ok bro currently i hav only 3.5 inch hdd dat is d PC HDD not notebook hdd.......both hdd u can make it as external but the matter is wen 3.5 u wanna make it as external u will need to connect with a power supply for it to function but 2.5 doesnt nid any power socket for it to run........but if ur juz planning to use at 3.5 is ok but if moving around u will nid sumthng mobile lik 2.5
