QUOTE(carbonfibre @ Nov 22 2013, 10:20 AM) Guys i just moved from Audio Technica to Senn Just got myself a Senn Amperior , but I'm really disappointed in the quality of the cable provided. Any suggestions for a 3.5mm cable upgrade ? Kindly guide what sort of cable i should get. Im using it on a DJ mixer and the quality of this cable will definitely tear easily ! How long should i burn these babies in ? Currently using pink noise I think last time PC work made a custom "vero" cable for Goldring DR150. Maybe you can find it out from Jaben or PCwork himself?

I don't know about 700 being bad or sth, maybe it's just different.
650's veil I think is due to the lowering of high mids (damn that funny low-high-mid words lol)? It's definitely much smoother tho.
600 is very balanced. 800 is bright and wide.

QUOTE(chanhin @ Aug 12 2014, 11:09 PM) Thanks for the information. Anyone know when HD700 was produced? My guess is between 2003 and 2009? I think problem has his point. Try checking headfi forums, lots of HD600/HD650 along HD800. But HD700 relatively rare... funny... Some product design mistake? Yeah... That's my current plan Thanks for the information. I'd think it's the vision of the engineers. Just that the market isn't that welcoming to the idea. Go balanced! Haha. Since it's balance ready with the removable cables!

QUOTE(chanhin @ Aug 12 2014, 11:48 PM) HD800 is out of my reach. So you guys saying no need test HD700? And rather choose between HD600 and HD650? Nah, I mean HD600 and HD650 both allow balanced cable too! HD700? test it by all means. Who know it may strike you? It's definitely more treble happy than both HD600 and HD650, if that could somehow hits you? Haha.

QUOTE(Kaerna @ Apr 21 2015, 09:28 AM) For me the HD600/HD650 is one of the worst headphone to begin the audiophile headphone journey. Too many times I've seen aspiring head fi splurge almost RM1.7k for the HD650 only to be disappointed when plugged into their Samsung/iPhone. Heck one time my brother borrowed my HD650 only and plug into his pc audio out only to find that a sub RM1k Sony headphone sounded better than the HD650. The HD6xx was created for hi fi speaker users who wants discrete listening when needed(hence the super long cable of the HD650) Most Pre amps and integrated amps comes with their own amplified headphone output,so for these audiophiles getting the headphones is sufficient,as they already have the accessories to power these demanding headphones. For newbies without existing amplifiers, they would at least need to fork out an additional RM500 at least to get even a decent drive out of the HD6XX,which puts the effective cost of owning a HD650 to at least RM2.2k(or even RM3k if you're looking for cable upgrades) lol. bro, 300Ω is no portable lo. Unless some dick n heads straight away intro these to amateurs who want to listen songs on their phones. I guess you wanted to say :To begin Portable Audiophile Headphone Journey, and your statement will be much closer to my experience. Yeah, even the lowly PX200 or HD2xx series are easier to sing with smartphones and low powered audio player compared to the high ohms brethren. Just imagine spending 5k on HD800 and say it sucks on iphone 3.5mm out? LOLOL.

QUOTE(chanhin @ Apr 21 2015, 11:07 PM) Well, if I can afford HD800, I might consider using it on my phone as well.. Or maybe using Fiio X5 only I won't... touch HD800... with phone... or even X5. LOL. It's in no way looking down on either playback systems. It's just that HD800... is HD800. U know, that beech which is so hard to please.

QUOTE(+3kk! @ Jul 31 2015, 12:50 PM) I would strongly suggest you to try, the HD800 is not an improvement over teh HD650, its different, the best way i could describe it is imagine sennheiser mixing with ATH. Its kinda an answer to the complaint that the 650 doesnt have enough trebles and "veiled". folks (like myself) who loved the whole laid back dark sound that the 650 has might not like the sound signature of the 800 IMHO if you love teh 650, my suggestion is to see if you can get a better amp. this is because audio doesnt age like general electronics (although headfi and shops would want you yo believe so) where a new model out performs the old model. An ex-flagship model is as good as any other piece of equipment you can buy out there the senn 650 veil is as good as gone over these few years lol. last time i heard an old unit, i was like wad was that shroud. lately went to try a later version 650, it is gone!
