IMO, the 25Hz filter in a movie can only affects a fraction of ppl particularly those own a good quality sub that can dig low below 20Hz or even to single digit LFE. You should know what certain sub brands are we talking about. smile.gif To another group of ppl, this may be irrelevant or not bother to care a thing as 25Hz is considered quite low enuf to hear the slam.

As far as lossless audio is concerned, alternating or filtering out at any frequency is against its objective, or you may call it compression of audio. Again, this phrase will be supported hotly by those capable sub owners like certain brands... laugh.gif . But why not, since we have invested in a good sub so basically will want it to perform to the peak.

On another note, we did not notice our long-lived sifu, htkaki in LYN has obtained 10k club status, did we??. Counting the star is total of 8....wow rclxms.gif Some taikos here can onli reach 7 stars. I am only half-baked compare to these elites.

Added on May 4, 2010, 11:26 pmOh yea, the Die Hard 4.0 when the car flips over. You can just simply 'feel' not hear the LFE hits against your chest or even your heart, and follow up by a kind of wind feel in your hall. Never thought it is mixed at 8Hz....scary enuf.

In the end, I don't think studio will give a shit about all this....because there are only a handful of people who are bass nut that would go to the extreme to setup crazy amount of subwoofers and whatmore to plot a colorful chat to see how low is the lfe.  In the end Avatar has go on and break records after records and 99 % of the people who purchase it don't even realise that the LFE doesn't go as low as 20hz.  JMO

We can't change what has been done for those movies filtered at 25Hz. As far as more buyers start taking action by flooding the studios Co. emails with supported charts, I am sure they will be aware and response. Not only buyers but leading Sub manufacturers too need to take initiatives to query the studios!

At least, they should give some kind of explanation to justify their decision. We aren't too certain whether it is associated with its production cost or any other untold biz issue. Even so, they should very well aware that large portion of their sales income are also from blu-rays buyers. Most if not all, we will buy original blurays. DVDs originals have taken a back seat, or DVD can be made pirate copies easily in the market. So, the question is why do we still want to buy blurays? In recent months, bluray sales over the globe have picked up tremendously. Those who buy will only demand the best in its PQ & AQ and in fact deserve the best soundtrack. We also have every rights to seek for justifiable explanations if we discover the product that we buy cast a shadow of doubt in its quality.

The Avatar from US are packed with 1 bluray & 1 dvd.

For audio sake, I am wondering is it worth our precious time to rewind the whole film in dvd Dolby Digital 5.1 just to test out the LFE which has no filtered out at 25Hz hmm.gif ?

Anyone already tested out? Or you dun bother to watch in standard definition as its PQ is so much inferior.....

Only Dolby Surround, Spanish, French DD5.1....NO English DD5.1

Do you guys think sound engineers from dts have any influence whatsoever on the filer issue? So far, only DTS-HD master audio format is affected, wonder Dolby TrueHD is on the same boat.

Just for info only.

About the 25Hz filter, even tho I don't have a high-end sub, I would agree with you guys that the filtering should not be applied.

+1 icon_rolleyes.gif

I guess I will email fox studio soon, if not, some ppl will say me NATO sweat.gif I bet Yonggoh should do the same since he is so disagreed the filter thingy.
Like I said, the more complaint or appeals the better. Even Sub manufacturer should write something to them too...

Yeah, this Avatar disc takes up more time to load than any other BD on the Panny BD60. I didn't update the firmware either. Eventhough, the LFE is not below 25Hz but still can feel the massive bass from the explosion, tree tumbling down & even the giant creature flapping its wings carry incredible bass weight thumbup.gif . However, it is the overall sound mixed that is effortlessly balanced until it can over-shadow this 25Hz filtering during the movie.....
