How to make downloads run fastah in eMule

1 . Keep emule running 24/7
2 . Use the Connection Wizard & rightly configure the setup of your connection.
3 . Ensure you have a High ID connection.
4 . Queue 5-25 downloads at one time. (Having >30 = BAN on most network)
5 . Upload and build up credits. Credits move you through the queue line faster.
6 . Enable KAD. (Make sure the connection is open)
7 . Be patient.

this will be useful for new users of this program ..

however, there are a few minor adjustments to be made:

QUOTE(RangerRed @ Apr 20 2005, 07:22 PM)
Full drak green bar = A lot of ppl have the file for you to dl.
a full green bar in downloads tells you that your transfer is complete while
a green vertical line in your bar indicates sections of a file that you are currently downloading.

i think what you mean here is dark blue ?

QUOTE(RangerRed @ Apr 20 2005, 07:22 PM)
Full dark red bar = No one has the ful u want to dl or even parts of it.
It doesnt necessarily have to be a "full red bar", a single thin stripe of red in your downloads will also mean that you & your sources does not have the required parts needed for a complete transfer.

cool.gif cheers

my download speed is very uncertain...
starting aaround 50kbps, and goes smoothly, but suddenly the status become waiting once it is going to finish.
is it realted to the source problem?

You're ALWAYS going to get the slowest part last in the ed2k network

Slowest part : A portion of a file which less people have

files sometime seem to stall at 80 to 90-ish percent because not as many sources have that last part you're looking for..

=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-===-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=

QUOTE(CosmicZone @ Apr 21 2005, 10:23 PM)
by the way, could someone explain how we view the source

take an example: 10/56 (9) or 6?

Sources in the Transfer Window:

aa/bb+cc (dd):

aa = Sources with parts you need,

bb = Total sources emule has found,

+ cc = is A4Af sources.
(Asked 4 Another File; means that a client has more than one file that you want to download from them, but since you only have one position in a client's queue, you enter their queue for one file and receive an A4AF for the other file.. )

(dd) = Sources transfering to you.
However, if the total sources equals the sources that have parts you need, there will only be 2 or 3 numbers aa (bb) or bb+cc(dd).

=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-===-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-==-=

QUOTE(CosmicZone @ Apr 21 2005, 10:23 PM)
what can i do to resume back the waiting d/l

eMule works in a queue system, it is natural that your downloads take their time to complete.

QUOTE(CosmicZone @ Apr 21 2005, 10:23 PM)
or increase the speed of d/l?
thank you...

Edonkey,Overnet & Emule performance benchmarked

heres mine (on a 2mbps line):
Highest speed attainable in 3 hours on high-sourced downloads

Overnet 0.53+OverbotLite:

Edonkey2000 Basic v1.01:
No screenies but it was +/- 160KB/s..

Edonkey2000 Basic v1.1:
Untested

eMule 0.45b Pure Client:

My Verdict :Overnet > Edonkey > eMule in terms of overall speed but more than often it is the other way round when it comes to rarities & the variety of sources available.

Here's another Overnet vs Edonkey vs eMule speed benchmark:

1. what should i do if having low id?
2. my tcp post = 4242, correct?

thanks for you information also smile.gif notworthy.gif

There are normally 3 things that can cause LowID's:

#1 - the inbuilt windows xp firewall (you should turn this off)
#2 - a firewall (you should allow eMule to run thru the firewall)
#3 - a router (you should forward the ports in your router to allow eMule running). It is also recommended that you change the default ports (TCP:4662 & UDP:4672) in emule because our ISP blocks them ..

for #3 : identify your router here & forward the ports as necessary. go here
to set-up your forwarded ports on eMule.

I keep losing connection on Razorback2. What could be the problem? I got highID but still each time connected for about 10min, I lost the connection. Same with DonkeyServer No 1 & etc. Bottomline is I always lost connection with the 'bigger' servers & keep ending up with ChezToff (Serveur Fr).
QUOTE(holyghost @ Apr 13 2005, 09:48 PM)
#1 - Downloading only 25 files

#2 - Sharing only 18 files

#3 - its below 3000 resources

Are you connected to popular servers with a low ping?
Best to try one's under 400.
The lower the ping, the more stable the connection is likely to be but ping times vary with time of day because of internet congestion.

yuckz,
A right click on any of your friends in Messages lets you give them a "friend upload slot". This upload slot will get active as soon as the next slot is free allowing your friend to download your files without having to wait in the queue..

You can enter your friend's ID manually by going to:
Messages, right click anywhere on the left pane of the window, select "Add To Friends" & enter his IP Address & TCP Port number..
Next, right click on his nick, and enable the option "Establish Friend Slot".
The friendslot won't be established the moment you add it, instead it will be given the next time the user asks for it/ slot is free. Make sure both sides are on High-ID

you have to disconnect emule off from any server/kad network before you can do any port testing.

Re-do your port forwarding
start > run > cmd > ipconfig
Re-check your IP address from there (not subnet mask/IP gateway).
Enter that IP address at the "Local Address From-To"
in your modem's port forwarding startpage.

oh yes, beware of fake razorback servers.
most likely operated by MPAA/RIAA ( http://forum.emule-project.net/index.php?showtopic=84908 )
The real razorbacks are in these IP subnet range : 195.245.244.xxx

update your server.met files here : http://www.gruk.org/list.php (click on "Add To Emule")

my 2 cents :

you actually dont expect fast speeds with eMule smile.gif
by chance if you have sources of the same type of media on BT, i suggest you to download it thru BT. its much faster that way.
eMule is good for rare & hard to get files..

if no one is seeding old files, can u get it with ed2k??
*
your question is too general actually.
no one around can provide you with a definite answer unless you try searching the media by yourself.
most old medias are available for download in emule provided if youre connected to a popular server (eg: the real razorback server) & a high ID session.

QUOTE(xooper @ Oct 22 2005, 03:13 PM)
I was using Tmnet hospot 24/7... I was classified as low id... in emule..
I already switch off the firewall in windows..and also set the 4242/4800 tcp/udp port...but the download speed still slow and low id..

HOw to get high id?? can make it faster??

I suspect you have the wrong Local IP Address entered.
double check if youre using the right Local IP Address in your modem's startup page.

Start > Run > CMD
type: ipconfig
press enter.
now jot down the IP Address (and not Subnet Mask / Default Gateway / Media State Gateway) and & redo your open ports with that new IP address.

I was using TMnet hospot....so i dunno what is the brand of the router...anyone know?? i need high id....help....

anyway...thank for help~!

alamak, im not familiar with wireless networking.
try asking in the Network & Broadband section on how to configure an open port.

oh yes,
ip addresses are assigned by tmnet.
local ip address isnt.

try "start > run > cmd"
type: ipconfig

there is a static local ip address there.

TIDAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

TIM KAI AAAAAAAAAA

Razorback Servers Seized By Belgian Police

It appears that one of the largest eDonkey2000 communities is no more. Often occupied by over 1 million eDoney2000 users spread over several servers, Razorback2 is often regarded as the very lifeblood of this network. This morning, users of this server network found their community offline.

At this time, details are extremely scarce. However it is being reported the Federal Belgian Police have raided and seized Razorback2's servers. In addition, it is suspected the administrator of Razorback2 is currently in custody.

Razorback2 was an eDonkey2000 indexing server - very different in nature from an indexing site such as ShareReactor. Unlike indexing sites, Razorback2's index was only available through an eDonkey2000 client such as eMule. While it does not host any actual files or multimedia material, it does index the location of such files on the eDonkey2000 network. The legality of such indexing remains questionable, however this has not deterred copyright enforcement actions.

Giving credence to this report, the Razorback2 home page simply times out upon request. In addition, pinging the IP address of Razorback's home page and eDonkey2000 servers yields the same result. Only "fake" Razorback2 servers are online, communities designed by copyright enforcement entities to mimic yet deter unauthorized file-sharing.

The Belgian Federal Police homepage at this time have no information regarding this raid, however considering the magnitude of the situation this should change. One thing is certain; Razorback2 has been removed from the eDoneky2000 network. Most noticeably, the eDonkey2000 population has shrunk from its usual 3.5 million users to approximately 3 million users - an unusual departure from its average.

Update: Below is the MPA press release provided to Slyck.com:

BELGIAN & SWISS AUTHORITIES BREAK RAZORBACK2

World's Largest P2P Facilitator Put Out of Illegal Business

Brussels, Los Angeles-- In a joint operation today police and prosecuting authorities in Belgium and Switzerland shut down the infamous file-swapping network Razorback2. Razorback2 was the number one eDonkey peer-to-peer server facilitating the illegal file swapping of approximately 1.3 million users simultaneously. Razorback2 was operated as a commercial enterprise indexing over 170 million files including millions of copyrighted movies, software, games, TV programming and music with international and U.S. titles. The site was regularly used by people located all over the world, with the vast majority of users based in Europe.

"This is a major victory in our fight to cut off the supply of illegal materials being circulated on the Internet via peer-to-peer networks," said Motion Picture Association (MPA) Chairman and CEO Dan Glickman. "By shaving the illegal traffic of copyrighted works facilitated by Razorback2, we are depleting other illegal networks of their ability to supply Internet pirates with copyrighted works which is a positive step in our international effort to fight piracy."

Swiss authorities arrested the site's operator at his residence in Switzerland this morning and searched his home. At the same time, on the authority of a local magistrate, Belgian police seized the site's servers located at an Internet hosting center in Zaventem near Brussels. The operation conducted by Swiss and Belgian authorities aimed at cutting off a major supply and facilitator of illegal files to several popular illegal file swapping networks. By shutting down Razorback2, the ease with which pirates can obtain illegal content online will slow dramatically. Since November of 2004, authorities have closed down all of the major eDonkey servers in the United States, and now, Europe.

The operators of Razorback2 had clear financial motives. In addition to collecting "donations" from users, revenue was also generated through the sale of advertising on the site, usually promoting pornographic websites. In addition, the availability of offensive content will be inhibited. The operators of this eDonkey site chose not to exercise control over files being traded by users which including those containing child pornography, bomb-making instructions and terrorist training videos.

"Razorback2 was not just an enormous index for Internet users engaged in illegal file swapping, it was a menace to society," said Executive Vice President and Worldwide Anti-Piracy Director John G. Malcolm. "I applaud the Swiss and Belgian authorities for their actions which are helping thwart Internet piracy around the world."

Razorback2 posted statistics on its site regarding the number of uses online at any one time, reveling in its reputation as the world's largest P2P facilitator. Today, users attempting to connect to Razorback2 read the message "Razorback space 2.0 appears to be dead."

Chris Marcich, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the MPA's European Office said: "We are very grateful to the Swiss and Belgian authorities for their cooperation and effective action in dealing with this particularly egregious enterprise and the individual profiting from it."

The MPA and its member companies, working with the local film industries, have a multi-pronged approach to fighting piracy, which includes educating people about the consequences of piracy, taking action against Internet thieves, working with law enforcement authorities around the world to root out pirate operations and working to ensure movies are available legally using advanced technology.

With more than one million users, the largest waiter eDonkey/eMule of the world, Razorback, east was gone this morning in the hands of the Belgian federal police force. Two of its administrators remain injoignables per hour when we write these lines.

We have only very few information. The whole of the waiters of Razorback were seized this morning towards 10H by the Belgian federal police force. Although Razorback association domiciled in Switzerland, it is in Belgium that the system main part was installed. Razorback did not lodge any illegal contents and even took part very actively in the diffusion of legal contents such as those of our chain of remote loading of software or the free musics of Jamendo.

The waiter used for eMule and eDonkey was nevertheless an index of million files exchanged on the networks peer-to-peer, including one great part were illicit. The principal administrator of Razorback had indicated in the past that it was ready with blacklister the files brought back to him by the holders of royalties, but it never had any answer. Finally the whole of the material was seized this morning, indicates a source close to Razorback to us, while two administrators of the waiter remain injoignables at this beginning of afternoon.

Razorback tried to reconcile legality and P2P while taking part in many legal projects, by providing the stastic invaluable ones for the cabinets of marketing, and by diffusing paying files protected by DRM, for the account of content providers.

But especially, the disappearance of Razorback will not change absolutely anything for the million users eMule, who profit already since from very many months of a network entirely decentralized baptized "Kad".

We will inform you as soon as we will have more information.
