How much were you quoted for the M performance suspension? I know that each piece is around the RM800-RM900 range. A lot cheaper than aftermarket suspension such as KW V2 and KW V3.
*
Hey bro, no official quotation as Msia dont have it yet.

I seen from forums its around Euro1,200 include installation.

Its adaptive suspension.

Now i m having another headache, my front driver tires got a bulge aka pregnant. After done only 1k km and own for a month. Didnt really hit anything just normal drive. My old Polo and Honda city being used for years also dont have such problem.

But takkan the product cant even take one hit on potholes?

Hi guys! Need advice from Beemer sifus here. I am looking at buying a used  E90 325i, year 2007. Mileage is abt 55k km only and price is reasonable. Getting it from a lady friend who hardly uses this car. Wanna knows if its worth buying? Is there any problem/issues i should be concerned about before I buy. I've never owned a BMW nor even any continental brand so I really don't know what I'm getting into. Please advice and thanks in advance.
*
Sure its a good buy.. i still love E90 whenever i see one on the road. Especially those from msport specs.

Why dont consider E90 320d? a power-kitted offers the same power as 325i or even better as some claimed. Some claimed even 1k km for a full tank of diesel biggrin.gif

If you insist, basically E90 has alot of electronic malfunctions. Thats what i heard from my frens.

Is the car being serviced by BMW MAlaysia? you can check the car condition from there. They have records.

Ah those suspension, for Euro 1,200 it is quite cheap because a similar aftermarket like the KW V3 would be around RM11k.

Ouch, bulge, its because of the RFT tyres. That's the reason because the sidewalls are stiffer and the moment a hard impact, it tends to bulge out. A lot of the BMW drivers swap out to non-RFT tyres for a smoother and comfortable ride. They carry a can of tyre sealant in the trunk or you can be as kiasu as me, carry a spare tyre and a can of sealant.
*
i am still planning do my new kicks for the car didnt expect so fast i have to replace a tire.
Its not cheap, RM1600 per piece. Some might see me as kiasu beggar drives a beemer but wanna kecoh about changing a tire. But i will put it as what happen to quality? if it is so easily bulge out then this tire is really not suitable for KL/Malaysia. Potholes are all over the place. I dont think i m prefect driver but sometimes i might hit one or two small ones.. but if major ones i dont think i did.

in the end also the question of quality of tires nowadays... really total rip off.

Kesian la, its brand new summore..

Hi! Thanks for your reply. The 325i offered is $125k n serviced by AB. Will check the service records for sure when I see it  this weekend. As for the 320d...well its abit way off my budget.
Owning these continental beauties is no straigth forward thing isn't it? Alot of homework...sigh.
*
yea its love or die thingy!

i always tot 320d will be cheaper compared to 325i if considering both same mileage and age.

Actually RM125k with 55k mileage is still good but have to really see overall to decide. But still worth a shot.

Yeah thats why a lot of BMW owners swap over to cheaper tyres. Especially for F30, you don't need to get really expensive tyres and at the same time your setup is not staggered. Hence the tyre costs are cheaper smile.gif

GT Radial are one of the brands currently used, feels a lot more comfy and also good grip during rempit runs and 300 threadwear

What size? 225 40 18? How much each?

Actually didnt hear b4 this brand. But read up its from uk. Looks good and promising.

Yeah. My old e46 had gone thru so much problems with tires. Seriously it's nightmare to maintain 19 low profile tires..

I always wonder how the heck those ppl can maintain a 20" or even bigger ones in kl.

Yeah. It's quite pain in the arse. My old e46 always have abs indicator suddenly appear then went off.

Send to garage it's about the sensor is having problem. The garage say is fine. Just replace the sensor. Forgotten how much but didnt cost a bomb.

So better get it replaced or check. U won't know it's abs faulty or just sensor. But it's better to get it check and assured before doing long journey.

hi guys getting a BMW e46 318i 1900cc soon.
i've just got a quick question, does the 2000cc's engine give a lot of problems like the dealer told me?
*
Hahaha. My 2001 e46 325i

1. Valve crack and water went in. Repaired 13k and some replacement of engine parts.
2. Abs sensor faulty.
3. One thing water from radiator all got leaked out. Send to check but no problem. Happened once. Then didnt happen again.
4. Gearbox kong replaced 8k
5. other minor things like electronic malfunction, lights refused to off, air cond didnt turn off even I off it. Car audio volume sometimes loud then sometimes soft.

I sold if off during 2009.

For me it's really insignificant.

Furthermore u have to consider power vs weight ratio balance.

I think most ppl would consider BMW for its prestige and premium branding. Peformance is just additional.

Why 320i not 320d when u want peformance?

Why dont you test drive the f30 320d? ..... step into the car, close the doors, then start the engine.... smile.gif play around with it.... take it for a real spiritual drive.... if u still not happy with the 320d..... then get the 328i biggrin.gif
*
Don't do that 1st, for f30 320d first thing is ask the sales person go start the engine and u stand outside.

If you think ok with the sound of the engine then only move on to test drive lol..

9/10 person I know will definitely think the sound really potong stim.

Somehow I feel 320d is better than even the 328i at the low end...probably because you don't have to drop gears and rev high that much to feel the power (well how often you rev your engine high anyway for day to day driving?). Does anyone feels the same as me? I know on paper, acceleration of 328i is better, just somehow the diesel is more fun

Compare 320i to 320d, no comparison....not enough kick you expected from a turbo engine.

Maybe F30 is just too refined already haha Can't deny a VW GTI feels faster than the 328, although the 328 yields more power on paper.
*
I test drove both of it before decided to buy the 328.
The 320d drive sluggishly compared to 328i. In terms power felt, 328 more smooth both in low and high gears.

I think Vw gti would be faster interms of power vs weight ratio. Furthermore even on papers the 328 looks better but 100% I assure u that you won't dare to push it like Vw gti without having ur 328i stock suspension changed. Atleast for me I felt super insecure trying to push the car more than 160kmph.

How is the general maintenance costs of BMW? I know the new models come with 3 years or 60K free service but in general how does BMW compare with other European makes?
*
My car is only 6k atm. Yet to bring it for a service. But spoke to the service guys, it will just cost roughly around RM700~RM800 for normal service.

The free service will be based on the computer. So if you wanna do an early service, then you will have to pay for it.

My polo service for RM500 per 15k.

But had a very bad experience with customer service and quality

1. 2 "bulged" RFT and 1 side wall cracked. within 4months already change 2 RFT. Each is RM1600.

2. Booked an appointment one month ahead to bring the car to replace the rusted seat frame and steering rack. 3 days before appointment, i called and my appointment wasnt booked. Hence parts werent ordered.

So much for a premium. My old Honda driven 5 years and not even once my booking gone wrong. Honda will even sometimes personally call to remind and SMS reminder.

Got 328i msport d? 3 months ago drop my car for service then kepoh with SA. He said currently is only 320d and 320i got msport.

I really want the msport kit. In order for me to get the m performance kit, I need to install msport first. But original it's around rm10,000. Tbh I kind of butthurt knowing Msia road conditions. Then I need fork another rm15k for m performance kit. Price last checked 4 months ago.

Mine is Melbourne red, so far I didn't see a red msport or m performance kit hahahaa

Your SA is misinformed. The M-Sport versions are only for the F30 320d and the F30 328i. The M-sport for the 328i gives quite a good package because it also comes with adaptive suspension whilst the 320d just come with M-Sport shocks.

Personally when it comes to bodykit, if you are extremely particular, you can opt for alternative sources instead of going straight to the dealers to get the M-Sport bodykit and the M-Performance bodykit. Several places such as Motorsport Division in Sunway are selling it together at a package for way less than the dealers.

Another source is Stuttgart in Taman Mayang Jaya. Do note that Stuttgart is also a BMW stockist. http://www.stuttgart.com.my

wahh.. i got mine 328i sports for 289k and discount by your fren, mike from Quill (i heard he resigned).

But i still think 328i Msport is still worth the 309k

Hello sifus.
Just wondering which one would you choose.

A really well maintaned/super underused 3rd car BMW 320i Efficient Dynamics (2010) or the upcoming Honda City Top Spec (2014)?

The BMW has less than 50k mileage due to it being the third car of the current owner and has never been in any accident, owner is offering me rm100k
(must I mention that the owner is a family friend and all I have to do is just pay monthly to him at any amount that I am comfortable without the hassle of taking loans?)

while on the other hand, before this offer came along, I was eyeing the top spec soon to be launched Honda City 2014 which is priced around rm89k.

If you are to be in my shoes, which one would you choose?
For long term ownership?

Thanks!

TBH, ask yourself can u out of sudden able to cope with 3K or minimal repairs of atleast 1k for maintenance per month?

I been there done that. I used to own a 2nd hand E46, which roughly needs around 1k each month to maintain this and that. Just in average.

Roughly service will cost RM700 cheapest, average done 3months. In the end gearbox kong after using the car for additional 3years which total age of the car is 7years. No choice but i have to sell it off and get a new H.city until last year i finally have the capability to earn a new 328i F30.
