People use Cuttlefish bone instead of cuttlefish itself !! Beside calcium I use them as jaw trimmer .

http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/sepia_bones.php

Exo-terra sell them as sepia bones !!

Cheers

yeah yeah yeah i think it's sulcata =)
i hope sifus here can give me some guidance cause i am totally new man

and rm500 for a tortoise is really expensive so i wanna know is it easy to keep or maintain ?

Got any recommendation on other kind of tortoise but looks like sulcata ? i want those that doesnt grow that fast so i can keep in my room longer
then when it grow larger only i find a new place for it
thanks alot again
*
u want something that stay on dryland and needs sun/basking light?..then tortoise is ur choice...
want smth tat stay in water + land +needs sun/basking lamp?..then take turtle..

tortoise are generally BIG over a period of time...turtle if u pick the smaller species (like musk turtle, reeves turtle, diamondback) the size is at least manageable..but they need water...

if u got a pond or those blue plastic aquarium, then do consider a turtle.. smile.gif icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Similar as in colour or ?? Try wait for Greek or Russian they may be offered cheaper and stay way smaller than Sulcata !!

Try google for picture of Russian , Greek ........
Cheers
*
is the pattern on the Russian tortoise the opposite of sulcata?..meaning: instead of the lines being darker chocolate color (like in sulcata), the lines in russian is ligther in color..and the patch is darker in color instead of ligther (lighter like in the sulcata)? hmm.gif hmm.gif

i love turtle. use to have a pair of RES. i admit i was a lousy owner, didnt knew a thing about taking care of them, even the pet shop salesgirl told me they should be ok in a small bowl. looking back, i feel so sorry for them.  im planning to get turlte now, but this time im going to get proper tank with basking area n UV lamp. good thing i can get all the info from this thread.

for any pets, we should gather info before getting the animal.
*
just feel free to ask whenever a question pops up in ur mind..otherwise, u can always google... smile.gif

Hi... Can anyone tell me whats wrong with the turtle? I just bought it and don't think it is eating..

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

*
i guess the diet must've been changed and its not used to it yet..give it sometime...provide it with the food u bought, but in small amount...after it starts taking it, then can consider increasing the amount fed to it..

sometime when brought home fr shop, it is still not accustomed to the new environment, so it will refuse to eat...anyway, thie species of turtle grows fast, so u mite need a bigger tank and not the small plastic ones. smile.gif

a shop in putatan sell rm1000++. so i wonder if that a reasonable price...
*
well its hard to say whether worth it onot..but RM1k is abit rip off if the size is still small like 2-3inches.. smile.gif in east malaysia, it can go up to Rm500 for a 2-3incher sulcata...so,it depends on ur barganing power too. icon_rolleyes.gif gud luck. smile.gif
