Well to tell u the truth, ARM11 also was used in iPhone 3g...and we saw how that phone fly through its interface rite (and that with lower clock than N8)....hence as I say before, optimization also played a big role in UI fluidity....

BUT...I'm on the "Want more power!!" side...It still make me wonder why Nokia doesn't opt for more modern processor? Haih...

Yes, comparing the map quality, MFM n MSM really pawn Navteq kaw kaw.
But as u said, I'm not a heavy GPS user, and been happy with what Ovi Maps offers me.
And dun forget that Ovi Maps itself is a freeware

Hmm situation not looking very good right now for those on the "Want more power!!" side. It seems even Nokia themselves said in the internet that the proc is really ARM11 based one. Not the newer OMAP3 based one as used in N900.
BUT also having a dedicated GPU to assists the HD stuffs.

I think I can understand him. As we know, Nokia and Symbian was constantly bashed by the media. And that only worsen by the fact that other competitor already step up their game. Mind u, loosing mind share was worse than losing market share. Especially for company like Nokia, which already been the king for a long time.
Hence, for Nokia fan like us, there were a need for Nokia to release such a wonderful phone that others who loves to bash Nokia before could STFU.

But really, a line must be drawn rite. Dun get too overboard or else, maybe u could feel disappointment when the phone already in your hand, as it didn't really fills your over-expectation on the phone.

Hmm, if I'm not mistaken, during the launch of N97, Malaysian launch were the same as global ones. I stand to be corrected though if I'm wrong

Heh...If one thing I learned after all of this time lurking around the internet, I gotta say don't believe Nokia's release date. Whether be Firmwares, new phones etc. Instead, just wait for it to be released.

Pricing? Around 500USD b4 tax and subsidies. Damn cheap for phones with this specs

Well, Symbian^3 already adresses those annoying double tap thing...now it constantly requires only one tap throughout the menu..
The annoying allow connection pop up also was dismissed in this version.
However for me, Symbian^3 just S60v5 on STEROID...which I didn't mind really. As long as the OS itself powerful for my needs. Function over form yo!
The real deal will be Symbian^4 and Meego for Nokia

AFAIK the checkerbox thingy was quite normal when zooming out...Already tried iPhone and I can say that it also have the same checkerbox stuff
Anyway, not a hindrance really to the browsing experience...
But if I've to list one prob, I hve to say that the lack of text reflow when zooming in and out really makes me scratching my head. It is very helpful, especially in reducing the amount of panning u need to do when browsing

To me, this phone will be a hit, in terms of pricing and features.
N97 fiasco were due to the fact that Nokia trying to be cheap and and skimped on the innards hence when they remedy it in N8, I can see that maybe this will be the Symbian "hero" device that everyone intends to buy when they buy N97.

Well the batt can be replaceable by the user themselves...if have the screw driver.
Maybe not mean much but it also means that u can replace the batt in case if the batt become faulty. Heck the batt used inside was just the same one as used in N95 8GB and N97 Mini
For resetting in case of hang/ freeze up, just press the power button for 8 sec
