Valencia are now in 6th place and they look desperate now to close the gap on top four. it won't be easy coz teams like Betis, Villareal and Sevilla are also in good form right now. i wish Antonio Lopez had taken over this team much earlier coz what Ranieri did was nothing more than a disaster for them.

Ranieri chases Valencia for pay-out

Claudio Ranieri will begin legal proceedings against former club Valencia after failing to reach an agreement over his severance pay following his dismissal as coach last month.

The two parties were unable to reach an amicable settlement at an arbitration meeting on Tuesday and the Italian's lawyer said that although he would continue to negotiate with Valencia, he would initiate legal action against the club.

'We have two months before we appear in person before the court and during that time we will try to reach an amicable settlement but I think it will be very difficult,' Juan de Dios Crespo told sports daily AS.

Ranieri, who was sacked just eight months into a three-year deal with the club, is reported to be demanding the payment of the full 8.1 million euros ($10.47 million) he would have received if he had stayed until the end of his contract.

they are supposely one of the big three of Spanish football. Hope they can bounce back in style next season.

6th place in La Liga and a failure in Europe can be considered as a disastrous season for Valencia. they actually have the quality in terms of players, but something went wrong with their tactics and formation this season.. mainly because of Ranieri's approaches. all they can do now is to win all the remaining games and hope teams like Sevilla and Villareal will drop points in the next few matches.

the biggest mistaken from ranieri was he never want to play aimar. Somehow the long term injury of vicente effects a lots at their left frank attack.

maybe he thought that player like Fiore could do the job well enough even without Aimar, which proved to be a failure. Fiore has spent most of his time playing on right flank and never played regularly in the centre. only then Ranieri started to play Aimar after everything went wrong for them.

Fiore used to be a right midfielder since in lazio and i never saw he played at any central role before this.

Valencia 'negotiating' Baros transfer

Valencia president Juan Soler claims he is in talks with Liverpool striker Milan Baros.

Soler told Valencia-based Radio 9 that the Czech Republic international was one of several targets for the summer as the Spanish side attempt to strengthen following a disappointing season.

poor valencia, i guess they have plenty of good strikers but why wanna chase for the another one? they need no to use a pure striker and still able to win the champion last season.

Valencia really have poor season and can valencia qualify to CL for next season and i think few of big names player will leave valencia.

i actually never felt convinced since Ranieri took charge of the team early this season. i think most of the players couldn't adapt with his game plan and that proved costly. new signings like Fiore, Di Vaio and Corradi also didn't make much impact, while few key players like Vicente and Ayala were out for a long time because of injuries. that really affected the strength and balance in the team.

they still have 7 games to play but i'm afraid it could be too late to save their season. and they might just have to settle for a UEFA Cup spot.

i agree with josuya that Angulo is an overrated player. he never really made any great impact apart from the few crucial goals he scored early season. and he only started to play regularly after Benitez left for Liverpool. and for some reasons, Lopez is still using him until now although they have better options like Rufete and Vicente. kinda weird isn't it?

Wasnt much due to 'indiscipline'. It was that he had some harsh words with Antiono Lopez when he was subsituted. Sure he score goals at times, but his performance during matches is at best 7/10. When Ranieri came, he changed a succesful system with Aimar at midfield and Mista as a forward, with Fiore, Di Vaio and that other Italian dude. hard now for Valencia to claim a CL spot, with Sevilla, Real Betis being quite good now.

going back to Serie A would always be the best option for any unsettled Italian player except Amadeo Carboni, Zola, Di Matteo, Di Canio, Lorenzo Amoruso and few others who had great spells in foreign leagues.

Di Vaio scored many goals with Juve and Parma in the past, and i'm not surprised that he's a top scorer for Valencia as well. i think he's having a fairly good 1st season in La Liga, but a bad attitude like that could affect his performance and relation with the team. u shouldn't react like that as a professional.

Valencia's Vicente returns to training

Valencia winger Vicente returned to training with the first team on Tuesday after recovering from an ankle injury that has kept him out for most of the season.

The Spanish international, who was one of Valencia's top performers as they won the Primera Liga and UEFA Cup last year, sustained the injury during his side's 2-1 Champions League defeat by Werder Bremen last September.

The 23-year-old made a brief return to action in December but was forced to have an operation in January which ruled him out until now.

Valencia, who play Numancia this weekend, are sixth in the Primera Liga with five games left.

vicente is oledi proven as one of their most important player since 2 seasons ago, and even one of the best player in laliga last season. i am wondering about his performance after suffering such a a long term injury.

he probably needs 1 or 2 weeks to get to his full fitness again.. which i think is a bit risky. it would be better for Valencia to just get him ready for next season. it's been a disappointing season for Vicente because of that horrible injury.. and his absence has definitely affected his team's performance.

Numancia 1-1 Valencia

Seems like Ranieri's departure doesnt have any effects on them. They still play very poorly and most of the time, required some lucks to win matches. Seriously, there werent any major shakeup to them team that used to be called champions but seems to struggle in both end of the field of scoring and defending goals. IMHO, it's all down to the players' attitude. Promised so much at the beginning of the season but in the end, an UEFA spot is all that they can achieve. They really need to learn "go slow and steady".

Valencia's Torres out for 7 months

Valencia defender Curro Torres will be out for up to seven months after having surgery on his right knee in an effort to solve a long-running cartilage problem, the club said on Sunday.

The 28-year-old right back damaged his cartilage in September and despite having an operation in January, has been troubled by knee pain ever since.

Torres will miss his side's last game of the current campaign against Osasuna, and up to four months of next season.

Edu 'quits Arsenal for Valencia'

Arsenal midfielder Edu will join Valencia on a five-year deal this summer, according to the Spanish club.

The 26-year-old has long been linked with the club and looks set to become one of new manager Quique Sanchez Flores's first signings.

Kluivert agrees Valencia transfer

Former Newcastle striker Patrick Kluivert has agreed to sign for Spanish club Valencia on a free transfer.

Kluivert's transfer to Valencia is subject to a medical on 9 June.

If Kluivert passes the medical he will sign a three-year contract with Valencia, the Primera Liga side said.

"Valencia is an enormous team and therefore I am very excited about this agreement," Kluivert was quoted as saying by Dutch media.

"I have good memories of Spain and therefore I'm glad to make my return, I'm looking forward to playing in the Primera Liga again."

pretty much. actually, Kluivert had never been consistent with his form since moved away from Ajax. he had a poor spell at AC Milan before moving to La Liga with Barca. he looked to be settled in the beginning, but injuries and poor form have cost him his place in the team. while Newcastle never looked to be the right place for Kluivert as he struggled to score and failed to hold down a regular place. hopefully that move to Valencia would get his career back on track. or should he just go back to Holland and play for Ajax again?

Kluivert Valencia deal hits a snag


Patrick Kluivert's move to Valencia has been put on hold for up to 20 days after a knee problem was detected during a medical, the Primera Liga club said on Friday.

Valencia said that an initial medical examination had revealed a problem in the player's left knee and that further tests would be needed to decide whether the move could go ahead.

The club said Kluivert had undergone arthroscopic surgery at the end of the season and that the after-effects of the operation meant they were unable to assess his knee.

'We want to be absolutely sure that he will be able to perform at the top level and we have decided to wait for between 15 and 20 days to allow time for further examination,' Valencia sporting director Javier Subirats told a news conference.

Kluivert finally passes Valencia medical

MADRID, June 20 (Reuters) - Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert is free to complete his move to Valencia after doctors gave his knee the all clear, the club said on Monday.

Kluivert was due to sign a three-year contract with the Primera Liga side until a knee problem was detected during a medical on June 10.

The club said they wanted to ensure the 28-year-old had fully recovered from arthroscopic surgery he underwent at the end of the season before completing the deal.

i think it'll be the 2nd and last chance for the manager Lopez to prove that he can bring the glory back to Mestalla like they did 2 seasons ago. just disappointed that a such quality team with many good players failed to shine and perform consistently. they should always be in top 4 and competing in Europe. that's where they belong.

Benitez was the one who brought Sissoko to Mestalla, so only he knows how good Sissoko is and how to work with him. current coach Lopez must have some different ideas in shaping up his team for the new season. but while they still have the likes of Albelda and Baraja in midfield, both are not young anymore and i think it's time to find new ones.

Free Miguel Heading To Valencia

Valencia are set to meet with Portuguese international Miguel's agent Paulo Barbosa today to seal the former Benfica star's signature.

Parma Bag Corradi

Bernardo Corradi will play with Serie A outfit Parma this season after Valencia agreed to loan him out to the Emiliani, on Tuesday.

The former Lazio striker was also being tracked by Sampdoria and Inter.

According to the deal, Valencia will still pay some of Corradi's rather hefty salary.

i think Di Vaio did OK last season although he had some poor performances. this season will be the true test for him, whether he's really capable of fighting for that regular place alongside Villa/Kuivert or not. i believe that Aimar will not interfere coz they play in different roles.

Sagnol Denies Valencia Agreement

Valencia could face a stiff competition from Juve if the they're still interested in signing Miguel. that's the end of his WC hope unless if he can recover much earlier than expected. it's a big blow for Valencia too coz Sanchez Flores can't depend too much on the ageing David Albelda to do the defensive job. and i'm not sure if they still have enough time to get another player.

Pablo Aimar will always make the difference when he plays and that's what Valencia have missed last season. the tinkering Ranieri and Lopez have all gone, and now i believe that Sanchez Flores will appreciate and benefit Aimar's abilities a lot more.
