After viewing the car 1st hand at KLIMS today i must say that i am really impressed. The interior and exterior is really cool and futuristic plus ample boot space. Really impressive. The rear legroom is comparable to the Hyundai Sonata and Nissan Teana despite both those cars being in a different category. If Hyundai can maintain the specs and keep the pricing competitive then this car will surely do well like the Forte or maybe even better.

Launching is September 2011 right now. Will try to pull earlier to July. No indication on the prices but the engine variant will be 1.6 & 1.8.

1.6 engine will be the same as Forte 1.6. Don't ask me where is the sauce from. Read back previous post.

So, it is really depending on one who prefer avante or forte look. I might opt for Forte cause now got no car, not convenient.

If the prices above was OTR then it would be competitive. But since its not, then it might be too expensive. The Avante's nearest competitor would be the Forte and the 2.0L version is going for around RM98K only which will be about RM10K cheaper than the Avante.
