yeah, hd650/600 will improves significantly depending on the setup. but i think beyer dt880/600 excels hd650 on that point. this beast really has no limit, the higher level the setup, the better they sound. i've never experienced hooking up dt880/600 into something much more high-end setup and the dt880/600 actually does not improve..

different with dt880/600, hd650 will actually stop improving until some point of upgrade..*just my 2 cents

I think you need to help this guy getting the best mix for dt880 tongue.gif

DACport is hardly simple... That's one good DAC.. Since u have symphonica, the D1 itself might be sufficient (I have yet to try this), coz bro yuheng told me that symphinca has a perfect colouration, a good DAC and a neutral amp is all you need.
*
Well actually even by HD650 itself it does need a neutral amp and DAC as well since the sound signature of HD650 has been tuned by sennheiser themselves. This is also the same reason why you shouldn't pair it with "colored" amplifier as well otherwise it will sound terrible on certain genre due to dramatic changes on the HD650.

Well then you know without symphonica you need to have some really decent setups to push the HD650 higher compared to the ones with symphonica cable (personal view coz I tried it before) thumbup.gif

lol i didn't know that post of mine sparked of such a discussion here. guys, i think we have to understand that its all on a sliding scale. and in this case, its my sliding scale and my personal opinions. anyway all i said was similar performance, and not sounding same or even similar.
*
Some people may think that HD650 will sound the same as others if you tell them that way. Should choose a better word next time. sweat.gif

A little detail about sound signature for each headphone as well as showing how it differentiate with each other based on that would be suffice. Not to say you're wrong on everything but it's better to explain a little bit more just to prevent the misunderstanding with everyone here sweat.gif

so there will only be HD800's
have to treat my HD650 better lu
*
Well we still have the HD700 but even then it isn't enough to fill the HD650 gap due to it's price tag ($1k each) sad.gif

i have compared the Hd650 and Hd600, the 650 sounded more control to me. the 600 bass is stronger. if u r into bass 600 is for u. but for me, i prefer the controlled and balanced sound of the 650. well, everybody's preference is different. just choose the one that u feel is the best smile.gif
*
WOW that's the first I heard HD650 being more balanced then HD600 ( HD600 is famous for being the most balanced headphone at it's price range ). Not to say you're wrong or anything but as you said earlier, everyone has their own taste on things thumbup.gif
