ive been thinking. in a thousand years from now we wont need internet. everybody can read or "grasps" each other's mind. hence no more university and colleges. no more capitalistic economy. prisons and law enforcements cease to exist. no point for hate or anger.

i mean, this kind future is inevitable. we are just at the beginning of the Information Age. whether we believe it or not, we WILL end up somewhere eventually. provided the level of our technological advancement keep on at constant pace and no apocalypse war or destruction in the future, we will reach there. the fact is, it is the destiny of human. its the purpose of humanity. to be Gods of our minds. we are here on the purpose to infiltrate space with ideas and thoughts.

conciousness is the grounds of all being. eventually we will pursue knowledge without any INTEFERENCE . if we can do that, we will manifest knowledge in reality. all of us one day will reach the level of avatar we have read in history, the buddhas the jesus etc. we are all connected at the "neuron" level, its just that we dont know it yet.

what do you think. or am i just stoned?

Well...I think human will be more similar like how computers evolving...Previously we install encyclopedia or any other medias like movies, music or pictures in our PC, now everything is available on the internet.

For Human, is the same like we don't really memorize phone numbers anymore, or email address or something other details. Everything we rely on media storage or internet.. Soon, human wont have to know anything, we just need to know how to OBTAIN and PROCESS.

If the OBTAIN method is simple, as easy as plug into some cables, or connected through frequency like wifi into our brain, then Human will become a PURE PROCESSOR. You are right human will pursue knowledge witout any borders, but we don't really keep it in our brain.

I wont relate this to the pseodo-science such as astral projection, higher conciousness or mutual vibration, but more towards modern computer technology. As our brain is so similar with CPU, RAM and Hardisk, while neurons are just like current in a computer, I can see a possibility that human will connect to the next generation of the 'Internet' or Inter-Humanmind-Network'

Decreasing memory marks the start of the Info Age. Today people cant even remember their own phone. "Okay, let me give you a miss call. ... There, now you have my number". Previously, mamaks will count you bill mentally. Today most of them use the calculator. The end of Info Age, I think will have more bad than good.

A thousand years is quite a tough projection.

But here are some of my thoughts on your description:

"Everybody can read each other's mind": I assume that this imply everyone would have the same degree of intelligence. For this to occur, everyone must have the same capacity to learn, no morons or geniuses that would stand out from the crowd. A mandatory biological engineering to alter the brains of every child is to be employed, and plus a consistently standardized routine update of all brains from childhood till death, coupled with the same exposure for every person to their environment, making sure no one gets any extra knowledge than others. This and ensuring that everyone gets the same amount of sleeping time, so no one would spent more time pondering on new science theory or philosophical problems or attempt new religious cult. Not to forget also that everyone must have the same lifespan. But even then, could an eight years old boy read the mind of an eighty years old?

This can be avoided unless of course, if knowledge is finite. But this is very arguable. Every sentience entity that was born brings fresh new knowledge to this world. He brought to this world his identity, his relation to others, his history, his hobbies, his contributions, etc. One could write a long essay to describe every sentience entity that ever came to existence.

For knowledge to be finite, all things must remain stagnate, including time. This would negate further existence of sentience entity, for introduction of sentience beings introduce chaos to the system, and introduced more knowledge.

A world without police or prisons sounds Utopian. Again, this also implies that everyone would have the same morality, the same exposure to their surrounding, etc. To contain and maintain such chaotic entity as a humanity would requires enormous amount of controls both direct and subtle.

The scenario you mentioned reminds me of the Borg in Star Trek. Everyone is mentally connected to a collective, the hive mind and everyone reads each other like an open book.

I think you can already do that with facebook etc. So far it has not led to greater wisdom. Privacy intrusion and identity theft got lah, but no godlike powers yet as far as I can see.

What's stopping us, in my opinion, is our inability to distinguish knowledge from wisdom.

Many high IQ people (great knoweldge) do dumb things (low wisdom.)

Many wise people (high wisdom) have hardly left their village (low knowledge.)

We think they are the same but they are not.

There are many examples to show that knowing a lot doesn't always lead us to the higher path. You can find people whose IQ are off the charts who are also the unhappiest people you ever met.

How does raw knowledge lead to the picture of universal wisdom you described? That is the dots we need to connect.

Beastboy is right in saying that.

I come from an academic background and I have seen people with lots of knowledge, but still the wisdom part comes in.

Wisdom deals with the using of knowledge.

As awesome as the human species is, we can only do so much.

Technological singularity is Man's next step.
