I agree with ur 1st part.
But on the 2nd part, I still feel Malaysians are a little narrow minded and not very daring risk takers. My parents are exactly like that. I believe if the price difference is only going to be 10k, correct me if i'm wrong, but a lot of Malaysians would much rather fork out that additional 10k to have a Honda or Toyota. Well, but not me. I've already made up my mind i want this 1.6 Avante... unless it's gonna cost like >100k or something la. haha!

taking risk, having return and taking risk, loosing money is very different...

for the car industry, because we are paying premiums for our cars... there's no point forking out more money to repay the loan when you want to sell/upgrade your ride... therefore people play safe by buying popular brands because there's demand, availability of spare parts, etc...

The fuel consumption is the per tank method or the computer meter method?

I've read somewhere that the fuel consumption meter reading of some of the car manufacturers (don't know whether is delibrately) are lower than reality.
The Hyundai Elantra really looks good. If the engine/ gearbox refinement/ fuel consumption can match japanese then I think it can sell well.

FC quoted by manufacturers are always lower compared to real life driving...

looks wise, hats off for the koreans... engine and gearbox, they still have a long way to go to catch up with the japs...
