Hi guys.. In MMU a lecturer who has master's by research (engineering) can earn rm4.1k. Senior lecturers can earn up to 6.5k and associate professors almost 10k. How about in public University? and in universities in Singapore? Anyone knows?

im not sure about other universities, but in MMU even if you have pHD no auto seniority.. you've to have enough publication and you'll have to go through selection and interview and stuffs.. -from reliable source, lecturer himself-

but MMU is an IPTS. It was part of the governments response to the Uni rankings a few years back when none of the malaysian unis were in the world top 200.
They started this scheme for the IPTAs where all lecturers had to be moving towards a PhD and new lecturers with PhD automatically get Senior Lecturer position. |

QUOTE(colex08 @ May 7 2010, 01:40 AM) low profile.. associate proff higher pay than dean.. dean's pay not so much, he gets his basic pay + allowance for becoming dean.. allowance like rm1k++.. so in MMU, if he's a senior lecturer, then 6.5k+1K++=7.5k++... associate proff almost 10k.. but normally dean is also associate professor.. or professor |

QUOTE(yoboy @ May 6 2010, 05:51 PM) IPTA not much allowance.. for normal lecturers i think none, or none that I am aware of. You seem to know alot about IPTA, you from IPTA? Nope! my dad is a.p., he tried to convince me to do my PhD and become a lecturer. So he gave me all those figures la After going through my masters, I never wanna do research again. But then again, each person is different. It might suit you perfectly. Forget about the pay first and decide whether you would enjoy it. If you think you will, you have 6 years of being a student ahead of you. the "gaji" you mentioned should just consider allowance |

Nowdays many wannabe lecturer think teaching make sounds easy as ABC...some fresh lecturers has low quality in terms of his teaching skill, knowledge and attitude towards job ,... came in late for class, came in as they wish. so care free and fuked with his own sweet time during the class and so on plus hes also a racist too !!
what happend !!! This happened to me back in the days when I was study in SEGi Subang Jaya. |

RM3.5k & above for certain IPTAs for non-Phd.
After getting Phd title, maybe go up to RM4k-5k. |

Good, exactly the kind of person I need advice from. Do you think it is possible for me to finish an engineering masters by research in less than 2 years? You're suggesting exactly what Im thinking. QUOTE(yoboy @ May 10 2010, 01:58 PM) I was saddened by the fact that my current university does not accept tutor applicants anymore. Tutor can earn 2.6k, and requires an undergraduate degree.. They only accept GRA (2k salary) from now onwards.. remember good paid job never wait for workers. worker wait for them. so it your luck to get a good pay job. either way if you 22+ now, master took around 3 years+. If you grad around 25 + work expriences - your salary wise around 5k+ shouldn't be a problem. unless you got attitude problem |
