Can you guys elaborate on the way in removing nub by using sand paper to sand the nub till the it is flat to the plastic surface and then polish it to remove all the scratches caused by the sanding ?

what grid of sand paper do you used ? what polishing agent do you used ? what cloth ? and etc

please provide as much details as possible or point me to the right website. Nubs are just getting on my nerves...

Thx in advance

I am just wondering can I use industrial putty on plastic model kits ?

Example of industrial putty -> http://ufixx.com.my/catalog/Filler-Product...erior-Exterior/

what are the Pros and Cons in using industrial putty compared to Hobby brands putty such as Tamiya, Mr. Hobby and so on ?

when I want to paint the surface white, is it advisable to use conventional grey primer ? or need to use white primer

the downside of using white primer is that it can't do error checking

any experience with white paint on grey primed surface ?

umm... why and how does anyone want to paint a whole model with just marker. will out out rather ugly. i have to advice against this!

use grey primer, but  what i do is i add some white into the primer. otherwise you just spray another layer of white la.. should be ok.

How do you add white into the primer ? Assuming that you are using spray primer.

Well i really have 0% knowledge on modelling painting so i was under the impression that gundam marker was also an alternative to colouring the kits besides those bottled or spray paints  hmm.gif anyway thanks for the tip though, at least now i know i wouldn't resolve to repaint my entire kit with just gundam markers.

oh and how you guys usually coat your gundams? pieces by pieces on the runner or the whole figure once it has been fully assembled?

Spray whole torso, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, head and etc. You should get the idea. smile.gif

Painting is very easy icon_rolleyes.gif

I trained my spray painting skills by using plastic spoons that i got from college's cafeteria laugh.gif

I test until I am happy with my end results

yeah, you'll need another thin layer. tbh, i think if you're doing a metallic red, you should do this

black -> silver -> clear red

imo, the silver will make or break this project, so better to invest in mr hobby or tamiya silver. color will be better.

why need to have a layer of black ?

I thought Silver-> clear red is enough to get the effect ?

I am also for looking clear colour spray cans, any industrial brand to recommend ?

Guys, any experience with Liquid masking ?

i just watched some of the tutorials from youtube regarding liquid masking and they seemed pretty easy but all of them are based on RC cars. Can they be apply on Gundam as well ?

MGS2U or TkTing is selling 2 types of MR Hobby liquid masking M-133 Mr.MASKING SOL R and M-132 Mr.MASKING SOL neo, what is their differences ?

any cheaper alternative to liquid masking other than cheapo masking tape because it is really a hassle for me to mask small areas with tapes

Thx u in advance notworthy.gif

Yea, you should pay RayLoke a visit at ICW. I went there today and I got a lot of tips and tricks from him, thxs Ray.

I also spent almost RM100 just to get the most basic modelling tools which would last me quite a while.

not sure, you can try, spray can should be lacquer, so you spray already then use lacquer thinner to thin it

doing this is a waste of money and time, get a paint bottle instead

i agree with admuser.

However, somehow some japanese actually do that. i think it's because when the spray can is less than half, usually the air pressure is insufficient to have a nice spray, they spray out what ever they can to use. Besides that, after letting all the air out, they even use can opener to open the spray can. 1) for environmental purposes. 2) they can even pour out whatever reamin inside that wasn't being carried out by the air.

I was trying to save a few quid on paint bottle because I already got gold and chrome spray cans. Thank you for the head up.

This is my recently built spray booth

next step is to add in some LED lights to light up the internal because there is not enough light going into the box.

There are some paint sticking to the fans' blades, maybe need faster fans to prevent it.

Comments are welcome.

guys,

i just used a Mr. Hobby lacquer thinner to wipe away the paint on Zeta's ankle and some of my putty had been wiped away by the lacquer thinner.

Do i need to re-putty again ? (I know lacquer thinner thins putty)

how do you find out whether the putty within the seamline still there after i wipe the part with lacquer thinner ?
