Non related cert are added advantage. It is just like having a list of positions in your extra cirricular activities.

Just make a list. Stating proficency level is optional. Furthermore, it is subjective.
*
hmm,but im a IT student so its still not necessary? or list out like intermediate, advanced, etc??

QUOTE(faceless @ Aug 2 2010, 05:57 PM)
Programming is like chinese. It is all about data flow and handling. It does not matter what language you are using. You maybe an expert in hokkien and conversation level in cantonese. It would take you long to master cantonese. Pascal, ForTran, C++, vb what is the big deal? They are all more or less the same.
*
so u mean it really doesn't matter whether to list out it is beginner, advanced, etc or not?

QUOTE(Gormaz @ Aug 2 2010, 06:05 PM)
Yeah and if you are a fresh grad I doubt you can put yourself as "advanced" anyway.
And anyway the HR can see from the jobs/projects you did what kind of languages you actually used and the ones you only learn in class.

I also totally agree that once you know a couple of language learning new ones is just a matter of getting used to the syntax and the (usually small) specificity of the language, what's important if for you to understood the concepts and the algorithms anyway.

Also it would just take way too much space on your resume to list them all and put your skill level

ok fair enough smile.gif

I will not list it with competency level. A season programmer will know which level you are at.

QUOTE(faceless @ Aug 4 2010, 06:39 PM)
I have never listed refrees. Only fussy companies look for it. As I know these fussy companies never even call your refree. Try the line below if you feel you must fill that section.

Referee : Will be furnish on request.

but what referee should i put if they ask for it?
my previous employer?

If you want to list out interest dont do this
"Interest : Reading, Cooking, Bedminton ...."
Almost every one is doing this. They just want to show that they have a reading habit and can cook. In thruth most of it is fake. List out something different. Likes say yatching. Make sure you know yatching if you want to list it.
*
hmm,i just list out some computing stuff and sports..

but is it employer will look at this section?

after so many info i heard, looks like referee is an important role in resume especially for fresh graduate in australia..
so i managed to find the Dean of my course department at my previous college to become my referee but she just changed her job to other university.

so the question is should i list my referee's previous and present position together?

Your resume states

Uni : ABC Uni

Referee : Dr Smith of XYZ Uni, (relationship - my professor 2009).

HR can figure out that Dr Smith was in ABC Uni as your professor in 2009 and is now in XYZ uni.
*
alright
i just put the previous position in bracket under her name then only her current position

You can write it in the cover letter.
*

QUOTE(daccorn @ Sep 2 2010, 01:48 AM)
under your education heading in your resume you can state your average score per 100 or whatever CGPA standard adopted by your uni, make sure its some standard and easily understandable.

Education
University of Some-random-place (study period)
Course
Average Score: ##

College Pre-U / diploma (study period)
Course
Average Score:

Depending on how you arrangement your headings i.e. education/ past work experience / co-curricular activities / references / skills and misc , if you have a very outstanding education performance, you'd list it first, otherwise put whichever category you have the most positives to show for first

If they did not ask for a academic transcript, your option whether or not to attach it behind your CV
If they ask for certain documents that does not include transcript, don't include it, average would suffice
If they ask explicitly for result slip etc, then include it.
*
thanks but my question was refer to my academic(eg. diploma cert),etc certificates that i need to attach along with my CV
