what if the person who ask for your current salary is not your interviewer? last week, i went for an interview and the HR manager request for a copy of my salary payslip. since i'm not comfortable revealing my current salary, i give him my reasons.

this is the part i like clarification from you guys, he mention it is normal for company to keep my payslip copy as reference. i mean, do company nowadays ask for interviewee payslip? it can still be accepted if interviewer ask about my current salary halfway, instead i was requested to give them a copy even before they start the interview.

what should i do in such situation, i wasnt given a choice to reject at all.

ps: hr manager was not my interviewer

Normally, we do not give the slip. Pay slip is just for confirmation that we are earning that much.
