infinity reboot? explain situation? like? when it reboot
*
right after flashing pr 1.2, if u using syntax -R, n900 will auto boot. after the 1st loading screen, it will keep reboot, load into loading screen, and reboot again again and again.

Did you try to flash normally without flashing the eMMC.

It's simple, easy and fast and doesn't matter if you have incompatible apps installed or rootfs space not enough.

You're flashing the global firmware right? Downloaded from tablet.nokia.dev?
*
sure, global fw from http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php

There're cases where FOTA causes reboot loop; Those early N900 owners will know, when they update to PR1.1 or PR1.1.1.
*
how about updating via NSU? will it cause reboot loop?

NSU is same like flasher, but it is windows based, Wizard based (click click click).

NSU can fail too, even flasher can fail, but flasher you can re-do again because you have all the files.
NSU, the files is downloaded and stored somewhere unknown to the user, once flash, the file is most probably deleted. I'm not sure if there is failure, NSU will ask you to re-flash again or not.

You will notice during NSU update, there is warning about not disconnecting the cable during the process... imagine power trip, etc.
Besides, when plugin to NSU, after it detects and ask you to update and you click YES, it will download the firmware which take sometime and it never say it is safe to remove the cable? It's not flashing yet, only downloading firmware....
So the whole process would take long time.
*
but for me, as flashing using flasher give me really headache, till now i've reflashed over ten times but nothing success, so it seems updating via NSU is last resort for me smile.gif

still scare to touch ths step, scare will brick my device.

i hv question about update firmware via OTA and NSU.
yesterday i update firmware at app manager, after update complete my application still ther,
so i thnk is it update via OTA the application will still maintain, and NSU will delete all the application(like format)

so if i dnt use flasher software to format my device, can reinstall firmware via NSU?(coz this is much more easy for me) smile.gif
*
dont be scare, brick ur device is nothing. u can always reflash it back to restore the functionality in case something goes wrong. trust me, i've been the worst. yesterday is seems the bad day for me, but in the end, i learn something new.

updating via OTA and NSU is basically the same, u still need to update via NSU in the end. IMHO, flashing using flasher is really quick, less-hassle if u know what are u doing. but as there are many guides on how to flash by using flasher, including the one aspire2006 put it at FP, even inexperienced user can do it brows.gif

btw, if u still scare u might brick ur n900, updating via NSU is 'safest'.
