Got it for RM819 .. seems to be the same all across shops. Probably if I wait for another few weeks, the price will go down .. but heck, I need it to build my new system smile.gif I'm not good in writing a review and there are many websites that have reviewed the board .. smile.gif

Now, need to learn about all these overclocking thing .. assembled everything already this morning inside my new Corsair 600T casing.. BTW, currently running MacOSX on it and yet to find time to install Win7 .. bought Win7 last week but yet to play around with it. So .. all those fancy things that Z68 have are not used at the moment.

What's the different between asus p8z68v-pro and asus p8z68v without the pro ? At c zone price is cheaper by RM 100 unsure.gif

No solid source of the link ? or just rumors ?

QUOTE(mcchin @ May 25 2011, 02:10 PM)
1st point
This is not an Intel create forum. So i would take the info with a grain of salt.

2nd
What if I "confirm" you that Ivy bridge are not compatible with z68 chipset. What are you gonna do?
PC buying have always been an equilibrium to what you need and what you can afford, NOW!
not in 5 years time and not even in 1 year time

my old pc served me well for 4 years (nforce4 sli, that dont even support core2duo processor, stuck with pentium 4 type dual core for that period)
now with my new setup, I hope to at least last me another 5 years, and even when ivy comes out, i wont be much enthus to change
*
If you confirm with solid+source will not support so there's no point getting an expensive motherboard like z68.
Maybe your opinion is different , sometimes " an equilibrium to what you need and what you can afford" doesn't work well for some aspect.
Spend extra now save future upgrade or spend less save future upgrade.Able to afford both but which one is wiser ?
The word "what you need" for me is "$ to save".Price is what I need.
Dont want to discuss much since it'll be out of topic. Thanks for telling.

To be honest, this is a straight forward question where information is available all over the web. A quick google would give you the answer and results. I believe it would be better if this thread is used for discussions rather than quick Q&A like these.

z68 is not expensive , the cheapest you can find is RM4xx . If you said internet dont have solid news , then dont mention this forum la , you thought this forum is under Intel ? We got the news from internet also -.-' , pointless for asking for such question . If you really want confirmation , wait until ivy bridge release
*
? Cheapest is RM4xx for unknown brand asrock , search though garage sales. Was it reliable enough ? As I know it's low end company sub out by asus ?
IIRC sometime ago , a forum member here working at intel warn every user about previous batch motherboard which having those controller sata bug and proven intel knew the bug before it launch but intel still pushing out the chipset . I think it consider an internal news. hmm.gif

Just that sometimes everyone here still worry again with socket change every new processor batch , 1156 -> 1 year to 1155 ? 1366 -> 2 years to 2012 ?

Are you kidding ? did you do your study ? low end ? you can search through the internet , try check out the p67 z68 extreme review !  I cant say it is high end but z68 extreme 4 is best bang of buck in Rm5xx range. if too too pricey , you say it is expensive , if it is affordable , you say too cheap -.- . Now I can confirm you didnt do your research.
*
You guys really take it too serious
1st I never said too cheap on asrock , 2nd I never said low end.As before I just mention asking whether Asrock is reliable or not.
Sometimes on your perspective view , maybe RM 5xx is your best bang of buck but it doesn't mean for everyone.

What kind of research you always mention ? asking whether how both different brand motherboard opinion on reliability and being accuse for no research ?.
Maybe this is a wrong thread to ask hardware question , I just though it's convenient on this thread title Z68 rather than creating a new topic.
I feel like everyone here is too expert and looking down for member here for not doing much research.I think I should mention I am just newbie smile.gif

Another example

If you say internet source might not be trusted , so you need to ask LYN for confirmation .  Do you think we are under intel ?  We also refer to internet source what.

Using search in this forum

See ? how easy it can be achieved by using google and search function . This is call RESEARCH . Because of people want spoon feeding , there be will duplicated thread or question in 1 week , sinking those thread that might really need help. And wasting server resources , I know it is free but we also need to learn to appreciate.

This is what my opinion. smile.gif sorry about that hope you wouldn't mind .

then you air your grievance here, so you think this LYN is >9000 than the other site. So as a LYN user her,

I PROCLAIM THAT IVY BRIDGE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANY CURRENT CHIPSET. NO REASON JUST THAT I SAY SO.

enuff? wait for the new chipset then buy you system

I think not, especially Malaysian/Asian
I blame it on kiasuism

If really does leak out, then that fella does not realised the implications involve

pps: this thread is not a place for leaks, rather a place where info from around the WWW is shared. I came here because the info is compile in a thread, so no need to trawl the net for any of them

There was supposed to be a i5-3550k, guess Intel decided to scrap that (since the 3550 uses HD2500 Intel graphics controller and doing so would create a farce of names again) and use the 3570k as the 'tock' replacement for the 2500k.
So perhaps an un-announced i5-3590k as the 2600k replacement then?
*
As your opinion on reviews , how much actually will 3570k perform ? just estimate since the i7 3960k review ? compare worth waiting or upgrade ? unsure.gif

Expect a 10-15% performance improvement overall, clock-for-clock in comparison of the 3570k and the 2500k.
Honestly, I don't think it'll be worth for Sandy Bridge users to upgrade.

Ivy Bridge biggest change is a better intergrated GPU (expecting it to rival AMD Llano), a faster Quick Sync and a cooler/lower power consumption CPU.
*
Cooler ? is it normal for 2500k stock speed temp hovering around 45'c -50'c ? will 3570k works better on with temp 40'c ?
QUOTE(SSJBen @ Jan 10 2012, 03:57 PM)
Yeap, you'll get better OCing potential out of IB.
But IB are meant to be drop-in replacements for SB, so I still don't think it'll be feasible for an upgrade. 2500k at 4.5ghz is still plenty fast for most programs today and atleast the next 2 years.
On a related note though, Intel phail. laugh.gif

Bro, believe me, u need to get a better cooler which is the aftermarket one to achieved such results..
Salute if u can do  it on stock cooler (i doubt it) but, be aware it might gonna reduce ur proc life rapidly!

The cheapest aftermarket around is the CM 212+ or the latest EVO.. can get less than RM100 if im not mistaken. I'm glad my Tuniq's seated perfectly on my P8Z68-V that previously to cool down i7 930 on a X58a-UD3R..

My i5 now running at 4.5ghz with a 45-50°C at full load! Quite happy with it now, cancelled my plan for the Corsair H50/70.. hehe  rclxms.gif
A 4.5ghz is best enough for my everyday usage for now..  thumbup.gif
*
oh.... would like to ask some newbiew question , having those huge cooler , any onf you worry it'll fall down or not seated correctly ?
About Asus P8Z68-V LX , can this motherboard fit on those huge cooler such as CM EVO ? how well does it overclock ? anyone using ?

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Jan 11 2012, 02:19 AM)
45-50c on a stock cooler with Malaysia weather?
No air-cond turned on I assume, that's somewhat normal.

Hard to say yet how much cooler the 3570k is, there are too many factors.

As for OCing, 4.5ghz on a stock cooler is do-able... but not with our weather lol.
Even if you have your air-cond turned on full blast 24/7, it'll be pretty dangerous to have that overclock running 24/7 with just the stock cooler.

Those who have done it with the stock cooler live in a much cooler country and they're just doing it for tests, not using it everyday.
*
No air cond , 45-50'c with stock temp and stock speed.
I know that , malaysia weather is different but just wanted to ask only. For sure not 24/7 , maybe few hours 3 for some gaming ?

QUOTE(Boldnut @ Jan 11 2012, 09:54 AM)
Well with potential extra 500MHz OC, and a HT then another 2 MB extra cache, I think I will upgrade. And my Mobo is 5years warranty. that means if I take care it might last at least 7years. So I think I will benefit much on Ivy after 4-5years.
*
Since when IB got 2mb cache ? except for i7-3770K?

Right now , if I remember correctly , when i5 2500k was release the price would be around RM 700-710 right ?
2500k = USD $216 , 3570k = USD $225K
Guess need to save up how much ? with our malaysia currency rate with USD 3.185 ?
