Can anybody recommend me a HTIB with optical input and could decode dobly 5.1 for usage with ps3?

someting under 1k would b best and plan to put it ina small bedroom

Not all HTiB comes with Optical Inputs....most budget ones offer Coaxial only.

For less than 1K...bad2928 recommended one should be sufficient as I think it has both Optical in and Coaxial in.

Next are the Samsung HTiB sets...it also offers Optical ins..price is much lower than Philips.

Do not buy Panny HTiB as even though it has Optical-ins...it doesn't support DTS through Optical....JVC I'm not sure.

Best is bring along your stuff to test it out at the shop...make sure the movie files you bring have DTS and DD

Bro, i used to have Pioneer HTIB, with 2 tower , centre speaker , 2 rear speaker.

Cant recall the model. Its a DVD player with Optical output.I plugged my PS3 to LCD w HDMI, and sound i use optical cable to my pioneer htib dvd cum receiver. Astonishing output.

So i guess Pioneer does have audio output but not sure if the new models doesn't have one.

You can check the specs out in the Samsung Malaysia Webby, afaik, only Samsung and Philips offer this for Sub-1000 category.
Dun trust me...bring a long your stuff to test it out.


That was 2 years ago model...the latest ones only high end have optical....I'm surprised too this coming from Pioneer!

Wua, that means now cannot buy any HTIB system with digital input for <1k?

You can try to find a Logitech Z680. It should be around RM1000. Better than typical HTiBs that has built-in DVD players (if the DVD player is broken you can still use the system) but very boomy.

Increase your budget to RM2000 and you can get a HTiB system that can give you lossless audio that will suit your PS3.

So there's no question about Pioneer not having audio. Someone mentioned no audio output or i overlooked

buy a used Pioneer HTZ777DVD then...

for htz282 and below there are no optical input

Finally found 1 that is cheap with 5.1optical input. Samsung HT-2200, only sell for rm499. anybody got it?
