Frankly speaking, I will buy Hyundai Elantra even if it cost RM120K or same like Honda Civic because I know it's a better car.

I also not mind about Elantra resale value (still dont know rite?) as more important to me are practicality, comfort and car design. Generally, Many car critic give it a good review & it's one of the best C segment car on the market today.

Anyway, I already book Elantra & ready to wait until mid of next year. Not rushing to get a new car since also own a lancer GT.

FluidicSculpture, thanx a lot for the update. good job.

That's really good news for my pre book Black colour 1.8 Elantra.
Hopefully can mod it much better than LGT in future.

No paddle shift no dual clutch for sure.
It's CVT & can only manually shift with gear knob.

I am not telling that CVT can only shift via gear knob.
My lancer GT also a CVT & can shift with paddle shift.

What I mean Elantra may come with 6speed automatic (manual mode) but can only shift wt gear knob. There wont be any paddle shift.

Just from my humble personal opinion,
probably it will be not dual clutch.
Just normal 6speed auto.

Hopefully, bro Fluidic or any SA can confirm this.

If 1.6 std $90K, 1.6 High Spec $100K, 1.8 $110K, isnt that it still a fair price consider accessories & spec that come wt it.

I dont think any C-segment japanese car can match that price either wt same spec.
Somemore, the good thing is that it will be slightly rare people own that car. Which will make a lot of people turn their head to yr car when U pass by.

Same case, when u own mazda 3 or Lancer GT few yrs ago when there are no CKD or Inspirated product.

Just my 2cents

look at forte price?isnt that a C-Segment car also
*
Yup, true forte is C-segment car also.
But it's not japanese car that what I mean.
Since usually forte price is usually lower than elantra in global market.
We can expect Elantra that will be sold here also higher price than our local forte also.

Forte price start RM78.8K+ for basic to RM115.8K+ for Kuop.
So it still fair to say Elantra price will be slightly higher or in that region too rite.
As long that it wont touch RM120K++ where a lot japanese C segment car wt same spec will be dominant player.

bottom line is:  Naza is bad, inokom is alot worse. no way 110k is a justifiable price. forte comes with a lot more features compared to elantra, base on my info so far. I could be wrong, but you should get my point.

I hope.

I hope sdac too.
*
It's another way round actually.
Tentatively, Elantra come wt more features than Forte.
It come wt sunroof, LCD screen, GPS, Dual zone aircond etc...

Usually Hyundai will place their product premium than their KIA.

But I agree wt Naza is bad, Inokom is a lot worse.
However since their product like Santa Fe, Getz are pricey.
I dont think it will get cheaper than Forte.

Unfortunately no Inokom products are cheap.

thats why, if the price is close to civic..no way i am going for elantra  laugh.gif

What I will do is to get both, an elantra and a civic next yr. (No joke)
Maybe a hybrid civic coz my wife want a hybrid car & since it got no tax.

For now that's the plan. Unless there are new car (at least C segment car) that will be launch in 1Q 2012 wt more features & affordable price.

Added on December 28, 2011, 12:41 pmI wonder why most of time, Malaysian will talk about high price of car in Msia & blame the govt for it.

If U had been in a country that sell a car wt cheap price; then U will know that there are no 2nd hand value for those car. In Brunei for example, nobody want to buy yr 2nd hand car as new car is cheap. U will get option either to keep yr car in yr garage or sell it wt very low price & sometime scrap it. In Japan also almost same case.
At the end, U will lose same amount of money when U stay in Msia.

In Msia, after few yrs U can still sell yr car as 2nd hand car which pricier than new car than some country. Not that bad rite.
Somemore, can take bank loan up to 9yrs wt low interest. not that bad too.
Since in those countries that had cheap car but only take loan usually up to 5yrs wt high interest.

Whether U live in a country that had high price car or low, keep in mind that buying a car not an investment.
It's an expense.

Another bullshit comment . Government force the consumer to buy the new car with higher price actually is good for 2nd value, WTF comment  ??? Why you don't think monthly installment for 5 year loan in other country same as 9 loan installment in Malaysia when after impose the tax ?
*
I am not defending the govt for imposing tax.

The fact is that when I meet my friends in other country. They still blame their govt or their policy where their current car got no value at all.
Lastly some of them had to scrap their current car and some family own more than 5 cars which also involve cost.

After all there are no country in this world where U can get all win-win situation by owning a car.

Yes, i agree. Actually i have change my mind to replace my 13 years car with Elantra. I prefer to save my money and looking for the next brand .Because :
1. The price not compatible at all.
2. No one know the car quality after assembly by local plan
3. The spare part lead time since Elantra still new in Malaysia. I don't want take the risk to leave the car at workshop just waiting for spare park.
4. The Sime Darby service is like a shit.
5. The Hyundai/Sime Darby  assume the people who are waiting for Elantra 2011 like a dummy.
*
In my experience using my family Inokom Matrix and Inokom Getz, their local built quality so far not bad at all. (The car itself is not very good; not the quality)
Same as their BMW CKD which they assemble here in Msia. If it's bad, I dont think BMW will give license to Inokom rite..
I expect Msian version Elantra will be same.

Luckily for me, I had drive wide range of car either it's expensive like Merc/BMW, japanese or cheap car like Kancil that belong to my family members.
What I can say Sime Darby service not too bad either. Much better than EON or Perodua where usually got long waiting period & very busy. It may not good as Honda or Toyota but so far I see their improving.
Few 3S centre are plan to built throughout nation next yr.

About spare part lead time? Maybe U r rite about that.
Any new car usually hard to get spare part. It will hurt U more when U using CBU car or any car that cost more than RM200K when there are not many owning it although it's japanese or german car.
Sometimes it take 1 month, sometimes in take months.
I had experience it before.

In those country their insurance usually cost a bomb, and if you drive a sports car the insurance even crazier

I have a friend with an integra in australia, his insurance cost 1/4 of his car value in the market. He pays 4 years can buy a new car.

True..

Me too. Bet, what's so special about nappa leather vs normal leather?
*
Sheep leather (nappa) is better than cow leather (normal) in term of softness, durability & design.
Urat-urat pada kulit lembu kelihatan agak kasar sedikit.

Actually original CBU Mitsubishi Lancer not using any leather for their seat.
Mitsubishi Motor Malaysia change it to nappa leather seat which is locally made. Mean that the only part in a Msian lancer that's not CBU/ imported from Japan is car seat.
However some owner who prefer original fabric seat still can choose to own it like me. I prefer Japanese style although I still need to pay same amount.
IMHO, original fabric seat is premium fabric & still easily to maintain, far better than fabric that one can see in Proton.
If wanna to upgrade for leather seat, why dont use original Recaro seat for lancer rite.

What I can see based on this picture.
I like to see general cluster rather than supervision cluster. Kurang sakit mata.

I know it can be adjusted but when compare side by side.
I like normal white & black colour LCD which easy for eyes, same like that can be found in Accord or Camry.
Some car already use full colour LCD such as lancer or new civic, but it's not easy to read in a glimpse of eye when u are driving. However it more practical as it will change colour when there is a warning, extra information etc.
Just my opinion.
