News from HSDM is that Elantra most probably won't be launched until after Q2 of 2012. All rumours we all have heard were just smoke screen meant to confused us all.
Those who still decide to wait good luck to you all. I'm going for Kia Forte or Honda Insight Jan next year, while car loan interest still at reasonably low level :-)

I'd like to quote a certain sales manager of HSD whom I met at a roadshow earlier this year. He told me, "Don't buy Kia la, Naza no good. Hyundai is by Sime Darby you know, sure better la"...
*
I agree with him that Naza is not good. But Sime Darby is worse than not good.

I've been waiting almost 8 months since my last trip to US to test drive the car.  sad.gif
Last weekend, went to QB mall in PG and the salesman told me that it will not be CBU for 1st batch sad.gif and most likely sound like semi CKD. Not sure how true it's. Asked for launch date and replied end of december and can only get the car on feb/march. He mentioned also if 1.8 comes with sunroof then will be > 100k. Reason for delay??? He said short of car distribution due to high demand in worldwide.

My heart getting less excitement due to delay. By the time we get the car, some new cars are coming soon like new civic, VW CKD and etc... to be considered...
*
Book your car early Jan 2012 and get your car end June 2012 smile.gif

MSN Autos Rates The Hyundai Elantra As 1 Of The 10 Most Beautiful Cars!

Audi, Aston Martin, Maserati.....Hyundai Elantra???? That's right! MSN Autos named the Hyundai Elantra as one of the overall 10 Most Beautiful Cars in the market today!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hyundai Elantra Limited Red - Gartner Hyundai
PRLog (Press Release) - Jul 29, 2011 -
Yes, you read right. The 2012 Hyundai Elantra is hanging out with the likes of Aston Martin, Audi, Ferrari, Jaguar and Maserati. MSN Autos recently named the Hyundai Elantra (along with the others that were just mentioned) one of the 10 Most Beautiful Cars currently in the market.

MSN Autos states, "If cars were living beings, the newest Hyundai Elantra might feel out of place amid rare and expensive European sports cars. But just look at it: There simply is not a line or curve wrong with this new Korean compact sedan. Say what you will, we think this bright, new design truly belongs here."

The Elantra styling praises don't stop with MSN either. Ann Job, a writer for the Associated Press exclaims, "The attractive Elantra sedan is arguably the best-looking smallish sedan in the country." She even complimented the Elantra's interior by stating, "There's nothing gimmicky about the guages or controls, and the overall sense, for anyone who remembers earlier Elantras, is that the Elantra has moved upscale in a big way.

And to sum things up, MSN Autos said it best.

"What makes a car beautiful? Is it flowing lines, pleasing proportions, a clear identity, a strong sense of character, exquisite details -- or a mixture of all of the above? True, assessment of beauty ultimately remains in the eye of the beholder, yet its truest manifestations always seem to elicit unanimous praise and approval. We (MSN Autos) have looked far and wide to choose the most beautiful production cars of the last few years, and agonized over a list of 10 standouts. The fact that most are European will not come as a great surprise, but the inclusion of a compact sedan from South Korea should raise a few eyebrows."

How much will be the booking fees? If the car didn't deliver on promised date can cancel booking and get refund?

No official pricing yet, but you guys can book it first. If the pricing isn't satisfactory my company will refund your full deposit. I tried my best to squeeze the price out of the trainer but it is not his call to say anything.

How about group booking? How to do that?
Another issue is how long would the waiting period be after launch date of mid Jan?

1.8 prem spec selling at price near RM110k is really an "amazing" price for this car considering high risk of "bought overprice, sold underprice". As we can see the new Sonata is still a "cold" car until today compared to Camry and Accord. So I really feel sceptical if this Elantra can break Altis and Civic domination in Malaysia with this price. This year Vios sell double that of City and City sell double that of Forte. That’s why Forte resale value now is the worst among the three :-)

Car price is the main concern, since now is still unclear

I believe launching price will depend on how many people pre-book the car also. HSDM will use this 2 months period to test water.

jazz priced almost like civic, same goes to yaris n altis, well... they still sell....

In Malaysia Forte sales are well behind City and Vios sales for the year 2011. I thought it could at least beat City when it was first launched rolleyes.gif

Just want to ask everyone. What is the reasonable price do you guys expect for 1.6cc High Specs and 1.8cc Premium?
*
1.6 LOW SPEC - 83k to 85k
1.6 HIGH SPEC - 87k to 90k
1.8 PREM - 101k to 104k

Hopefully, 1.6 High Spec around 95-99k, or else i could see myself choosing a Kia brand!

for 1.8 Premium most probably cheaper than same engine range "Altis n Civic" by few Ks, 112k!

Bro Fluidic, do u have any leak of the price? So gan jiong ady drool.gif ~~

Please SD don spoilt my dream shakehead.gif ~ be affordable

Your mood is not SD concern at all...they don't even bother about their car sales and profit from there. They just gonna sell the dealership right to others and make good profit from there when Hyundai brand really developed globally in near future.

Forte got issues? i thought its a so far so good car? just some minor rattling sound on the seats and door panel that can be easily fixed. Even toyota and honda will have those problems. There are sure to be a few "unlucky" ones.
*
Forte's lamp, third brake light....malfunction, water condensation. And if you do notice the previous batch of Korean made car the lamp turns yellowish even faster than Proton made car. Even the new Sonata got problem…most notably is that some of the car wandering to left or right and it is not alignment but steering wheel problem.

That’s why Forte and Sonata sales are sluggish compared to T&H in Malaysia…coz they are not cheap considering there are still question mark over their quality. sweat.gif

Wandering to the left is a very common issue found in continental cars.

its not an issue at all. ask any bmw or merc or peugeot owner.
*
I agree with you but certain cars tend to wander too much until it cause annoyance to the driver.

Speaking as a Forte 2.0 SX 6-sp owner:

1. Start button issue. This is quite rare. There are two Fortes in my family and none has suffered this fate.
2. This one is also non existent on both our cars. Dashboard quiet as the first day we bought them. Maybe intermittently there are some noises, but that's because the rest of the car is so damn quiet smile.gif
3. No issues with the rear view cam.
4. Pulling to the left while accelerating? Hmmm, I've only encountered pulling while cruising. Solved at the tyre shop already.
5. I fold my mirrors daily. So far so good.

Btw, these are minor issues. If you lurk around other makes' car forums you will soon realize that some brands have even bigger problems like gearbox, battery premature failure, gasket leaking oil, brakes etc. Those are major problems. Not those little inconveniences you mentioned. If such little things you mentioned can scare you shitless, then by golly you'll be in for a big surprise! Push start, reverse camera etc are also on the new Elantra. Please realise that by paying a bit more, you're not going to get that much better quality. You're just paying more taxes while SD is earning more or less about the same as Naza, maybe slightly less. And if you've read anything on how SD handles complaints on the i10, maybe you'd think twice. Then again, that was some time ago, I hope they've improved by now.

Every new car has flaws. If it's not a catastrophic failure that renders you unable to drive it or put you in a dangerous position then consider yourself lucky. Not to mention, sometimes in car forums, even the smallest thing can be blown out of proportion and many drivers still think just because they've taken a more than 100k loan for a car they expect miracles.

If you said that you preferred the design and slight technological superiority of the Elantra, then by all means, I won't rebuke you. Just don't buy a car and dislike another for the wrong reasons, that's all.

I hope you're not quoting from a place where the sun don't shine. Have you not seen Harriers, Camrys, Altises etc with super yellowed headlamps also? And who told you that the left pulling issue is a steering wheel issue?

Please stick to your old school mentality. Korean cars are too advanced for you, uncle.
*
Cool down, kid.

The car sales volume and 2nd hand value have say it all. Vios sell double that of City and City sell double that of Forte in 2011. Forte is bigger size, looks nicer (to most people), more accessories, cc also bigger, price almost the same…so are these 35,000 odd car buyers (Vios+City+Forte) so far in 2011 also uncle like me?

Do some study on 2nd hand value of Forte in the market now and you will see the difference.

Cheers smile.gif

As I have said before SD is not interested in selling cars…they only wanted to hold on to the dealership right. smile.gif

almost similar also from my source..but i believe 1.8 should not be 110k, max should be rm105k
*
Forte 2.0(A) and Chev Cruze 1.8(A) selling at around 98k…Elantra 1.8(A) should be around 102k (my guesstimate).

Hmm.. whether elantra should be slightly cheaper right? due to CKD locally, if exceeded 110k for 1.8 then should blame on SD. Even 102k for 1.8 also expensive if compare to Forte & Cruze.
*
Agree with you. Elantra 1.8(A) reasonable price should be in between Cruze 1.8 and Forte 2.0 SX price. In US, Cruze 1.8 (USD16,720-USD23,110), Elantra 1.8 (USD16,445-USD20,445), Forte 2.0 SX (USD15,200-USD19,100). Anything higher is considered overpriced. smile.gif

car assembly by Inokom, is it reliable? My dream to get CBU elantra broken...

If only door and badge assembled by Inokom may still be acceptable...but 100k+ for an Inokom assembled car sounds outrageous.

OMG - I just called one to the SAs in Kah Bintang branch.
Tentative pricing:-
1.8 - RM110k+
1.6 high spec - RM100+ k

That's seriously suicide pricing, most ppl would get a Civic (RM115k). Really dissappointed with SD's pricing strategy.

I was really looking forward to getting this Elantra..I guess not anymore sad.gif

Say it ain't so....
*
Then its price in Malaysia has been blown way out of proportion compared to its relative price in US and Europe. shocking.gif
