laggy could be the HDD or the bloatware. Can you run CrystalDiskInfo to check if the HDD still good ?
Noise, nothing much either get use to it or use earphone.
TurboBoost is the self-overclocking feature on the processor, e.g for i5 2410M, it will boost from 2.3GHz to 2.9GHz. But this usually introduce more temperature. You can disable it by:
1. Open Power Option
2. Change Plan Settings (the current plans you are using)
3. Change Advanced Power Settings
4. Go to Processor Power Management
5. Go to Maximum Processor State
6. Set it to 99%, both if you want the TurboBoost always disabled.

Couldn't find much confirmation that SE is using IPS, at least it has decent viewing angle..

Can you open that unknown device properties, go to details, hardware ids, and post the content here ?

hmm, never seen hardware ids with USB/UNKNOWN.

Can you right click that unknown device and uninstall it.
Then "Scan for hardware changes", then check again the hardware ids.

Just to make sure, on the device manager, is there anything under the "Imaging devices" ?

On my SA i see that when we are on stamina mode the refresh rate is at 40hz anyway to make it stay at 60hz rather than just manually switching it every time we startup?

also another problem i noticed is that my screen becomes washedout and becomes normal again let's say after let's say not using it a while or playing video any other people experiencing this ?

Open the Intel HD control panel, go to power - battery, uncheck the Intel Display Power Saving Technology.

vaio S owners...

i've upgraded to windows 8 months back... seems that whenever i do some benchmarking (i use Autodesk Revit) it seems that it only detects the intel graphics and not my Nvidia... WEI scores also uses intel and not Nvidia... even i set it Nvidia as my priority and turn on hybrid (Speed) mode...it still uses my intel card.... sad.gif

What about GPU-Z? Can detect the nVidia ?
