Off topic a bit... but just wanted to share the good food that we can find in bdr sg long. I tried this thai food restaurant yesterday and surprisingly they taste so good! not sure was it only yesterday or usually the shop is also empty. hopefully their business can sustain and we can enjoy good thai food within our neighbourhood.

Location: Same row with Maybank bandar Sg Long

Here the latest detail i get from PropertyGuru.com.my regarding EKVE project.

If forest reserves are sacrificed to make way for the East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) project, the country will be regressed, representatives from Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) said at a recent public inquiry.

As reported by The Star, the two-day public inquiry was held from Thursday at the state secretariat building in conjunction with the proposed de-gazettement of parts of the Ulu Langat, Gombak, Ampang and Bukit Sungai Puteh forest reserves totalling 106.65ha.

The inquiry was chaired by a panel comprising representatives from the Forestry Department, Public Works Department, Environment Department, Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS), Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Institute for Environment and Development (Lestari) UKM, the state secretariat as well as Selangor executive councillors Elizabeth Wong and Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi.

“Major cities in other parts of the world do not need highways and they will always protect their forests. Also, the River of Life project is in full swing to clean up our rivers but they want to build a highway at the river source that will pollute it,” said MIP representative Khairiah Mohd Talha.

“We uphold the National Physical Plan, wherein the Selangor State Park is classified Rank 1 Environmentally Sensitive Area. Not only that, the highway will also destroy the Central Forest Spine masterplan aimed at linking up forest complexes in peninsular Malaysia,” she explained.

MIP council member Datin Noraida Saludin also highlighted the disruption to the already scarce water supply and steep land development as consequences of the highway.

The Forestry Department had received more than 700 letters opposing the highway, and invitations were sent out to 300 of them as some were overseas.

“The panel would collate the information, including input from the letters, and bring the matter up to MTES in four weeks for a decision”, added Wong.
“It is the first time we are having a public inquiry for proposed forest de-gazettement and I am glad people are utilising it. There have been some shortcomings, but we will continue to improve on the procedure,” she said.

The public inquiry was held following a new amendment to the National Forestry Act (Adoption) Enactment 1985 and the release of Public Inquiry (Selangor) Rules 2014.

Earlier, environmental group Treat Every Environment Special (TrEES) highlighted several flaws in the conduct of the inquiry’s procedure, among them late invitations and limited information.
