Hey guys. Regarding my setup I posted a few pages ago, my tortoise were abducted by something. I am guessing birds. My neighbour found 1 back and another by the side of the enclosure. So what's the best way to prevent this from happening? I put chicken wire mash on top of the enclosure? Any better solutions? The best is to show me some of your enclosures so I can apply whatever that I'm lack of on my enclosure as I am a beginner and am willing to take note of all your seniors' comments

Yeah I've done setting up my wires above the enclosure. Missing 1 more patch of wire. Lol. Will be getting more wire to completely cover the enclosure. no birds can abduct them and they should not be able to climb out cause I'm using bricks to hold onto the wires.

Trying to fix their enclosure tho. As my area is prone to flash floods. 1 time i was in time to save them in the middle of the night during a flash flood. since then i dont dare to leave them outside overnight. my housing drainage too small but house owner wont fix it as it is only a rented house. i was thinking of increasing the ground level of their enclosure by 2 bricks high. suggestions??

QUOTE(SAMPERTH @ Nov 27 2011, 02:32 PM) With dirt ? Whole area ? How about just a small area where there's shade to tuck in for the night .I just use a few cement slab n an inverted curvet as shade !! with dirt and then covered with grass cause the other time the flash flood water level was up to 1-2 bricks high.cheers |

Hey guys my female star has been digging in its enclosure. a very deep hole. has been mating with the male. Can anyone guide me on removing the eggs and incubation? I did research but im afraid i would make any crucial mistakes
*on a side note, my female weighs at 1158grams. after the eggs came out i saw her intestine sticking out. what action must i do? it's been there for quite some time already http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtPa5RNxX7M This post has been edited by kenn91: Dec 5 2011, 04:19 PM |

vet say only way is surgically inserting it back. even if it goes in. chances are there it will come out again. the image you saw was before she tore it apart. it became worse at 6pm. this image was at 5pm. i put her down. the only humane thing i could think of. i just buried her at my courtyard. worse day of my life.
doc said it's prolapse of the intestine. she probably pushed to hard when laying the eggs. This post has been edited by kenn91: Dec 5 2011, 08:24 PM |

I think not so good. Seems like a single egg but being twisted during the laying process.
