hey ko mat.. lama gile tak nampak. bz atau dah kawin? hehehe.
Valencia are now in 6th place and they look desperate now to close the gap on top four. it won't be easy coz teams like Betis, Villareal and Sevilla are also in good form right now. i wish Antonio Lopez had taken over this team much earlier coz what Ranieri did was nothing more than a disaster for them. |

Ranieri chases Valencia for pay-out
Claudio Ranieri will begin legal proceedings against former club Valencia after failing to reach an agreement over his severance pay following his dismissal as coach last month. The two parties were unable to reach an amicable settlement at an arbitration meeting on Tuesday and the Italian's lawyer said that although he would continue to negotiate with Valencia, he would initiate legal action against the club. 'We have two months before we appear in person before the court and during that time we will try to reach an amicable settlement but I think it will be very difficult,' Juan de Dios Crespo told sports daily AS. Ranieri, who was sacked just eight months into a three-year deal with the club, is reported to be demanding the payment of the full 8.1 million euros ($10.47 million) he would have received if he had stayed until the end of his contract. http://soccernet.espn.go.com |

6th place in La Liga and a failure in Europe can be considered as a disastrous season for Valencia. they actually have the quality in terms of players, but something went wrong with their tactics and formation this season.. mainly because of Ranieri's approaches. all they can do now is to win all the remaining games and hope teams like Sevilla and Villareal will drop points in the next few matches.

the biggest mistaken from ranieri was he never want to play aimar. Somehow the long term injury of vicente effects a lots at their left frank attack.

maybe he thought that player like Fiore could do the job well enough even without Aimar, which proved to be a failure. Fiore has spent most of his time playing on right flank and never played regularly in the centre. only then Ranieri started to play Aimar after everything went wrong for them.

fiore can only play on the flank. either left or right. no matter what, from 7 teams who are chasing the 3rd n 4th spot in la liga... valencia n villareal will go through. come on la valencia... aku sokong ko dh lame gile dah nih. mase zaman romario main kt sane dh nih. btw that fellow ranieri is very stupid dumbass person la. from 18 possible point valencia leh dpt 1 point jek. bangang la die nih. but i heard next year they want to buy baros. kasi jual xisco, angulo n mista. give di vaio another season n use corradi's height for crucial game. just play their simple one touch tap n counter attack using vicente n rufete. fabio aurelio also can play flank what... good player but slalu injured. the most important is to sell that stupid angulo, cannubio, de los santos, n sume player yg xleh pakai.

Valencia 'negotiating' Baros transfer
Valencia president Juan Soler claims he is in talks with Liverpool striker Milan Baros. Soler told Valencia-based Radio 9 that the Czech Republic international was one of several targets for the summer as the Spanish side attempt to strengthen following a disappointing season. He said: 'We are negotiating with the Czech (Baros) and with four or five players of the same quality. Source: http://soccernet.espn.go.com |

poor valencia, i guess they have plenty of good strikers but why wanna chase for the another one? they need no to use a pure striker and still able to win the champion last season.

i actually never felt convinced since Ranieri took charge of the team early this season. i think most of the players couldn't adapt with his game plan and that proved costly. new signings like Fiore, Di Vaio and Corradi also didn't make much impact, while few key players like Vicente and Ayala were out for a long time because of injuries. that really affected the strength and balance in the team.
they still have 7 games to play but i'm afraid it could be too late to save their season. and they might just have to settle for a UEFA Cup spot. |

rileks la... valencia can do it. only 3 points seperate them with champions league spot. with 6 games to go... valencia will make it. but the two spots for champions league is quite competitive with 6 teams are chasing it. i think villareal n valencia will make through... amunt valencia!!!!
i hate angulo... but why he always be the fans fav player? i just don't understand... |

they can't be relax with that kind of form right now. and to make things worse, they couldn't beat a bottom club like Mallorca. that's quite disappointing for a club that has many quality players. unless they make rapid improvement in the remaining games, then i don't see how they can get that 4th spot.
and guess what? Vicente was in the team last night but he didn't play at all. |

maybe they know something that we don't. but we don't have to be Spanish to judge his ability.
i agree with josuya that Angulo is an overrated player. he never really made any great impact apart from the few crucial goals he scored early season. and he only started to play regularly after Benitez left for Liverpool. and for some reasons, Lopez is still using him until now although they have better options like Rufete and Vicente. kinda weird isn't it? |

Wasnt much due to 'indiscipline'. It was that he had some harsh words with Antiono Lopez when he was subsituted. Sure he score goals at times, but his performance during matches is at best 7/10. When Ranieri came, he changed a succesful system with Aimar at midfield and Mista as a forward, with Fiore, Di Vaio and that other Italian dude. hard now for Valencia to claim a CL spot, with Sevilla, Real Betis being quite good now.

going back to Serie A would always be the best option for any unsettled Italian player except Amadeo Carboni, Zola, Di Matteo, Di Canio, Lorenzo Amoruso and few others who had great spells in foreign leagues.
Di Vaio scored many goals with Juve and Parma in the past, and i'm not surprised that he's a top scorer for Valencia as well. i think he's having a fairly good 1st season in La Liga, but a bad attitude like that could affect his performance and relation with the team. u shouldn't react like that as a professional. |

Valencia's Vicente returns to training
Valencia winger Vicente returned to training with the first team on Tuesday after recovering from an ankle injury that has kept him out for most of the season. The Spanish international, who was one of Valencia's top performers as they won the Primera Liga and UEFA Cup last year, sustained the injury during his side's 2-1 Champions League defeat by Werder Bremen last September. The 23-year-old made a brief return to action in December but was forced to have an operation in January which ruled him out until now. Valencia, who play Numancia this weekend, are sixth in the Primera Liga with five games left. Source: http://soccernet.espn.go.com |

he probably needs 1 or 2 weeks to get to his full fitness again.. which i think is a bit risky. it would be better for Valencia to just get him ready for next season. it's been a disappointing season for Vicente because of that horrible injury.. and his absence has definitely affected his team's performance.

Numancia 1-1 Valencia
Valencia suffered a blow to their ambitions of Champions League football next season as they were held to a draw at bottom club Numancia, who live to fight another day in the Primera Liga. A defeat would have almost certainly condemned the hosts to Segunda Division football but they now find themselves 11 points from safety with four games to go and praying for favourable results in Sunday's set of fixtures. But it was yet another setback in a season of woe for Los Che with the only consolation being the comeback of talismanic winger Vicente, who opened the scoring as a second half substitute on his return from a long-term ankle injury. Seems like Ranieri's departure doesnt have any effects on them. They still play very poorly and most of the time, required some lucks to win matches.

i don't think Valencia will get that 4th spot after another poor result in their last game. and sankai80 is right, they don't seem to improve even under Antonio Lopez.. and he probably won't be at Mestalla next season. i think they should consider of bringing better coach.. probably Del Bosque.

Valencia's Torres out for 7 months
Valencia defender Curro Torres will be out for up to seven months after having surgery on his right knee in an effort to solve a long-running cartilage problem, the club said on Sunday. The 28-year-old right back damaged his cartilage in September and despite having an operation in January, has been troubled by knee pain ever since. Torres will miss his side's last game of the current campaign against Osasuna, and up to four months of next season. Source: http://soccernet.espn.go.com |

Arsenal midfielder Edu will join Valencia on a five-year deal this summer, according to the Spanish club. The 26-year-old has long been linked with the club and looks set to become one of new manager Quique Sanchez Flores's first signings. Valencia said on their website: "President (Juan Bautista) Soler has confirmed the signing of Edu, the Arsenal and Brazil player. "He will join on 1 July and will play for the team in the next five seasons." Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk |

Kluivert agrees Valencia transfer
Former Newcastle striker Patrick Kluivert has agreed to sign for Spanish club Valencia on a free transfer. Kluivert's transfer to Valencia is subject to a medical on 9 June. If Kluivert passes the medical he will sign a three-year contract with Valencia, the Primera Liga side said. "Valencia is an enormous team and therefore I am very excited about this agreement," Kluivert was quoted as saying by Dutch media. "I have good memories of Spain and therefore I'm glad to make my return, I'm looking forward to playing in the Primera Liga again." Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk |

pretty much. actually, Kluivert had never been consistent with his form since moved away from Ajax. he had a poor spell at AC Milan before moving to La Liga with Barca. he looked to be settled in the beginning, but injuries and poor form have cost him his place in the team. while Newcastle never looked to be the right place for Kluivert as he struggled to score and failed to hold down a regular place. hopefully that move to Valencia would get his career back on track. or should he just go back to Holland and play for Ajax again?

Spain leave it very late
Spain had a late, late Carlos Marchena goal to thank as they grabbed a point with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday. Zvjezdan Misimovic's first-half goal had looked like giving the Balkan minnows a shock win in Valencia only for Marchena to strike six minutes into injury time. Source: http://www.eurosport.com |

Kluivert Valencia deal hits a snag
Patrick Kluivert's move to Valencia has been put on hold for up to 20 days after a knee problem was detected during a medical, the Primera Liga club said on Friday. Valencia said that an initial medical examination had revealed a problem in the player's left knee and that further tests would be needed to decide whether the move could go ahead. The club said Kluivert had undergone arthroscopic surgery at the end of the season and that the after-effects of the operation meant they were unable to assess his knee. 'We want to be absolutely sure that he will be able to perform at the top level and we have decided to wait for between 15 and 20 days to allow time for further examination,' Valencia sporting director Javier Subirats told a news conference. Former Levante goalkeeper Juan Luis Mora has agreed a three-year contract with Valencia, the Primera Liga club said on Monday. Mora, 31, who will arrive on a free transfer subject to passing a medical, will compete with Santiago Canizares for a place in the starting lineup. Reserve keeper Andres Palop is expected to leave during the closed season. Mora is Valencia's third signing since the end of the league season, following in the footsteps of new coach Quique Sanchez Flores and Brazilian midfielder Edu. Source: http://soccernet.espn.go.com |

Kluivert finally passes Valencia medical
MADRID, June 20 (Reuters) - Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert is free to complete his move to Valencia after doctors gave his knee the all clear, the club said on Monday. Kluivert was due to sign a three-year contract with the Primera Liga side until a knee problem was detected during a medical on June 10. The club said they wanted to ensure the 28-year-old had fully recovered from arthroscopic surgery he underwent at the end of the season before completing the deal. More... |

how about Mista? he didn't do well last season did he? probably that will change as there's a Spanish striker to partner him now. Kluivert and Di Vaio are also there, so Lopez will have a tough time to choose his best striking force next season.

Kluivert pledges good behavior with Valencia
Patrick Kluivert said he will end his visits to nightclubs and parties and concentrate on reviving his career at Valencia. The Netherlands striker, who has a reputation as a party animal, said there'll be no need for Valencia to activate a clause in his three-year contract that allows it to be terminated if he misbehaves, news reports said Monday. "I'll be good at night," Kluivert was quoted as saying by news agency Europa Press. "I was optimistic I could sign for this club and it has come true," Kluivert said. i think it'll be the 2nd and last chance for the manager Lopez to prove that he can bring the glory back to Mestalla like they did 2 seasons ago. just disappointed that a such quality team with many good players failed to shine and perform consistently. they should always be in top 4 and competing in Europe. that's where they belong.

for me their biggest strength is always their fantastic midfield line.
if Aimar, Vicente, Baraja, Rufete n some others can reproduce the championship winning form, which they surely capable n should be, then they will b a great force to challenge. |

Valencia need to benchmark after what happen last season. Hope Kluivert will not be a wasteful new signing.

that move to Liverpool wasn't a surprise at all. Benitez was the one who brought Sissoko to Mestalla, so only he knows how good Sissoko is and how to work with him. current coach Lopez must have some different ideas in shaping up his team for the new season. but while they still have the likes of Albelda and Baraja in midfield, both are not young anymore and i think it's time to find new ones.

Free Miguel Heading To Valencia
Valencia are set to meet with Portuguese international Miguel's agent Paulo Barbosa today to seal the former Benfica star's signature. After the deals for Kromkamp and Sagnol feel through, los Ches jumped on their seats when they heard that Miguel was free after he annulled his contract with the Portughuese champs yesterday. The right wing, who is also being tracked by Fiorentina and Juventus, will probably join Valencia by the end of the week. There is only one slight worry for the Spanish outfit, and that is the legal problems they might incur in by signing him, as Benfica want to bring the player to court. from Goal.com =========================================== surprise !!! |

a big surprise i must say. Juve has been the hot favourite to sign Miguel, but like usual, Portuguese players always prefer to play in Spain rather than Italy. let's not forget that Valencia will not be playing in CL this season, so i guess Miguel will have a 2nd thought and reconsider his options.

Parma Bag Corradi
Bernardo Corradi will play with Serie A outfit Parma this season after Valencia agreed to loan him out to the Emiliani, on Tuesday. The former Lazio striker was also being tracked by Sampdoria and Inter. According to the deal, Valencia will still pay some of Corradi's rather hefty salary. Another clause of the agreement allows Parma to gain full ownership over the player at season's end. from Goal.com |

i think Di Vaio did OK last season although he had some poor performances. this season will be the true test for him, whether he's really capable of fighting for that regular place alongside Villa/Kuivert or not. i believe that Aimar will not interfere coz they play in different roles.

Sagnol Denies Valencia Agreement
Bayern's frenchman is a wanted figure this summer, with Lo Che the leading suitors for his signature. But the international right back says there is no agreement. "It is not true," he told German publication But!, "I can confirm Valencia wants me but the talks were never about money or contract matters." Valencia are desperate to land a proven right-back to cover and compete with the injury-prone Curro Torres in the forthcoming season. The Mestalla outfit pulled out of a deal to sign AZ's attacking full back Jan Kromkamp at the last minute (he ended up at rivals Villarreal), and are also tracking the pacy Portuguese Miguel, currently in a contract dispute with Benfica and also courted by Juventus. But Willy Sagnol has yet to make a decision over his much-discussed future. "We are only in August and I don't know yet what I will do next year." He has also moved to include remaining in Bavaria as a possible outcome."But it is also possible I will stay at Bayern for five more seasons." Precisely what Bayern's intentions are remains to be seen, as at least no tempting bid has been officially tabled for the player. from Goal.com |

Che re-enter Miguel race
Valencia have rekindled their interest in Benfica full back Miguel. The Primera outfit are desperate to land a new right back ahead of the new campaign following an injury to Curro Torres. However, the Spaniards are also monitoring Dutch internationals Andre Ooijer and Johnny Heitinga should Miguel prove too difficult a target to land. http://footballmsn.skysports.com/li...e&channel=spain ================== Sounds like a good move . |

Miguel is still in a contract dispute with Benfica now as the club refused to sell, while the player himself wants a move to either Spain or Italy. Valencia could face a stiff competition from Juve if the they're still interested in signing Miguel. Juve has a slight advantage coz they'll be in CL, while Valencia only play in domestic competitions for this coming season.

Valencia snatch Miguel
Benfica defender Miguel Monteiro has joined Valencia of Spain on a five-year contract, the Lisbon club said on Thursday. The 25-year-old international, who cancelled an extension of his contract to 2008 with the Portuguese champions, will complete the move after medical tests. Benfica did not reveal the transfer fee, which has been put at eight million euros ($9.78 million) in Portuguese media reports. Source: http://www.eurosport.com |

that's the end of his WC hope unless if he can recover much earlier than expected. it's a big blow for Valencia too coz Sanchez Flores can't depend too much on the ageing David Albelda to do the defensive job. and i'm not sure if they still have enough time to get another player.

Pablo Aimar will always make the difference when he plays and that's what Valencia have missed last season. the tinkering Ranieri and Lopez have all gone, and now i believe that Sanchez Flores will appreciate and benefit Aimar's abilities a lot more.

ahaa.. yea that old corpse Carboni. still playing brilliantly at 40.
i'm not trying to say that Italians can't really make it in La Liga, but the history tells us itself. there were not many Italians who came here and succeed for a very a long time as they only lasted for 2 or 3 seasons max. the best examples were Vieri, Panucci and Corradi. |

Kluivert To Miss Barca Reunion
Ex-Barcelona forward Patrick Kluivert has been ruled out for Valencia's trip to the Nou Camp, due to acute tendonitis in the right knee. The Dutch striker enjoyed a great spell with the Catalans, but was later forced out after losing form, and eventually compatriot Rijkaard's faith. A move to Newcastle didn't work out, and saw him lose a place in the Dutch squad as well. He has since moved to Valencia, and was reported to have been eagerly awaiting a trip to the Nou Camp, both to meet up with friends, and to prove that he still has the fire in him. As revealed on Valencia's official page, the tendonitis was discovered after detailed investigations into Kluivert's experiencing pain in his knee, which forced him to retire from the training session. He has since been advised anti-inflammatory treatment along with physiotherapy, and will certainly miss tomorrow's clash. Fans on both sides will be disappointed, as there was huge anticipation, even in the Barcelona press, about Kluivert's return. from Goal.com =============================================== oh... too bad... |

what? Barca fans haven't lost that love feeling with Kluivert?
it's been a decent start for Valencia and they should've won the last game if not for their own mistakes. Aimar played well in the 1st half but was very lucky not to be sent off for spitting. |

Che in for Santa Cruz
Spanish outfit Valencia are the latest club linked with an interest in Bayern Munich's unsettled striker Roque Santa Cruz, according to reports in the German media. The 24-year-old Paraguayan is frustrated about his failure to break into Felix Magath's first-team on a regular basis and unless his status is going to change in the next few months, he is expected to leave the Allianz Arena when his contract expires in nine months' time. Hertha Berlin had been regarded as favourites to win his signature next summer after holding initial talks with the former Olympia Ascuncion ace. However, Kicker claims that Valencia coach Quique Flores might scupper those plans. More... |

I'd be happy if we can get him for free, let's think realistically...Kluivert ain't his old best anymore, probably can last us 1-2 season only, so might as well get a new striker just in case

i have a feeling that it's going to be a very good season for Valencia. Villa is in top form, Aimar back to where he belongs and performed so well in the last game. both goals were created by great moves. it's much different team now compared to last season under Antonio Lopez. too bad they didn't make it to UEFA Cup, but that allows them to fully concerntrate on the league.

QUOTE(nck_ck @ Sep 28 2005, 03:51 AM) Thanks to a certain Mr. Ranieri... u know why Ranieri didn't play Aimar? i remember he said that the Argentinian was too small to play in La Liga. what a silly excuse. Yup, it's a really good thing to see Aimar getting back into 1st team action, didn't know why that Italian dude never liked playing Aimar...made me realllllllllll angry.....summore the face look like sembelit 24/7 it's always crucial to have a playmaker like him in the centre. we could say that Baraja and Albelda are still there, but they're not as good as Aimar when it comes to vision and creativity. Aimar isn't the biggest player of all, but that doesn't stop him to be one of the best. his combination with Vicente on the left side has always been excellent and dangerous to their rivals. all teams including Real and Barca should always be aware of that. |

@theripper, i totally agree with u. While Baraja and Albelda steer the midfield stability, it is Aimar who adds the flow of creativity into their game...The idiotic Ranieri said he was too small, but then how come he's been playing so when even BEFORE Ranieri took charge of the team?

Carboni Takes Over 'Grandfather' Tag
At Forty years, five months and twenty-three days Valencia defender Amedeo Carboni has become the oldest player in the history of the Spanish first division. The Italian full-back takes the mantle from former Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Donato. Carboni looks like holding the record for some time, too. The next oldest player in La Liga is Sevilla's Alfaro, born 24/4/1969. Down the years Carboni has been known for his tough-tackling defensive play, picking up several red and yellow cards along the way. from Goal.com =================================================== still looking good now. |

i think most of the defenders and goalkeepers are capable of staying longer than the midfield player or striker. Nestor Sensini of Udinese was still playing at 40, while Maldini, Cafu and others have also past 35 but still going strong.

Flores: Di Vaio Not In My Plans
Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores has confirmed that Marco Di Vaio is not in his current plans. The Italian international has been in and out of the team since moving from Juventus last summer, and only looks set for a bit-part role this season. "Sometimes he does some nice things, but he remains outside my plans at the moment," said Flores. "I have explained the reasons why and believe he is grateful that I have done so face-to-face." A return to Italy, either in January or next summer, looks the most likely option for Di Vaio. from Goal.com ================================================== say bye bye to Marco. |

@Abangpedro, i was away for quite some time cause was in overseas for 2 weeks...that's y u didn't see me post a lot here...
Ya i agree, 32 years old is not too old for a defender, as long as u can still keep performing...i always like to see 2 center backs with 1 being older to organize and control the defence, while the other a younger fella to do all the running work...True la, Valencia don't have super solid defence as before, but as long as we keep banging in more goals against opponents and get 3 points, that's all that matters!!! |

Somehow the team isn't performing as well as they should...with the talents in our team, even an away game to Villareal shouldn't really be a problem...our away form isn't really good, so far only 1 win, the rest are draws and loses...

Kluivert In Swipe At Valencia Coach
Valencia striker Patrick Kluivert has criticised coach Quique Flores after he came on as a substitute for the final three minutes in the 1-0 defeat to Villarreal at the weekend. The Dutchman has featured sparingly for the Ches since his move from Newcastle in the summer, with injury playing a major role in his lack of first-team football. "I do not want to create controversy about this situation, it is a decision of the trainer," said Kluivert. "But I cannot change a game in three minutes. Quique was a player and would have to know this." He added: "I know I'm the only one who can change this, he has his thoughts and I will have to work more to convince him I can start games." from Goal.com ================================================= as expected, Kluivert juz cant shut his mouth for long. |

Di Vaio snubs Italian return
Despite enduring an unhappy spell at Valencia, Marco Di Vaio has said that he will not be leaving Spain in January. Di Vaio, who was signed by Claudio Ranieri at the beginning of last season, has not had a happy time at the Mestalla. Since Ranieri's sacking last year, the former Parma and Juve striker has found himself increasingly out of favour under Coach Antonio Lopez and has not started a single game this term. Nevertheless, despite having been contacted by both Milan clubs, the 29-year-old has denied the possibility of any January return to Italy. More... ================================================== i actually quite surprise to see him still there for so long. This post has been edited by Chrisky: Nov 16 2005, 09:14 AM |

yep, there's no much difference between 3rd and 8th place teams. the only problem with Valencia is that like Real, they don't really look consistent so far at this stage of the season. perhaps the real form would come later when the fight to the top 3 is getting close to the end.

how about bringing Hector Cuper back? Valencia played a great football under him. history could be repeated. i'm not talking about having Mendieta, Kily, Lopez or Carew back in the team, just believe that with the right players and the right coach, they would have a great chance to get back to the highest level.

That's the thing...bringing same coach back doesn't guarantee u same success...was hearing the commentary about Harry Redknapp returning, but what are the odds of Portsmouth doing well under him again? The majority of the squad members are different ppl already...it's the same case with Valencia, sure, the core players such as Albelda and Baraja are still around, but doesn't mean Cuper would definitely bring back success. Furthermore, he's having his own struggles in Mallorca anyway...i'm still holding out to pass judgement on our new manager, he ain't doing too bad now, right?

Di Vaio joins Monaco on loan
Monaco have completed the six-month loan signing of Italian striker Marco Di Vaio from Valencia. The principality club have also secured an option to sign Di Vaio, 29, at the end of the season. The international forward, who was also said to be an Inter target, becomes Francesco Guidolin's first signing as Monaco Coach. Formerly of Juventus and Parma, Di Vaio has featured just five times in La Liga this season and is keen to play more regularly to improve his chances of making Italy's World Cup squad. More... ================================================= Monaco seem to b a fav home for out-of-fav strikers. |

Ayala targets March comeback after knee op
MADRID, Jan 10 (Reuters) - Valencia's Argentine international defender Roberto Ayala says he is making a good recovery from knee surgery and believes he will be able to return to action for the club in March. 'I'm feeling good and more relaxed after the operation because it showed that the knee was in good shape,' the 32-year-old centre back told a news conference on Tuesday. 'They cleaned out what was causing me the pain and I'm making excellent progress. I don't want to put myself under pressure but I think that I should be available for selection in March.' Ayala, who is a fixture in Jose Pekerman's Argentina squad, said that his number one priority was to recover his form for his club and that he was not thinking about his return to the national side. 'I'm very upset about not playing especially as the team (Valencia) have improved. I'm not thinking about the World Cup, but rather about playing and performing well for the club.' After making a shaky start to the season, Valencia are in third place in the Primera Liga, six points behind Osasuna and 10 adrift of leaders Barcelona. Source: Soccernet Glad to hear him recovering. |

Valencia set sights on leaders Barcelona
QUOTE In-form Valencia tackle second-placed Osasuna at home in the Primera Liga on Saturday, confident that they can mount a title challenge to leaders Barcelona. Quique Sanchez Flores's side have crept up to third in the league on the back of a seven match unbeaten run, though they remain six points short of Osasuna and 10 adrift of Barca. 'It is reckless to say Barcelona are already champions,' Flores told a news conference. 'They are about to lose one of their most decisive players (Samuel Eto'o to the African Nations Cup) for up to a month while playing in three competitions, with a high profile match against Chelsea in the Champions League to boot. 'I don't think Barca will be able to maintain their pace and they still have to play us at home, so we shouldn't lose faith.' Valencia eliminated Villarreal in the King's Cup on Wednesday and have not conceded a goal for five consecutive matches in all competitions. Osasuna have struggled since the winter break and were knocked out of the King's Cup by Deportivo Coruna on Wednesday, and lost their 100 percent home record in the league drawing 1-1 with Racing Santander last weekend. Their two leadings scorers, Savo Milosevic and Pierre Webo, are missing due to injury and African Nations Cup commitments respectively. |

OHHHH NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Valencia lose Vicente to ankle ligaments MADRID, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Valencia winger Vicente will be out of action for between four and six weeks with an ankle injury. The 24-year-old Spaniard damaged the ligaments in his right ankle during his side's 2-0 victory over Osasuna on Saturday. The midfielder, who is a regular in the national side, missed most of last season after suffering a similar injury to his left ankle. Valencia moved up to third in the table, three points behind Osasuna and 10 behind Barcelona. From soccernet.com |

Vicente is injured, so he's definitely not playing. they still has few other options like Rufete and Viana, and these 2 are capable of playing on both flanks. Vicente's absence is a big blow to Valencia coz they've been in great form. 3 wins and 2 draws from the last 5 games tell u everything.

Valencia lost to Depor 0-1 first game for Copa Del Ray. Hope we can overturned that at Mestalla.
It's a penalty goal after a tussle between Capdevilla and Albiol 11th min from time. But Depor playin wif 10 men. |

Marchena given three-match ban
Valencia centre-back Carlos Marchena was banned for three matches on Friday after being sent off in the King's Cup quarter-final tie against Deportivo Coruna. The Spanish Football Federation Competitions' Committee said they had handed out a heavy punishment because it was not the first time the defender had been sent off this season. Marchena was dismissed in the eighth minute of Wednesday's second leg at the Mestalla after he struck Angel Arizmendi in the face as the Deportivo striker headed towards goal. The Spanish international told the Canal Nou television station he regretted the incident. 'I didn't intend to hurt him,' he said. 'I'm sorry about what happened and I'm relieved I didn't do him any damage.' Source: http://soccernet.espn.go.com |

QUOTE Deportivo will play Espanyol in the other semi-final after they knocked out Valencia in their rescheduled match. The game had been abandoned just before half time a week ago after a linesman was hit by an object thrown from the crowd, and the remaining minutes (which had to be played behind closed doors) almost didn't take place after the visitors tried to persuade the disciplinary committee and then a local judge that they should be awarded the tie. David Villa had cancelled out Sergio's first leg penalty just before the game was suspended, but another hotly disputed penalty which Víctor converted in the second half made it 1-1 and took the Galicians through. Damn another penalty by Depor.........so they advance with 2-1 agg (both goal came from penalty |

I'd be happy if Barcelona can steal a point from Valencia this week. I know Mestalla has been good ground for Barca in the last couple of seasons but I I'd be happy with a draw. Yes, 1 point will do!

Valencia reignite title race
Valencia breathed new life into the Spanish title race on Sunday, snatching a 1-0 win at home to Barcelona that left them just six points behind the champions at the top of the table. The match was decided by a dreadful error from Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes who scuffed the ball into the path of David Villa shortly before halftime, allowing the Valencia striker to lob the ball into an empty net. Barca, who were missing influential trio Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi and Deco but welcomed back leading striker Samuel Eto'o from the African Nations Cup, were unable to prise open Valencia's rugged defence as they slipped to a second successive league defeat. He's doing well at Valencia currently. Its just that these days he's not as popular as
Messi,Robinho,Ronaldinho. He is one of the most talented player in Liga. When he's on form he's a superb player.Im not saying he's not on form.He used to get more ball when Vicente play, but vicente is injured right now.Ruguero doesnt feed him the ball as many as Vicente do.That's why he doesnt shine lately. Collectively Aimar form a great combination with Villa & Vicente. They are one of the the best attacking force in Spain. Just like Barca's Gaucho, Eto'o & Messi. Some people brand him as the unluckiest guy in Liga.coz of injury & stuff. |

QUOTE(ifer @ Feb 24 2006, 08:21 AM) No disrespect to Maradona, but Maradona has been using too much hallucinogens and sometime he has no idea what himself is saying. Our beloved Maradona once said Ortega was the symbol of the Argentina NT, Aimar was his natural successor, Riquelme was sensational but lacked marketing power, D'Alessandro was the only Argentine he would pay to watch, Carlos Tvez reminded him(Maradona) of himself, Messi should be wearing #10 in the WC 2006.....I really can't wait for Maradona to say something like Ronaldino should go and play for Argentina one day. |

La Liga: Valencia hoping for Barca, Real slip
QUOTE MADRID, Feb 23 (Reuters) - High-profile Champions League distractions for Barcelona and Real Madrid give Valencia a chance to profit from any slip-ups in the Primera Liga this weekend. Second-placed Valencia, who are six points behind leaders Barcelona and a point ahead of Real in third, have home advantage against Getafe on Sunday as they look to extend their unbeaten league run to 14 games. While the press champions the traditional rivalry between Barca and Real, the 2004 league champions are quietly confident they can achieve more than just a place in next season's Champions League competition. Valencia defender David Navarro said: 'Our objective is a top-four finish but we are not ruling out a shot at the title. 'We won't get too carried away with the idea but if there are any slip-ups we'll make the most of them. 'If the other sides continue in Europe it will mean more games for them and mean they are more tired, which is good for us, but we need to remain focused on what we do, not what they do.' Valencia's run has been all the more impressive for having been achieved without defensive stalwart Roberto Ayala, new signing Edu and winger Vicente, all internationals, who are close to making returns from their respective injuries. The visit of Getafe has added spice for Valencia boss Quique Sanchez Flores as he takes on his former club, now coached by Bernd Schuster, who have struggled of late. The leaders visit King's Cup finalists Real Zaragoza on Saturday on a high from their impressive 2-1 away win over Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday. But Frank Rijkaard's side will be wary of a repeat of their heaviest defeat this season, inflicted in Zaragoza a month ago, as he considers possible squad rotations to rest players. Zaragoza stunned Barca with a 4-2 win, which included three goals in the opening 27 minutes in their Cup quarter-final first leg, from which they went on to knock Barca out 5-4 on aggregate. Real travel to face lowly Real Mallorca on Sunday still licking their wounds from a demoralising 1-0 home defeat to Arsenal in their midweek Champions League clash. The poor performance from the side and Ronaldo's untimely comments to the press before the game have punctured the bubble of optimism that had surrounded the club. Real have won their last six league outings but have been thrown by Ronaldo's claims that he feels unloved by the fans and that he will consider leaving at the end of the season. Jonathan Woodgate and Pablo Garcia are out injured while Guti and Ronaldo are doubts. Although 18th in the table Mallorca could prove tricky opposition after new coach Gregorio Manzano led the islanders to their first win in ten attempts, on his debut game back at the club last weekend at Malaga. Valencia dropped 2 pts after a draw with Getafe and Navarro the scorer but the good news is we still maintain at 2nd place as Galactico went down 1-2 to Mallorca.

Whoa, Valencia were lucky that ronaldo did not score... We are now still above RM in 2nd place on goal difference...
Who are we playing later today, btw? Speaking of that, Barca won 2-0 yesterday, so we are now further behind... Its getting tough to grab the La Liga from them, that's for sure! |

My god, what is happening to our team? First, our unbeaten run ended at the hands of Santander, and now draw with Villareal
Looks like the other two Spanish giants of Valencia and RM are struggling, resulting in Osasuna getting second place from nowhere! |

Wah, Valencia is becoming like Livorno... Progressing so strongly and then all of a sudden, playing like a mid-table team plus sliding down the table... Don't somehow have Sevilla overtaking Valencia, then our Champs League plans for 2006/7 will go down the drain...
Come on, lets hope for Los Ches to bounce back for the next weekend game! This post has been edited by ClieNut Gadget Freak: Mar 30 2006, 12:15 PM |

Aimar suffering from viral meningitis
Valencia's Argentine international midfielder Pablo Aimar is suffering from a form of viral meningitis, the Primera Liga club said on Thursday. The 26-year-old, a key player in Argentine coach Jose Pekerman's World Cup plans, was admitted to hospital on Wednesday after complaining of fever and headaches. Subsequent tests confirmed that he was suffering from the condition. 'At the moment the patient is stable and his initial condition has improved,' neurologist Jose Tatai Ramirez told the club's website. 'He will need to remain in hospital to see how he evolves and responds to the prescribed treatment. Source: http://soccernet.espn.go.com |

Besiktas Keen On Kluivert
Besiktas are reportedly interested in signing Patrick Kluivert from Valencia. The Dutchman has endured an injury-ravaged season with the Spanish outfit after moving on a free transfer from Newcastle last summer. Reports suggest that the Turkish giants have contacted the player's representative to find out about his contractual situation at the Mestalla. Kluivert has a deal that runs until 2008, but with the club reportedly on the lookout for a new striker in the summer, they may be looking to offload the former Barcelona star sooner rather than later. from Goal.com ================================================= guess thats time's up for him. |

Aimar leaves hospital after meningitis treatment
QUOTE Valencia's Argentina midfielder Pablo Aimar left hospital on Wednesday after being treated for a form of viral meningitis. 'I am looking forward to playing again as soon as possible and helping my team over their remaining league matches,' Aimar told the club's website. No date was given for the 26-year-old's return to training. Aimar, a key figure in Argentine coach Jose Pekerman's World Cup plans, was admitted to hospital a week ago complaining of fever and headaches. Doctors said it was a benign form of meningitis that would not have any permanent consequences. Valencia are second in the Primera Liga, 11 points behind leaders Barcelona with five games left. |

La Liga: Valencia slip could hand Barca title
QUOTE MADRID, April 21 (Reuters) - Barcelona will be presented with their first chance to claim the league title this weekend if rivals Valencia fail to beat relegation-threatened Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. As long as Valencia lose or draw against the Basque side in the early match, the Catalans will be able to secure their second successive league crown with victory at sixth-placed Sevilla in Sunday's late match. With bigger European fish to fry, Barca coach Frank Rijkaard may decide to rest some players for the Sevilla game. The Dutchman's most pressing concern is to ensure his side head into the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against AC Milan with a full complement of fit players. Barca beat the Italians 1-0 at the San Siro on Tuesday but they have suffered a string of injuries recently. Defender Oleguer is the latest to join the absentee list and Rijkaard is likely to take a cautious approach to the Sevilla match. His team enjoy a 11-point lead over Valencia at the top of the table with only five games left and he knows the title will drop into Barcelona's lap sooner or later. Striker Samuel Eto'o would like the issue settled as soon as possible. "We all want to win the league as soon as we can," the Cameroon international said this week. "If we get the chance why shouldn't we take it? "As for being rested, I feel more tired if I don't play. I need to play to feel right." MOAR Well it almost impossible due to the huge gap and hoping Catalan to lose all their remaining game. |

Hopefully Villa will get the chance he deserves...he's been in top form this season. But then again, the under-achieving curse might just strike Spain again...

Argentina's Aimar back in action for Valencia
QUOTE MADRID, April 30 (Reuters) - Argentine international Pablo Aimar returned to action for Valencia in their league match at home to Alaves on Sunday, just over two weeks after being admitted to hospital with viral meningitis. The 26-year-old midfielder, a key player in Argentine coach Jose Perkerman's World Cup plans, spent a week in hospital in mid-April after going down with the benign form of the illness. |

The season after they lost the final they still perform in CL.Remember they knock the mighty arsenal out of CL(That time Arsenal was the master of EPL,like Chelsea today). They lost to Inter on away goals.Still they play the best attacking football ive seen from Valencia in the 2nd leg match against inter.True after that season they dont perform well in CL.Not just in CL, they also dont perform well in liga,Yes they win the liga, but with small numbers of goals(Baraja being the top scorer),They draw more than they win. That season real was the only contender for Liga title.Barcelona was crap.Later Benitez leave the club. Then Ranieri came, then Flores. What im trying to say is Valencia is not the team they used to be.The days of Hector Cuper & Benitez have long gone.Thats why they dont perform. But im optimistic that they will perform next season,in Liga & CL. |

Che linked to Atletico star
By Francisco Acedo - Created on 10 May 2006 QUOTE Valencia are reported to have opened talks over the transfer of Atletico Madrid midfielder Gabi. Gabi's agent Manuel Garcia Quilon has been in contact with Valencia president Juan Soler with a view to a euro2 million transfer. Deportivo La Coruna are also thought to be keen on the 22-year-old but Valencia's participation in next season's UEFA Champions League could tip the balance in the Mestalla outfit's favour. As could the presence of Che coach Quique Sanchez Flores who knows the player well from their successful time together at Getafe. Gabi's contract with Atletico does not expire until the summer of 2008 but, with the player deemed to be surplus to requirements, a transfer could soon be in the offing. |

Carboni takes up Valencia role
By Lucas Brown - Created on 12 May 2006 QUOTE Amadeo Carboni has accepted the position of director of sport at Valencia after deciding to retire at the end of the current season. The Italian defender broke the Spanish age record when he appeared for Quique Sanchez Flores's side aged 41 and is an idol to the Mestalla supporters. "In life you have to make decisions and some proposals are difficult to turn down," he explained. "It is unbelievable of the club to choose me not just for my ability, but for my personality. "I have no experience of the duties required of a director of sport and it is a great honour. "For me, the most important thing is the person and after that the worker. I think that having a different point of view will be good for the club. Critics of Carboni's appointment believe that his role could conflict with Sanchez Flores's, but he is quick to dismiss any problems between them. "Everyone must know that the club is more important than any one person," added Carboni "The coach took on the philosophy of the club and here we have a boss and that is the president." Carboni received a rapturous send-off after Valencia's last home game of the season following their draw with Atletico Madrid last weekend and the move to keep such a popular figure at the club has been well received by the fans. |

QUOTE(Abangpedro @ May 15 2006, 10:59 PM) Well, Vicente is still nursing his injury, so i'm kinda glad Aragones not gonna risk him, but then again, Spain has so many good wingers, it's not even a worry. Baraja not at his peak this season, plus with the emergence of Fabregas, i kinda expected him to lose out his spot. Good to see our Albelda, Marchena, Canizares and David Villa in the squad..Surprised to see Marcos Senna in the squad though, but he's really good, especially at free kicks. This post has been edited by nck_ck: May 16 2006, 12:50 AM |

Morientes leaves Liverpool for Valencia
www.soccernet.com QUOTE Liverpool have announced that striker Fernando Morientes has joined Valencia for an undisclosed fee. The 30-year-old former Real Madrid striker failed to live up to his reputation during his 16 months on Merseyside and managed just 12 goals in 61 games for the Reds. He was left out of the Spanish squad for this summer's World Cup after failing to play a major role in the Liverpool first team last season. A statement on Liverpool's official website read: 'Everybody at Liverpool would like to wish `Nando' all the best with his new club in Spain.' Morientes joined Liverpool in January 2005 for £6.3million from Real but struggled to adapt to the Premiership. The move, for a fee believed to be less than £3million, comes just two days after Morientes' agent said the player would not be returning to Spain this summer. Liverpool were linked with a swap deal with Valencia's Marco Di Vaio, until the Italian forward snubbed talk of him moving to the Barclays Premiership club. Kluivert among Valencia quintet shown the door
QUOTE MADRID, July 5 (Reuters) - Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert has been told to look for another team after being left out of the squad for Valencia's pre-season training camp in the Netherlands. LINKItalian trio Marco Di Vaio, Bernardo Corradi and Stefano Fiore as well as Spanish midfielder Francisco Rufete were also omitted from the squad as they too are deemed surplus to requirements by coach Quique Sanchez Flores. "They will all start training later and during the intervening period they will be given time to look for another team," Sanchez Flores told reporters on Wednesday. Former Barcelona striker Kluivert has been plagued by injuries since joining Valencia from Newcastle United last June. His move to the Primera Liga club was originally delayed for three weeks because of a problem in his left knee that was detected in the medical. He eventually completed the move, but subsequently suffered a series of problems in his right knee which required surgery in February. He played just 202 minutes of league football for Valencia in the season. Valencia's signing of Fernando Morientes and the fine form of David Villa, who was the top Spanish striker in the Primera Liga last season, mean that the club no longer requires the Dutchman. |

Che aim to seal Del Horno deal
skysports.com QUOTE Primera Liga outfit Valencia are hoping to complete the signing of Chelsea full back Asier Del Horno later this week. The Che are currently settling on a payment method for the proposed £4.75 million transfer fee with their Premiership counterparts, after reportedly clinching a deal with the player himself. Del Horno did not do enough to impress Jose Mourinho in his debut season in English football, and now looks set to return to Spain after moving to The Blues from Athletic Bilbao last summer. Valencia sporting director Amedeo Carboni, who flew to London on Thursday to broker a deal, is hopeful of securing the left back's signature within the next seven days. "We are in negotiations with Chelsea and we hope to solve the situation this week," said Carboni However, the Che official played down the Spanish club's interest in Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Portuguese international seemingly intent on pursuing a career in La Liga. Ronaldo has been linked with a move to Real Madrid as well as long term suitors Valencia after sparking intense speculation over his future by voicing his desire to leave The Premiership, but Carboni says the Che have not yet made a formal approach for the talented winger despite manager Quique Sanchez Flores indicating his interest. "I have read what the player said regarding his wish to play in the Spanish league next season," Carboni added. "Many clubs have made a move but for the time being, we are not one of them." United are determined to keep hold of the former Sporting starlet, and Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson remains convinced that his young charge will return to Old Trafford for pre-season training. "Cristiano will be coming back," said the United chief. Any reports of a rift with Wayne Rooney following the England man's sending off in the World Cup quarter final appear to be wide of the mark with the former Everton striker insisting he has no problem with Ronaldo, but the Portugal star is still likely to be targeted by opposition fans in the coming campaign. |

Valencia seal deal for Del Horno
teamtalk.com QUOTE The clubs agreed on a fee - thought to be £4.8million - for Del Horno, and he successfully agreed personal terms with the Primera Liga club, where he will replace Fabio Aurelio after the Brazilian's move to Liverpool. The 25-year-old joined Premiership champions Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao for £8million last summer but struggled to hold down a regular place in Jose Mourinho's side. He played a part in Chelsea winning their second successive Premiership title but could now be replaced at Stamford Bridge by Arsenal and England left-back Ashley Cole. Spanish giants Valencia announced the signing on their club website and declared that Del Horno would be paraded alongside fellow new recruit Fernando Morientes on Monday. Chelsea lose over £3million on Spain international Del Horno, who was sent off for a clumsy challenge on Lionel Messi in the 2-1 Champions League defeat by Barcelona in February. His departure has left Wayne Bridge as the only recognised left-back at Stamford Bridge, although French central defender William Gallas can play in the position and was often used in place of Del Horno last season. With Del Horno gone, Mourinho has freed up space in the squad for Cole to complete his reported £16million transfer, which could go through in the coming week. Cole fits the bill as a world-class full-back, with his return to fitness and form in the World Cup underlining his credentials. Bridge has been given a public vote of confidence with Mourinho praising his condition after a loan spell at Fulham and he looks set to stay with the Premiership champions. Mourinho, speaking at the launch of the club's new kit on Thursday, refused to comment on speculation linking him with Cole but did say Chelsea would buy a replacement should Del Horno leave. "Ashley Cole is an Arsenal player. It's not correct to say anything about him," he said. "We have Wayne Bridge back. His spirit at Fulham was good and it was a good move for him and for us. If we sell Del Horno we will have a space in our squad. "But if Del Horno goes back to Spain we will need a good left-back. The transfer window is open and for sure we'll have two left-backs." |

Atletico agree deal with Valencia for striker Mista
QUOTE MADRID, July 26 (Reuters) - Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal with Valencia for striker Mista, the Primera Liga club said on Wednesday. The 27-year-old, who has won three caps for Spain, will join on a four-year contract after undergoing a medical on Thursday. Spanish media have said the deal is worth around five million euros ($6.30 million). Although Mista made 29 appearances for Valencia last season 19 were as a substitute with coach Quique Sanchez Flores preferring Pablo Aimar and David Villa to lead the line. Striker Fernando Morientes's arrival from Liverpool appeared to have made him surplus to requirements with Valencia. Mista top scored in the Primera Liga with 19 goals in the 2003/4 season when Valencia last won the league title. He is the latest in a string of signings by Atletico who have already bought forward Sergio Aguero, midfielder Costinha and defenders Ze Castro, Mariano Pernia and Yourkas Seitaridis. Goodbye Mista, one of my favorite players who has been unfortunately underrated. May u have a good career in Athletico. |

Yup that's true.
Breaking News: Zaragoza Sign Aimar From Valencia Real Zaragoza have completed the signing of Pablo Aimar from Valencia. QUOTE The Argentine international was set for a move away after it was revealed that he did not figure in the plans of Quique Sanchez Flores. Zaragoza seem to have pounced on the opportunity, and agreed a cut-price deal for the playmaker. Aimar, 26, will leave Valencia today, and is set to become one of the biggest signings in the history of Zaragoza. The player showed up at Valencia's training session today, and bid farewell to his team-mates one by one. Quique Sanchez Flores was conspicuous by his absence. He made his first team debut for River Plate at 16 years of age, and after a sparkling spell for the Argentine giants, was snapped up by Valencia during the winter transfer window of the 2000-01 season. He made immediate impact again, putting in some great displays as Los Ches made it to their second consecutive Champions League final that season. He has played just under 200 games for Valencia in five-and-a-half years, scoring over 40 goals, in addition to numerous assists. He has also won two Primera Liga titles, one Uefa Cup, and one European Supercup, in addition to reaching that Champions League final. Goal.com |

Im not surprised at all.Actually the rumors has been circulating around a month ago.
Do not fret,we have David Silva.21 yrs old playmaker, plays for spain U-21.He is as highly rated as Jaime Gavilan.Aimar's departure leave space for Silva to prove his worth next season. And if we get Raul Garcia, we will have 4 brightest prospect for future Spanish NT. Albiol,Gavilan,Silva,&Raul Garcia. btw...we sold rubbish to Atletico. How on earth did we get Atletico to buy Mista for 5m. |

Morientes starts Charlton demolition in Valencia
Valencia 3-1 Charlton QUOTE Charlton were well beaten by Valencia with an opening goal from former Liverpool striker Fernando Morientes setting the Spaniards on the way to victory at the Mestalla. Valencia captain Ruben Baraja put his side two up inside the the first half-hour and, although the Addicks pulled a goal back through Gonzalo Sorondo early in the second half, the home side finished the scoring when David Silva netted late on. Charlton found themselves on the back foot almost from the kick-off and keeper Thomas Myhre's block from left-back Cerra fell to Miguel Angulo, whose shot went over. Myrhe was beaten in the 16th minute when Morientes escaped Talal El Karkouri to get on to the end of Curro Torres' cross and guide the ball past the Norwegian. El Karkouri's block on Mario Regueiro moments later saved an almost certain goal but the Spaniards scored a second in the 28th minute when Baraja drove the ball home from 20 yards out. El Karkouri was then forced off with what looked like a groin problem with Iain Dowie introducing Sorondo as his replacement. Charlton started the second half strongly with new signing Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink finding Darren Ambrose on the left of the Valencia box. The England Under-21 international dodged through two challenges but saw his shot diverted for a corner, which came to nothing. The Addicks did get a goal back two minutes after the break, however, when a corner from second-half substitute Lloyd Sam found Sorondo and the Uruguayan's header beat Valencia keeper Ludovic Butelle. However, the home side looked the better team in the second half and might have scored again through Morientes before Silva's late header got the better of Stephen Andersen, who had come on for Myrhe at the break. Wow, Morientes score in friendly........guess he suits here well. This post has been edited by Abangpedro: Jul 30 2006, 11:32 PM |

Simao's Valencia move collapses
skysports.com QUOTE Valencia's move for Benfica winger Simao Sabrosa has fallen through. The Spanish side were hoping to announce the signing of Simao after agreeing a deal with Benfica earlier this week. The Portuguese winger has been linked with a move away from Benfica for some time and Valencia thought they had finally got their man. Simao travelled to Spain for talks over the weekend, but an agreement over personal terms could not be reached. Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira confirmed the deal had broken down because personal terms could not be agreed. "We have always said that we were available to find a solution that allowed Simao and his family to find a better life. This is what we did," said Vieira. "Simao has concrete ideas about his worth and what he wants. "For the offer they gave him, it's better to stay at Benfica. "When family is involved, if you have to move to a place where they are going to pay you the same, it's not worth it." The news could alert other clubs to Simao's availability, with Liverpool and Chelsea long-term admirers of the winger. |

Mista not given chance to shine?Bah...how many chance you want to give him until he prove himself. To me he's average player, not up to Valencia standard. We get 5m for unwanted player,i say its a good deal.
As for Aimar,he's a talented player. No doubt about that. But his form throughout the season is not consistent. In some match he's world class,& in other he's just average. He does not fullfill his true potential at Valencia. He's also injury prone. All the best to him.Hope he shines at Zaragoza, just like riquelme at Villarreal. |

I think you misunderstood what i said.I never said Valencia has the best youth system. Those 4 are the brightest prospect for Spain in the future.Yes i said brightest talent for Spain, not in Spain. No doubt about it.They are proven. They play first team football in la liga.
Heck.... you cannot compare Valencia & Barca. Valencia has 3 province. Valencia CF is the club for the city of Valencia.Summore, the city is divided between UD Levante & VCF.In the southern province of Alicante, they have Alicante & Hercules(both big clubs in term of the numbers of supporters.Used to play in Primera in the 90's).In the northern province of Castellon the have Villarreal & Castellon. Those Club's supporter are born as ANTI-VCF. But Barca is the club for The whole region of Catalunya. They have support from the 4 province that make Catalunya. If every kid from Catalunya go to Barca,of course they have all the best kids. |

Valencia still hoping to sign Benfica's Simao
www.soccernet.com QUOTE MADRID, July 31 (Reuters) - Valencia are still hopeful of signing Benfica's Portuguese international Simao Sabrosa, despite failing to clinch a deal when the player visited the Mestalla on the weekend. Spanish media had reported that relations between the two clubs were broken when the player arrived to sign a contract with the Primera Liga side on Saturday, only to fly home the next day after failing to reach an agreement. 'In reaction to reports published recently Valencia continue to maintain good relations with Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira and the player's representative,' Valencia said on their Web site on Monday. 'The club are continuing in their efforts to sign the player.' The 26-year-old winger, who has won 50 caps for Portugal, has been at Benfica since 2001. Before that he had an unsuccessful two-year spell with Barcelona. Aimar flattered Zaragoza came looking for him www.soccernet.com QUOTE MADRID, July 31 (Reuters) - Argentina midfielder Pablo Aimar has said he was flattered by the interest shown by Real Zaragoza in coming to sign him from Valencia. 'I joined Zaragoza because the coach (Victor Fernandez) called me, and because they came looking for me which is not normal in the world of football where the players usually offer themselves,' Aimar told a news conference on Monday. Zaragoza are reported to have paid around 11 million euros ($14 million) for the 26-year-old, who signed a four-year contract on Saturday. In announcing the deal the club described Aimar's arrival as the most important signing in their history. Aimar said: 'Although it is a smaller club than Valencia, in a few years hopefully you will be able to say there aren't many clubs bigger than Zaragoza.' Aimar, who has won 43 caps with Argentina, joined Valencia from River Plate in 2001 for $20 million. He went on to win two Primera Liga titles and the UEFA Cup in 2004 with Valencia, but was considered surplus to requirements for next season by coach Quique Sanchez Flores. Zaragoza's new coach has already bought in Argentine midfielder Andres D'Alessandro on loan from Wolfsburg, and defenders Sergio Fernandez and Juanfran. They finished 11th in the league last season and lost to Espanyol in the final of the King's Cup. |

Let Me Go, Demands Ayala
Argentine international Roberto Ayala has told Valencia that he wants to leave the club as soon as possible. QUOTE Ayala is contracted to Los Ches until June 2007, but in recent months there have been persistent rumours that he'd like a transfer. And following reports of angry showdown with club president Juan Soler, he has now demanded a move. The defender claims that Soler has reneged on an earlier verbal agreement about a contract extension, and is now offering him a less attractive deal. "We had talked about the money conditions in May, but now the offer is inferior," said Ayala. "This is absolutely disrespectful to me and the best solution is for me to leave." Primera Liga rivals Villarreal have already approached Valencia with an offer of euro3 million (£2.1 million), which was rejected as too low. However, while the Yellow Submarines may up their bid, Ayala may prefer to join a club that will be playing in next season's Champions League. Goal.com |

Di Vaio joins Monaco on two-year deal
QUOTE MONACO, Aug 2 (Reuters) - Italian striker Marco Di Vaio has joined Monaco from Valencia on a two-year deal, the Ligue 1 club announced on Wednesday. The 30-year-old was loaned to the principality club by the Liga side last January. The former Juventus forward, who was omitted from the Italian World Cup winning squad, has scored five goals from 15 appearances in Ligue 1. |

VALENCIA IN RONALDO BID
QUOTE Valencia have reportedly offered £17m plus veteran defender Roberto Ayala for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Manchester Evening News say that the Spanish club have launched the 'cheeky bid' but Man United are unlikely to be swayed by the offer of a 33-year-old centre-half as a makeweight in the deal. Ronaldo has made no secret of his desire to leave the club after being villified for his part in Wayne Rooney's sending-off during this summer's World Cup. Real Madrid have been strongly linked with a move for Ronaldo, but there have been no firm offers from the Spanish giants. AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has meanwhile ruled out a move for the Portuguese star, saying: "Cristiano Ronaldo? He's a guy with good qualities. But he's a winger and so he can't play at Milan. We would have to change our game." |

A poster at another VCF forum explained why Ayala is eager to leave:
QUOTE Ayala's current contract expires next summer. Before World Cup 2006 he asked for a two year new contract, euro1.5M/year after taxes. Carboni stated he was an old player and offered euro0.75M/year. Then Mascardi insulted our club saying our president has earned some millions for himself in the form of bribes for the new training facilities the club is going to build. After the World Cup Carboni raised the renewal offer to the euro1.5M Ayala asked for, but Mascardi wanted an extra euro1M for himself, as the player's agent. Carboni said it was a contract extension not a new signing and Valencia wasn't going to pay that amount of money for Ayala to play two more years instead of one. Villarreal quickly moved and offered the player euro2M/year for 2 years and another euro2M for Mascardi if they forced Valencia to sell him for euro2M (guess them bastards like that number). Now Ayala wants to go to Villarreal because he'd get more money, his agent would get more money, and he would be able to remain living in Valencia, as his new club would be close enough to drive there everyday. He's even insulted the club claiming Valencia has evilly prevented him from being a world class star when we didn't accept Barça and Real Madrid offers. I remember he was so angry, even feigned an injury and refused to play for two months when we didn't accept the offering from Real Madrid, though he was pleased enough when we extended his contract and raised his salary after that. Some people also say Valencia pay him via one of Mascardi's ghost companies placed is some exotic tax haven so he can avoid taxes and get more money, and that he can't sign a renewal or a new contract without his agent's aproval or he'd be forced to pay him euro1M, so if Mascardi doesn't get his lion's share he's not signing anything at all. I hope we'll get Ronaldo.FYI our sponsors(Toyota,Llanera & Nike) will pay the tranfer fees.So the fees wont be a prob for us.The problem now is wether Man U going to accept it or not. |

Sporting deal for Caneira
www.skysports.com QUOTE Sporting Lisbon have unveiled defender Marco Caneira on an amazing five-year loan deal from Valencia. The Portugal international spent the tail end of last season on loan at Sporting and had been keen to secure a permanent move to Lisbon. He has been awarded the next best thing, with Valencia agreeing to loan him out on the condition that they can recall him at the end of each season should they so choose. Caneira is happy with the deal and is looking forward to an exciting season, both domestically and in Europe. "I am pleased because at Sporting I have more opportunities to play, which is the most important thing," he explained. "And also in this campaign is the attractive prospect of playing in the UEFA Champions League." 5 year loan deal... |

Che close on Simao
QUOTE Valencia have ended their interest in Cristiano Ronaldo as they look to finalise a move for his Portuguese team-mate Simao Sabrosa. Benfica star Simao has been locked in talks with Valencia for the last week as Los Che look to tie up his signature. At one stage last week the move seemed to have hit the buffers, but talks over the weekend have seen the deal rekindled. Now Valencia are confident he will soon be on board. "On Monday we will talk again," Valencia's sporting director Amedeo Carboni explained. "I believe that something could happen this week." Carboni was quick to deny a move for Ronaldo was now even being considered by Valencia - who had previously admitted an interest in securing a deal for the Manchester United ace. "It is a subject that I have not spoke of, nor will I. Firstly because he is a boy with a contract and secondly his club is one of means. "He is a player that pleases everyone, not only Valencia." |

Big boost for Valencia
QUOTE Valencia new boy Fernando Morientes is confident ahead of his UEFA Champions League return against Salzburg on Wednesday. The former Real Madrid man made his name in the tournament, while at Monaco, but left Liverpool this summer after failing to shine in his year and a half in England. But the 30-year-old should now line-up for his new club in their vital first leg qualifier against the Austrians this week and he is in a cautiously buoyant mood ahead of the tie. "The atmosphere in the squad is fully focused and there is no complacency," Morientes enthused. "The team are prepared perfectly for this round. For us this is a final. "The fans are with us and the atmosphere will be magnificent. In the first match a goal is key for us. "We are not over-confident because Salzburg have dangerous players both on the field and on the bench." Meanwhile, the Estadio Mestalla outfit should be boosted by the news that prize Italian defender Emiliano Moretti looks set to extend his deal at the club. Moretti is contracted to the Liga giants for another two seasons, but now looks set to commit his future in Spain until June 2011. "All is closed and I am waiting for the signature to become a reality this week," the player's agent Federico Pastorello confirmed. "This was not an easy subject, but finally Valencia has valued the player correctly and we are all happy." The 25-year-old has had a euro30 million buy-out clause instituted into his new contract, and he seems more than happy with the deal. "Now I am happy living in Spain and I am hugely motivated for this season, with the opportunity to play in the Champions League," Moretti explained. |

Che move for Andrade
QUOTE Valencia are chasing Portuguese central defender Jorge Andrade from Deportivo La Coruna, as a replacement for Roberto Ayala. Negotiations are already underway between the clubs, but the Galicians are said to be holding out for euro15 million for the player. Andrade missed the end of last term and this summer's World Cup because of a knee injury, but says he is fully focused on his own recovery rather than the speculation surrounding his services. "Personally, I do not know anything about Valencia," Andrade admitted. "It is a subject for Deportivo and my own preoccupation is to continue my total recovery and to play soon." The Estadio Riazor outfit have also completed part of their prolonged negotiations with Racing Santander. Goalkeeper Dudu Awat has now signed a four-year deal at La Coruna, while forward Pedro Alvarez Munitis has moved the other way and committed to Santander for five seasons. The Estadio El Sardinero team have also taken Depor striker Ruben Castro and midfielder Momo on loan for the season. Argentinian full back Lionel Scaloni remains the only piece of unfinished business for the Liga giants, and they are believed to have demanded euro1 million for the Albicelestes defender. |

Che expect Ayala stay
QUOTE Valencia have said that they expect Roberto Ayala to stay at the club for another season unless they receive a suitable offer for the Argentina international. Speculation has been rife that the veteran defender will leave Mestalla this summer, with a number of Premiership sides being linked with him. After announcing his intention to quit the club, Ayala left for a short holiday in Argentina to see his family, but stayed two days longer than he was given permission for by Valencia. Despite the rumours, Los Che president Juan Bautista Soler, is not concerned and has dismissed all the speculation. "The comical story about Ayala missing two days of training is not important," he said. "This kind of thing often happens on long trips. "This thing with Ayala is not a hot potato. He is a Valencia player until June 30 (2007) and just as the club honours contracts, we expect that the players also fulfil them. "He will only be leaving if we receive an offer that satisfies everyone." Valencia are also making headlines for their protracted bid to sign Simao Sabrosa from Benfica. The Portuguese club have stated that the latest offer that they have received is ridiculous, but that position has mystified Soler who believes that he had already agreed a fee. "I do not agree with everything that has been said by those in Portugal," he explained. "We have made a huge offer and the president of Benfica (Luis Felipe Vieira) accepted it in the presidential box at Mestalla." |

Ayala makes Che threat
www.skysports.com QUOTE Roberto Ayala is threatening to refuse to play for Valencia unless the club grant him his wish to leave the Mestalla outfit. Liga rivals Villarreal have bid for the Argentine's services, but their offer has been shunned by Valencia. Valencia have stated the experienced defender can only leave for the right price, however Ayala is in no mood to wait patiently in the wings. Ayala, who has already missed two days of training is threatening not to play for the club unless they allow him to leave. "For us, the situation is clear," explained Ayala's agent Gustavo Mascardi to Radio Nou. "Valencia have to allow Ayala to leave, or else he'll simply see out the last year of his contract without playing. "I'm going to meet with Valencia's directors, because I do not understand their motives for rejecting Villarreal's offer. "Ayala's desire is to go to Villarreal." Ayala is not ruling out a switch to The Premiership, although his agent has stated his client will only join a prestigious club for the right deal. "That question depends on the club and the money," Mascardi concluded on whether Ayala could be headed for England. |

Espanyol: Garcia not for sale
www.skysports.com QUOTE Espanyol have announced that Valencia can forget about signing Luis Garcia after the reported interest began to unsettle the player. The Parakeets are furious that the rumours will not go away and are adamant that the striker is not for sale. Sporting director Paco Herrera has insisted the club will not to buckle under pressure from Valencia, after the 2004 Uefa Cup winners reportedly asked Espanyol to name their price. "I am no longer listening to them. Luis Garcia is not for sale," he stressed. "If they really want to buy him they know that his buy-out clause is euro30 million (£20 million) and unless we receive an offer for that then he is not leaving. "They have to stop doing this because the longer it goes on the more unsettled the player becomes and that is why it has to end now." Espanyol coach Ernesto Valverde is also hopeful that Garcia will stay. "He is a player we are counting on," he explained. "It is now August and there is not much time before the season starts. A change like this would be very hard and the less I speak about this the better. "Luis is a professional and I think he is focused. We all know how this works and I am going to keep playing him during pre-season." |

Valencia open disciplinary action against Ayala
www.soccernet.com QUOTE MADRID, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Valencia said they had opened disciplinary proceedings on Sunday against Argentine international centre back Roberto Ayala for his criticisms of the club last week. Ayala railed against club president Juan Bautista Soler and sporting director Amedeo Carboni for failing to honour a promised contract extension and accused the two men of having cheated him. 'I wanted to stay here until the end of my career but that dream had now disappeared because certain people did not keep their word,' Ayala told a news conference on Friday. 'It hurts that I have been cheated by a club for which I have given everything. 'I was forced to take this decision and I have told both the coach and president that I want to leave.' Valencia responded by accusing the 33-year-old of being more interested in money than playing for the club. 'I profoundly lament these comments that have come at a most inopportune moment,' Carboni told the club's Web site. 'At the same time the comments have opened our eyes and strengthened our desire to count on players who are truly committed to the club and less interested in cheques.' Ayala, who joined Valencia from AC Milan in 2000, is under contract with the club until the end of the season. Regional rivals Villarreal are interested in signing the former Argentina captain, but Valencia have said they will not negotiate over the player. Ayala sat in the stands as his side beat AS Roma 2-0 in a pre-season friendly at the Mestalla on Saturday. This post has been edited by nck_ck: Aug 13 2006, 09:54 PM |

Che enter Martins chase
www.skysports.com QUOTE Valencia are ready to rival Newcastle for the signature of Internazionale striker Obafemi Martins. The lightning-quick Nigerian would appear to be surplus to requirements at the Giuseppe Meazza and he has attracted admiring glances from Newcastle. Magpies chief Glenn Roeder is determined to bring in fresh striking options this week, but he could face stiff competition from Valencia. Reports in Spain claim Valencia have offered euro12 million for Martins and have placed a six-year contract on the table. Che coach Quique Sanchez Flores is eager to finalise his squad strengthening and said: "We need to strengthen the team, especially in attack." Martins is looking to leave Inter following the arrivals of Hernan Crespo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and he could well have offers to mull over in the coming days. |

Tavano sold to Valencia
Empoli hitman Francesco Tavano has officially completed his move to Spanish giants Valencia, announced the club. Tavano hit the headlines this season with 19 Serie A goals, making a large contribution to their safety from relegation. He had been linked with Juventus, Fiorentina, Milan and Inter - his favoured option, being a self-avowed life-long Nerazzurri supporter. However, the Italian sides chose different avenues and so he has been sold to La Liga contenders Valencia. More... =================================================== what a surprise Valencia would still go for an Italian striker after the disaster of Corradi n Di Vaio. |

Ruguiero's a surplus to our team.We already have Silva & Gavilan.Although Silva's a midfielder, he originally plays as Left winger. We dont need 4 left winger in our team.
Silva & Gavilan are our greatest treasure.2 month ago there's been a report that Arsenal are interested in Gavilan & Spurs wants Silva.Lucky for us that both of them extend their contract. |

Valencia midfielder Baraja out for 10 weeks
www.soccernet.com QUOTE MADRID, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Valencia's Spanish international midfielder Ruben Baraja will be out of action for around two and a half months after tearing a muscle in his right leg on Monday. The Primera Liga side said that the 31-year-old had felt a sharp pain in the rear part of his leg during training and that subsequent tests revealed that he had torn the muscle. Valencia will attempt to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit against Austrian side Salzburg in the Champions League third qualifying round on Tuesday. They will also be without new signing Asier del Horno, who is recovering from a similar injury to that sustained by Baraja, and centre-back Roberto Ayala who is embroiled in a contract dispute with the club. |

Hahaha...Abangpedro, i already posted the news la...
anyways, more news here, well, actually not news, just a long transfer rumor finally ended. Simao to stay at Benfica www.skysports.com QUOTE Simao has agreed to stay with Benfica until January after talks regarding a move to Valencia broke down. The Portuguese winger was widely tipped to leave Benfica this summer, with Spanish side Valencia having been trying to arrange a deal. Premiership duo Arsenal and Portsmouth were also linked with the exciting attacker, but he has pledged his immediate future to Benfica. He is expected to confirm his intentions at a press conference on Monday, but Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira announced the news. "The Simao novel is finished," stated Vieira. "He is a Benfica player." Another player to be staying at Estadio da Luz is goalkeeper Quim, who was a target for Primera Liga outfit Levante. Quim rejected a move to the Valencia-based side and revealed he is happy to stay a Benfica player. He said: "I am happy and calm in Benfica and my objective is to fight to be the number one." |

Valencia 3-0 SV Salzburg
QUOTE VALENCIA, Spain, Aug 22 (Reuters) - First-half goals from Fernando Morientes and David Villa and an injury-time strike from David Silva gave Valencia a 3-0 win over Salzburg that put them into the Champions League group stage 3-1 on aggregate. Valencia, losing finalists in the competition in 2000 and 2001, wiped out their 1-0 deficit from the first leg of the third qualifying round tie when Morientes put them ahead in the 13th minute. The former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker steered into the empty net when keeper Timo Ochs turned a Villa shot into his path after the Spain striker had raced past the Salzburg back four. The Primera Liga side took the aggregate lead 20 minutes later after Ezequiel Carboni had conceded a penalty for handling in the area when he came under pressure from Villa. Ochs managed to turn Villa's spot kick on to the post, but the striker was on hand to smash the ball high into the net as it spun back into his path. With Salzburg needing one goal to turn the tie, Valencia could never relax but they wrapped up an emphatic win when Silva curled a shot round Ochs and into the far corner from the right side of the area with the final kick of the game. |

Che to seal Joaquin capture
www.skysports.com QUOTE Reports in Spain claim that Valencia have finally concluded a deal for Real Betis winger Joaquin. The Spain international has been outspoken in his desire to leave Betis this summer having spent his entire career with Los Verdiblancos after coming through the youth ranks. Previously a target for Manchester United and Chelsea, the 25-year-old has attracted interest from the likes of Lyon and Internazionale this summer, but it would seem Valencia have now won the race for his signature. The player himself made it clear he favoured a switch to the Mestalla and he appears to have got his wish. The Che have agreed to pay euro24 million (£16 million) for his services and will not be including Uruguayan Mario Regueiro as part of the deal. The transfer will bring an end to Valencia's search for a right winger with the club having pursued Benfica's Simao Sabrosa for most of the summer. Joaquin is reported to have said his goodbyes to his Betis team-mates on Thursday morning and Valencia plan to officially present him on Friday. |

VALENCIA SNAP UP JOAQUIN
www.football365.com QUOTE Valencia have signed Spain winger Joaquin from Real Betis for a fee in the region of 24million euros (£16.2million). Joaquin is set to undergo at medical at the Estadio Mestalla before joining up with fellow summer acquisitions Asier del Horno and Fernando Morientes. The 25-year-old made 219 league appearances for Betis and scored 32 goals after breaking into the first team at the Manuel Ruiz de Lopera stadium in 2000. Joaquin can look forward to Champions League football with Valencia, who booked their place in the group stage after a win over FC Salzburg in the third qualifying round. Valencia have been drawn in Group D alongside Roma, Olympiacos and Shakhtar Donetsk. Woohoo!!! We finally got our man...now we REALLY have the best wingers in Spain |

Kluivert's Che career looks over
www.skysports.com QUOTE Patrick Kluivert's future looks to be away from Valencia after he was thrown out of training following lengthy discussions with coach Quique Sanchez Flores. The former Newcastle United striker has already been told that he was free to find a new club after just one season in Spain, but the latest incident could hasten his departure. Kluivert had been training alone in a bid to regain his fitness but hoped to rejoin the rest of the Valencia squad for training on Thursday morning. However, after a ten minute warm-up, the Dutchman was pulled aside by Sanchez Flores before being told to return to the changing rooms and go home. Kluivert was far from impressed and stormed past reporters before leaving in his car in what looks like being one of his final actions as a Valencia player. Celtic and Hamburg had previously been linked with a move for Kluivert, although both clubs may now be out of the running for the powerful striker. The Bundesliga club consider him to be too big a risk, while Gordon Strachan has now signed fellow Dutch striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink from PSV Eindhoven. |

VALENCIA START WITH A WIN
www.football365.com QUOTE Valencia kicked off the new Primera Liga season with a 2-1 victory over Real Betis at the Mestalla on Saturday night. During a rather slow paced placed first-half, the game suddenly burst into life when Fernando Morientes smashed home a powerful drive on 33 minutes after a clever pass from Edu found the Valencia striker just inside the area. Los Ches continued to dominate the closing stages of the opening period but were unable to extend their advantage. Valencia adopted a relaxed approach after the break but this would come back to haunt them, for nine minutes at least, when Betis stunned them with an equaliser from absolutely nothing. On 53 minutes a cross from Enrique Romero way out on the left found Munoz Xisco in space and his perfectly placed header found the top corner of the net to silence the home crowd. Parity did not last long and when a poorly delivered corner from Valencia was only partially cleared, the ball fell for Raul Albiol who firmly struck his half-volley into the corner of the net. After that Valencia significantly grew in confidence and poured forward at every opportunity looking for a third, but some fantastic saves from Toni Doblas - most notably from a second-half David Villa strike - kept them at bay. As the game neared it's conclusion, Betis pushed for another equaliser but they couldn't create any noteworthy chances as Valencia held out for a well deserved three points. Yea...we started the season with a tough victory....and Morientes is scoring goals again... This post has been edited by nck_ck: Aug 27 2006, 12:37 PM |

Woah, finally...the deal with Joaquin is DONE!!!
Joaquin completes euro25m move to Valencia www.soccernet.com QUOTE MADRID, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Spain winger Joaquin completed a convoluted 25-million euro ($32 million) move from Real Betis to Valencia on Monday. Valencia announced on their Web site that the two clubs had reached an agreement which would see the 25-year-old winger play for the Mediterranean side for the next six years. The Primera Liga side said the player, who underwent a medical on Sunday, would be presented to the media at 1700 GMT. The deal had been expected to go through last week but Betis's majority shareholder Manuel Ruiz de Lopera delayed it until he received the necessary payment guarantees and his side had played their opening league match against Valencia. Although neither team revealed the terms of the deal, Spanish media reported that Valencia had paid a club-record fee of around 25 million euros for the Spain international. The deal makes Joaquin the second most expensive signing of the close season in Spain behind Mali midfielder Mahamadou Diarra who joined Real Madrid for an estimated 26 million euros last week. It brings Valencia's spending since the end of last season to in excess of 45 million euros. They have also brought in strikers Fernando Morientes and Francesco Tavano and left back Asier del Horno. Joaquin, who has won 42 caps for Spain and was part of the squad for the World Cup, graduated to the Betis first team from the reserves in 2000 when the club was in the second division and has been a favourite with the fans ever since. He played a key role in helping the Andalucians to victory in the King's Cup in 2005 and in qualification for last season's Champions League. The winger made a tearful farewell to the club's supporters at a news conference in Seville earlier on Monday. "I would like to thank the fans because I owe them everything," he said. "I have had six years here and I have had some fantastic experiences that I never expected to have. I have felt like an idol, a star and you feel that very deeply. "If any Betis fans feel hurt by my departure I would like to apologise, but I felt that my cycle at the club had finished and like any employee I wanted to look for something new. It was an honour that a club like Valencia wanted to sign me." Valencia have qualified for the group phase of the Champions League where they have been drawn against AS Roma, Olympiakos and Shakhtar Donetsk in Group D. |

Kluivert in talks with PSV
www.skysports.com QUOTE Patrick Kluivert is in talks with PSV Eindhoven about a return to his homeland as the Dutch outfit step-up their search for Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink's replacement. With Vennegoor of Hesselink having moved to Scottish champions Celtic, PSV are eager to bring in an established name ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline. Kluivert has been told he can leave Valencia on a free transfer after failing to ever find his best form at the Mestalla since moving to Spain from Newcastle. While Kluivert's signature would be seen as somewhat of a coup, PSV chairman Rob Westerhof admits he still holds serious concerns about signing the oft-injured striker. "The Patrick Kluivert of eight or ten years ago, is different than the Patrick Kluivert of today," Westerhof told De Telegraaf. "He hasn't played for two years. Considering his injuries he has got a high risk profile." Kluivert's agent Paul Foortse admits talks are on-going, but he is also keen to emphasise that a deal is still some way from being struck. "For the transfer to be complete, there will still have to come a solution," he concluded. Meanwhile, Westerhof has confirmed that he will resign from his role at the club in October after conceding the chairmanship took up too much of his time. Westerhof assumed the reins two years' ago from the popular Harry van Raaij, and has in his time at the helm overseen a successful spell in the club's history. In the interim period before appointing a permanent successor, Frits Schuitema will act as chairman in a caretaker capacity. Yes yes...please let the deal go through...we don't wanna waste our wages on him anymore... |

We didn't manage to sign Simao...couldn't reach an agreement at all. Which was why we went for Joaquin instead.
This is off-topic, but can somebody please explain to me how come Athletico Madrid suddenly have loads of $$$ to splash around on players??? So far they've already spent 50 million euros on signing players... This post has been edited by nck_ck: Aug 31 2006, 12:40 AM |

Real move for Ayala
www.skysports.com QUOTE Real Madrid have entered the race to sign unsettled Valencia defender Roberto Ayala. Ayala is currently in a dispute with Valencia over his future and he has not figured for them this season. The Argentine international is keen to leave La Mestalla, but Valencia insist they will only sell the talented defender if the deal is right for them. Valencia blocked a move to Villarreal earlier this month, while a number of Premiership clubs have also been linked with Ayala. Real could now be ready to offer Ayala a route out of La Mestalla as they search for a new central defender. Fabio Capello is believed to have enquired about Roma's Cristian Chivu and Juventus' Jonathan Zebina, but without much success. Real officials are expected to meet with Ayala's agent on Wednesday, but the Argentine's representative Gustavo Mascardi is not hopeful of a deal. "If Valencia won't allow him to join Villarreal, I doubt very much whether they'll allow him to join Real Madrid," Mascardi told Marca. |

Torino clinch double signing
QUOTE Serie A newcomers Torino have clinched deals with midfielder Stefano Fiore and striker Masashi Oguro. Fiore (pictured) has secured a season-long loan from Valencia, while Japanese star Oguro joins on a permanent basis from French side Grenoble. Fiore has become surplus to requirements at the Estadio Mestalla in recent times and spent last season on loan at Fiorentina. Valencia are not prepared to cut their ties with him entirely though, and have agreed to take Fiore back from Torino next summer. Oguro has signed an initial two-year deal and will join up with his new team-mates in the next few days. He has earned 21 international caps and has also impressed for Grenoble since moving to Europe in January. Torino president Urbabo Cairo has ambitious plans for his club and will be delighted to have bolstered his squad with two last-minute signings. Seems Fiore back in Italy..... |
