no, it's called "server emulator".
a program which acts like a server, the function is to make the game believing that you are accessing the real server online on internet.
the server will try to read your game and if your game does not have valid activation, you won't be able to save or load the game, thus won't be able to play the game. With this "server emulator", you do not need access the real website thus skipping the "activation" every time you want to save and load the game.

lol i see. din keep track with assassin's creed 2 edi since they dont have the option to off shadows thus i can't play smoothly. still hoping they'll release the patch to off the shadows just like GTA4 do
I don know any other game but AC2 seems like one of the hardest game to crack. even GTA4 took only 1 day to crack.
