Hi, any1 have visited any camera shop arnd komtar area lately?? I m planning to get it whn i get bck to penang sometime arnd July later. May i knw the pricing for D90 kitlens now? do u thk it's possible to drop til rm3000 by aug? penang gt stock or not now?

nikon 18-200 is pretty decent....except for zoom creeps and distortion. i assume that u wont be going FX anytime soon right? skip 70-300 and go for the 55-200.
not worth paying 1.6k for a sigma 18-200 IMHO! i might as well get a used nikon 18200
yes,nikon comes with nano coating.
i once tot of getting a 24-70 too but then i realized that mid range lenses are kinda useles (for me ) hehe....
a prime and a UWA is more than enough

A good superzoom would be the Nikon 18-200VR2 and probably a Tamron 18-270VC...the nikon costs around 2.5k and the tamron costs a bit above 2k i think..

Zoom creep means when you point your lens downwards the lens will zoom in itself bcuz of the weight. or when it's zoomed in already (200mm), it will zoom out when you point it upwards. You can get 70-300 VR with DX also, it's not wrong, just that it's super big and heavy and more expensive (but more range and FF compatible)

Nikon 18-200 is better than tammy..

@cwz90 , at 200mm , the image will become very soft imo , not very sharp . tried before with nikkor 18-200 ,

not say d quality is bad, is at longer focal length it produces softer images than ad d wide end

Well if me, I would get a 18-55 and 55-200 both VR. if you already have the 18-105mm, maybe 70-300 will be a better choice if budget is ok. But 70-300 is not as wide as 55, depends on your preference.

there's no perfect lens, you want sharpness, get 2 lenses; you wan convenience, get 18-200. If you have the money, use 18-105, then 70-200mm 2.8 VR II ^^ or primes with 85mm/105mm/200mm but they are Lich men's toys.

Okay Cwz90, I hope that you are not confused.

To better answer your question I need to know

1. What lenses do you own right now?
2. What lenses do you want? A tele or wide?
3. What will you be using it for? Holiday, family, portraits etc?
4. Lastly, what is your budget?

Answer all of that and I'll be more than happy to give you suggestions on suitable lenses.

From what I can see, it would seem that 2 lens would match your need.

1. If you want a portable lens for everything. My answer to that is the Nikon 18-200 VRii. PERIOD. There's no need to change lenses and IQ is nice. It is sharp enough. Some say it's not good etc2 (for pixel peepers) ..For an ALL ROUNDER lens, the 18200 is suberb. Tamron's 18270VC IQ is roughly the same but it focuses slower than the nikon in low light. The thing is you may want to sell the 18105VR.

2. The 18105VR is very good, so if you decide to keep it, I would suggest a wide angle lens too add to your lenses. Either Tokina 11-16 f/2.8, Tokina 12-24 f/4 or Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6 or Sigma 10-20 f/3.5. All of these ultrawides are within your budget except the sigma 1020 f/3.5 which is a bit more expensive.

So the conclusion :

Get rid of the 18105VR and buy an 18200VRii

Keep the 18105VR and get an ultrawide
