Well it was open to visitors yesterday. Maybe they closed it off today cuz of the huge interest in the car. Yesterday we could touch and inspect every component of the car.
*
I was there just now. Initially , no one dare to enter the area coz the model was standing there and everyone busy looking at her and taking photograph. Suddenly one kuai lo go enter the car. After that everyone also follow him and open the door and look at the interior. The driver seat adjuster is using the push button type which looks very high class. The other car i saw with this feature there was the Lexus IS250. Don't know if other same class car has the same.
Agree that the rear passenger leg room is quite spacious.

The Sonata isnt doing well cuz they priced it too close to the Camry. If it had been about 10K cheaper, its sales will improve.
*
I second that. The Sonata is not priced competitively to break into the D segment which is almost monopoly by Accord and Camry.
If they price the 1.8 Avante 10k cheaper than the 1.8 Civic, which one most people here will buy, very obvious is it.

Pricing the Avante cheaper by 10K to a Honda Civic still will not save it from doom. To compete with Toyota and Honda, they would need to price at least about 15-20K cheaper. The Sonata was about 9K cheaper than the Camry but it did not eat into the Camry sales at all. In fact, Toyota started selling more Camry's after the launch of the Sonata thanks to their effective promos.
*
The current Civic 1.8 is 115k and if the 1.8 Avante is price 20k lower it will be 95k which will be just nice. But having said that, the Sonata which is competing against the Accord is less than 10k cheaper in the 2.0l segment which makes me thing that the Avante is very likely to be just above 100k. We can hope only that Sime pricing structure will change by the time they launch Avante next year. laugh.gif

Even 20k cheaper I would think twice. According to Paultan report, the new Avante has only 14.2km/L on the highway. That is very poor efficiency for a new car.
*
I think there is a mistake on the conversion from mpg to kml.
The US Elantra (Avante) claim can achieve 29mpg(city) and 40mpg(highway).

29mpg is 12.33kml or 8.11l/100km (quite good) biggrin.gif

40mpg is 17.01kml or 5.88l/100km (impressive) rclxms.gif

50mpg is 21.26kml or 4.7l/100km (marvellous) drool.gif

For me, now I'm waiting for the electric car, to save our planet and save fuel and money, electric car is the only way! Combustion engine, no matter how, it won't save you much fuel due the power lost inside the engine and also the transmission!
*
Save fuel, yes because electric car use electric only.
Save money, i don't think so because we don't know how much it will be selling here and electricity is not necessarily cheaper than petrol.
Save planet, there are many ways we can do that and not necessarily by using electric car only.

Yes, I agree what you said about the Civic, but how about the Inspira?
*
Inspira is value for money but not many have received the car so far and have to wait if any QC problem surface in the next 1 year or so.
After that if the car is still in good demand, won't be surprised if the price will go up a few thousand and make it less competitve. There is pros and cons of buying the first batch.

Cool auto parking. Watch the second auto park, the computer can only do parallel parking, no side parking.

I agree with ur 1st part.
But on the 2nd part, I still feel Malaysians are a little narrow minded and not very daring risk takers. My parents are exactly like that. I believe if the price difference is only going to be 10k, correct me if i'm wrong, but a lot of Malaysians would much rather fork out that additional 10k to have a Honda or Toyota. Well, but not me. I've already made up my mind i want this 1.6 Avante... unless it's gonna cost like >100k or something la. haha!
*
Many knows that the T&H brands car are overpriced but at the same time the resale value is there. Is like buy high sell high thing and the demand is there. When it comes to value for money, even the proton is picking up now with the new features added to car like the new Inspira, with Mivec Engine and 6speed CVT, autolight, rains sensor, leather seat etc. Sure people can argue about the quality of proton but only time will tell if things has changed from the past. The new facelifted Forte is a good buy IMHO. Paddle shift, Led side mirror and autofold, rear mirror reverse camera, 6 speeds plus the existing engine push start , proximity key, traction control.
Avante is good looking compared to Forte but i think the price will no be cheap. Heard 1..6 GDI engine is unlikely to be brought in. Therefore the 1.8 version very likely is going to be 100k and above.

Just compared the overall dimension of the Elantra against Civic.
According to review, the rear seat leg room in Elantra is class leading. But when comparing the specsheet, seems like not much difference between the two. Elantra 4530 (L) 1775 (W) 1445 (H) 2700 (WB)
Civic 4540 (H) 1775 (W) 1435 (H) 2700 (WB). Wheelbase is the same but somehow the Elantra manage to squeeze out more space for the rear passenger. Elantra is 10mm wider than Civic but lose out the same on height.

The wait is really painful but at least we now know for sure it won't go beyond 29 FEBRUARY 2012. In the mean time we have many other interesting event to keep us entertained. This coming weekend is Christmas and we will have next Monday off. On the 27/12 is the launching of the K5. The price is still anybody guess so this will be the talking point at least for few days after the launch. Most here probably has set their mind on the Elantra but if Naza give us a surpise by pricing K5 at sub 120k, many could be tempted to jump ship. IMHO better than Sonata, and i saw more K5 than Sonata when i was in Seoul last month. After that , it will be New Year and again we have Monday off. New year, new resoulution and time to think of of any bonus or increment at the end of the month, hehe. Then is CNY on the 23 and some could be taking leave until February. And with much hope and luck, the Elantra could be launched in the first week of Feb. So, in conclussion, the wait is not really plain boring and painful if you see it from a different perspective. Who knows bro. Fluid could have got some info before the launch on the final pricing .

I am not defending the govt for imposing tax.

The fact is that when I meet my friends in other country. They still blame their govt or their policy where their current car got no value at all.
Lastly some of them had to scrap their current car and some family own more than 5 cars which also involve cost.

After all there are no country in this world where U can get all win-win situation by owning a car.
*
I don't know how bad is the second hand value ofr used car in those country, but in my opinion if they want to change car every 1-2 years, they need to anticipate a huge loss or otherwise just don't change new car if cannot afford.
If they can buy a good quality car which can last longer at a much cheaper price than here, why they still need to change it after short period. When your car is 7years or older, second hand value is not relevant anymore coz you have bought it cheap in the first place.

2 more days for SDAC, Hyundai Malaysia or Inokom to announce an official launch date?
*
The launching date most probably will be in the last week of January at the earliest. SDAC already say the car will be launched in January or the latest February. The final price will prbably be leaked out only after the CNY.
