicated to Chopsters. Dying to go there to hunt together but need you guys to show the way there and back as I am bad with directions/roads. Over here, we really struggle to get a decent spot and you guys will laugh if I tell you for weekends, I actually drive about 25++ kilometres (one way) just to go to an FS spot, hunt for one hour (I always in rush juggling time) and often go home empty handed. ohmy.gif

I think it will take me at least a year just to explore all the areas.

dont worry, i will be your tour guide when ur here  thumbup.gif

Hi Bro Jason

We in SG have no problem on FS food as we all buy baby cricket from a farm and distribute it amongst our fellow Kakis. This is the primary source of food and the baby cricket is about the size of an ant and need no maintenance at all. S$2.00 worth of baby cricket which we refer to as " pin head " can buy at least 1000 baby (maybe much more as I never count) and can last 2 weeks before they grow too big. As a standby, I feed them LC worm too which is a small version of meal worm with equally low maintenance and breed easily. However Fs prefer baby cricket. I will try to upload and post video of the baby crickets and the LC worm over the weekend. My current practice is I keep only up to 4 Fs.

If Bro Ricky meeting you guys, maybe he can bring some crickets for you and I try to pass him some LC worm for you guys. LC refers to "Leng Chee " (lotus seed in Hokkien if I am correct).

Before knowing the existence of these steady fuss free food source, I was very stressed about FS food having to catch mosquito and housefly which is quite rare at where I stay. I even resort to bringing home ant nest from trees and catching flies from dog shit at my parents place over the weekend. Once I actually brought a small net into a public toilet to catch the small flies....think I am mad biggrin.gif Oh yes, also carry rubber band and shoot housefly in public in my office attire (as I am good with rubber band shooting too.)

I am very excited to see all your FS pictures and already dreaming of hunting in KL/Cheras as I read again and again your sentence:-

"but they seem to be bigger and more everytime i go hunt. ur right, my area is a haven for the fs,"

Will try to persuade Mrs Exspiderking to go Cheras soon.

Hi Everyone

It is very exciting to see FS videos and all the pictures from our Malaysian friends.

In SG, almost all the known FS habitat we knew as a child is long gone, replaced by tall buildings and Shopping Malls. Other FS potential spots are often located at protected nature reserves, guarded by park rangers who are empowered to issue summons. We do have proven spots, but they can be counted in one hand only. Occasionally, we manage to get quantity, of about 10 at Nirv### but they are often M size FS which are too small. It takes me about 3 hours of lunchtime hunt i.e. 3 lunches for me to get one SL sized FS and that is no guarantee that they are good fighters. sad.gif

In view of the above, it is indeed refreshing to see for a change that Bro Jason's FS harvest was so good that he ran out of containers. It is equally nice and exciting to know that proven FS spots are just round the corner from where Bro Mindstorm and Bro Jason live. As such, many SG Fs enthusiast see Malaysia as the FS greener pastures, the FS promised land. We yearn, dream and fantasize just to have the opportunity to hunt FS in Malaysia. rclxms.gif

All the Chopsters featured appear to be very fierce and cannot wait to makan. For me, I normally keep my normal fighter FS for about 2 weeks before I introduce a small chopster to them. Only when they have gain enough experience with the small chopster would I fight them with Chopster of the same size. This is because I noticed that many of my newly caught FS cannot handle chopster and appear shocked when chopped and have no guts after being chopped.

I really cannot wait to go over to Cheras to hunt with Bro Mindstorm and Bro Jason. Would be nice if Bro Viper can join too. By June, you guys would have figured out the best spots. Maybe by then, another XL sized FS would be caught by you guys too. Boy .....June is just so exciting.

Here's the video showing LC worms and baby crickets. biggrin.gif

Hi everyone,

I was hoping to enthusiast u guys with my activities today. Got up at 8am ate my breakfast and head to search for new hunting ground. To my surprise there are so many of them when i explore deeper into places near my house. max my container at 1pm then head back to my house to offload the fs.

2 of my biggest fs caught earlier
Hi Bro Jason

I should also likewise write and inform you guys about my activities here. It is almost totally the reverse of your FS hunt i.e. not good FS outcome. biggrin.gif

Yesterday, met up with Bro Edmund and his 11 year old boy at 6.45am at Jalan Kayu. Bro Edmund treated me to Roti Prata (Roti Chanai) and then we started our hunt. Hunted inside the Seletar area and I did not get any FS of any significant size after about one hour. Think Bro Edmund got 2 SL sized FS. We then went to an abandoned golf course and I caught 2 entry level SL sized FS. The highlight of our hunt, at least to me, was the need to jump across a loosely dug drain. I somehow barely managed to jump across and Bro Edmund also managed but ...err... his legs were a bit wet but he managed too. Well for me, No FS nevermind....jumping across the drain is already an achievement. rclxms.gif

At home, tried the 2 Fs and they did not pass the probation.

Today, I did not plan to hunt but got up at 5.30am and my mind was on, what else but FS. tongue.gif So left home at 6.15am and hunted around Mandai. Went to the area I cycled with Bro Edmund last week and cycled deep into the area that look at bit like a nature reserve. I used the foldable bike and 2 hours of hunt gave me 5 males and retained the biggest which is at most entry level SL size. Though I did not see any big FS, I saw a very long brown colour cobra which I estimate to be as long as 1.5 metres. Struggled with my handphone video mode and the snake was by then gone. blush.gif

So poor exspiderking, a botak harvest as compared to Bro Jason who max his containers. Maybe it is about FS skill and FS luck as I have been in active SMs with Bro Buaya and yesterday he had a fruitful day at Nirv###. However, FS fate was shinning in my favour and Bro Ura gave me 3 FS this morning and after a few rounds of fights, I now have another new team member called Love.

My current team:-

(1) Rudge
(2) This is It
(3) Love
(4) Excaliber

Will try to meet up with our fellow FS bros in Tuesday as is public holiday. Today, our schedules not so compatible. I also have Bro Jason's T-Rex in my care with express instructions to give him a good work out on Tuesday.

Hi Everyone

Yes, we do have a big big FS problem in Singapore.

Drove past NT# during lunch and saw that construction work has begun at Bro Krauser's favourite FS spot. Arrived at Nirv### with great sadness as I saw about 20% of the lily patch botak already. It is exactly the spot where Datuk T was caught. Later during the day, the other FS kaki's SMS me to say the whole place botak already. If Nirv### lily patch is gone, where else would we get our FS? I have tried many other spots in vain and Nirv### has always at any point in time blessed me with at least 1 FS. I am so sad and each FS is precious and the loss of my favourite spot is unbearable. cry.gif

After work, hunted at Mand## and caught a good sized ML (close to spot where Rembrandt caught). He shall be called Mentor.. As I was driving home, spotted an XL sized wild boar. Yes, I just spotted a super long cobra yesterday but did not capture it on my camera phone. This time just barely managed to have this very large wild boar video-ed. He or she did struggle at the railing but rest assure that it was not hurt and finally ran off into the woods. So manda# has giant snake..giant wild boar and I hope to see and catch an XL sized FS. tongue.gif

Sorry about the poor quality of the wild boar video. I don't know where my phone cable is and I use cam-corder to record the already poor quality video from my phone. Here's the video:-

Yes, Bro Jason, your place looks like an FS heaven and every small spot also have FS. How I wish it is like that in SG......

Hi Everyone

Met up with Bro Ricky at Bro Edmund's place this morning . Unfortunately, Bro Edmund lost his 1st King, BlueFox and feel sad for him. sad.gif

Anyway, both Bro Edmund and Bro Ricky assess my newly caught FS, Mentor and were of the view that it is not an ML sized FS but within the Large category. I later brought Mentor to Bro Ura's place to be assessed and it is likely Mentor is an entry level L sized FS. Have taken him on grid paper (with great difficulty) and so far he cannot stay still and the photo attached not so good. Perhaps after a few days of feeding will get a better grid paper photo shot.

Mentor was caught late in the evening before the wild boar sighting and after an afternoon rain. I caught him whilst he was eating another male FS. shocking.gif Based on this, he may be a Chopster and yes, confirmed he is a Chopster based on his first fight against Silver. He is also not a young Fs but I am very grateful to have the opportunity to catch an L sized FS in Singapore. Ha Ha, first ...giant cobra, giant wild boar and now L sized FS. Anyway, the fights video-ed this morning:_

Well, the champion after the fights is Bro Ricky's Fs named Sissy. Ha Ha ... a cute name for a FS.

We are still reeling from the shock of losing Nirvana and as such, I named my last Fs from Nirvana as...Last Fighter of Nirvana. He is an entry level SL sized FS and appears small compared to the other Fs. But most importantly, he has strong will power. It is also nice to hear Bro Buaya and Bro Ricky picking each and every disorientated FS at Nirvana and relocate them. rclxms.gif

Yo Bro Jason, how do we train a FS to become chop? My 1st few Fs naturally turned chop after about 1 month in captivity. They start to appear darker and then start to chop. Personally I prefer a normal fighter as once FS turn chop, generally they become somewhat not as strong a fighter as before. My earliest FS turned chopster is Valtor who could still produce a good long fight. On the other hand, another of my FS called Magnum was a chopster without much will power. Maybe it has to do with the Fs ability before becoming chop. Well, those are based on my short experience. I think two of the better FS Bro to answer your question would be Bro Vincent and Bro Ah Kim, both of whom are known for their skill in rearing good fighting spirit chopster.

Hi Everyone

Yes, it is nice to have new Kaki joining the FS world and it is especially great that Bro Jason make the trip all the way to SG just to fight FS.

The fight venue was in Yishun (190511) and the first and best fight between my Professor and Bro Ricky's Mah Bok was not clear as the camcorder was in the aircon room and it just stopped raining and the camcorder lens was fogged and I lost both FS.......sorry guys. blush.gif Anyway the videos taken on 19/05/11:-

The other fights are quite OK and did not upload the one push/one chop run away fights:-

I agree with Bro Ricky that we should have fought Saphire with T-Rex as Mentor is a makan pow. Should fight normal fighter against normal fighter. Actually Saphire is a very good sized FS and just that he is not ready to take on a chopster. I did give mentor's a try out session with my FS and the video:-

This morning I woke up early and actually wanted to rest as it rained last night and the leaves would be wet...not good for hunt. As I was munching on my scones....just felt like hunting FS again. Well took my BMX and fit into the back seat and off I go to Nirvana. Yes the place is totally gone. I cycled from Nirvana to NTU (along the pavement) stopping along the way to flip the leaves and was rewarded with 6 males. Brought home 4 and yet to test them and at most 2 are SL sized.

Came home tired, dirty but happy as have FS to try.

Tomorrow I will be meeting Bro Ricky and Bro Buaya and will fight at 0730 at Nirvana. Fellow FS Bros, please feel free to come and join.

Hi Everyone

This is the first time I actually see a spider moult. At first din know what to make out of it but found BB02 rather cute, like a sweet baby or a stuff toy. Then when moulting, can see how delicate the FS is. Hopefully we all get to see a T-sub male soon. nod.gif

This is a video of our beloved Nirvana lily patch filmed this morning on my BMX .

Goodbye to Nirvana Lily Patch 210511

One of the males caught this morning along Jalan Bahar manage to beat Professor, so will release Professor together with all the other newly caught FS. This newly caught is called Macho Man. This name is a tribute to my wrestling Hero Randy (Macho man) Savage who just passed away. I hope that the stretch of road between NTU and Nirv### could supply us with FS. Spent about one hour along the pavement and even though was raining a bit with wet leaves, managed to get a reasonable number of FS, including Macho Man who is likely SL sized. Here's the video:-
