the community is surprisingly *quite* active.

if only 1.2 comes sooner with QT SDK(cross platform yo!), i can guarantee you there will be more apps for us to download. im guessing most developers are holding back now or waiting in anxiety for 1.2.

also, as soon as ovi supports n900... and meego functionality..

change your bookmark to:

http://facebook.com/home.php

you have to put in "home.php" now to enter full site. strange, it says download for n900 but when you click on it it says not available for n900 yet.

what does that red exclamation mark there stand for?

btw, it seems like 1.2 and meego are imminent.

They emphasize a lot on MeeGo, it's development is consistent and very fast, but PR1.2 takes ages. Previous MeeGo release (console version) there was a date mentioned and accurately it was launch on that date. Now they announce MeeGo 1.0. They're really neglecting PR1.2, it's very sad....
*
all this concludes that meego will be getting full support from the first party meanwhile maemo after 1.2, will be community driven. die or live in the developers hands. nokia has abandoned the ship.

also, just how great is froyo is? apart the flash 10.1 beta?

no matter wat the good news or bad news our nokia n900 can use meego and dont so fast judge maybe nokia still support meego
*
well yeah hopefully hehe. maemo is one great OS too.

just a thought of mine though..

the long delay and the accuracy of meego announcements have be-puzzled me and leaves one pondering... see, the n900 meego for developers, in-vehicle meego, and now the rumor of meego coming end of May which was the exact date they promised. (if it gets released by this week lah) but 1.2.. umm..

one cant help thinking maemo is getting kicked aside.. but we can hope the apps will be both usable on maemo and meego lol

p/s: and being community driven is not a bad thing too. wink.gif. there are lots of dedicated pro developers out there.

This is the official MeeGo UI.From what I gather Nokia putting more emphasis on phone functions on MeeGo.I'm afraid that MeeGo will loose somethings that we were too used with Maemo.
*
just because it shows the phone UI doesnt mean it will supersede maemo great tablet functions mahh. furthermore, 1.2 introduces Qt framework, same goes to meego. so whatever happens, they are interlinked so functions wise would be more or less the same. i think.. like father, like son but with variations. something like that.

but personally i'd be more interested in meego, especially if they follow a six month release schedule. just like Ubuntu.. i miss hardy heron.

anddd i hope that will be the default wallpaper for meego 1.0.

maybe flash 10 in pr1.3. lol

btw, flash 10.1 is a bit overhyped. yes it is indeed new thing for smartphones but right now there is only one and ONE smartphone in this world running on flash 10 (the nexus one) and it is still in beta without GPU support!

At least with Flash 10, we can access Flash 10 sites and play games which requires Flash 10.....
It's not about overhyped or not, having something is better than not having. It's a NICE to have. Don't be like Apple or Steve, just because they can't provide, so they give excuses. N900 deserves update of Flash 10, there's a demo of Flash 10 on N900 long ago.
*
well said. im definitely with you on this. smile.gif but my point was that flash 10 is not the norm at the time of speaking so it is *okay* to miss out flash 10 for now. flash 9 can access 80%(could be wrong) of the websites anyway. well at least those flash 10 websites offer html version too tongue.gif

got chinese input? care to share?
*
i dont think chinese handwriting is featured in this 1.2. couldnt find it.

QUOTE(Eiraku @ May 25 2010, 08:44 PM)
Nokia will not release Meego for N900, but Meego (the org) will release Meego on the N900, even if it's just the dev edition.

*
this has been confirmed by the nokia guy Harri over maemo.org. meego is indeed coming to n900.

reason? the n900 hardware are designed by nokia team and they want to keep them as closed components, and will be exclusively maintained by the employees and subcontractors of nokia.. meego, on the other hand is open sourced so prepare to see a variety of them out there one day once the first downloadable meego firmware is available for n900.

keep your eyes on this website for updates.

Flash makes my LAPTOP crawl, and I want it running on my palmtop?

But I do agree on the "choice" part, Adobe just has to make flash less of a pig on resources, because of which I do prefer pure HTML and AJAX.

But if it was up to me, the entire net should be all text and pictures anyway lol.
*
should not be! what dinasour laptop are you using? tongue.gif so i see you are from the DTF! group. (Death to Flash!) laugh.gif

share share n900 ad in china.

Android is the platform, OS like Eclair, Froyo (frozen yogurt), and the upcoming gingerbread are all based on dessert/food.

and nokia should've named 1.1 Apple, 1.1.1 Orange and 1.2 Banana or something, just for the sake of it. tongue.gif
