Hi all! Need some advice. I painted the beam rifle of my model kit with a thinned first layer of Tamiya Enamel Gun metal paint. After 24 hours, I try to paint it with the second layer. Problem is, when I painted the rifle, the first layer started to come off. Not sure if I should have waited longer that 24 hours or something else. Need your advice guys. Thanks!

Hi again guys. Need some advice again. I have some dilemma here. I'm painting my model kit by brush and I'm using tamiya enamel paint. Now, I've read that in order to eliminate the brush stroke marks on the parts, I need to thinned down the paint. I did that on the first layer. Now when I did the second layer, I thinned down my paint but the first layer is coming off. Parody here adviced me to use 2:8 or 3:7 parts for thinner and paint, so I try that, but now the paint is a bit thicker and the brush stroke is visible. Now I'm not sure how to proceed and what method do I need to follow. Need you expert opinion guys. Thanks in advance!

I'm using Tamiya Enamel Thinner. I really prefer the finish by enamel paint. Tamiya Enamel paint is much more convenient for me since I can easily buy this type of paint. And since I'm just using hand brush, it would be easier for me since enamel don't dry that quickly.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. I'll keep those in mind. Anyway, another question. Where can we find Zippo lighter fluid here? Planning to use this for panel line wash. Is it readily available in most hardware stores? Thanks! EDIT: Found zippo... This post has been edited by Madz.Madz: Jun 28 2011, 03:21 PM

I saw a Nippon Clear spray can (128) on Ace. Is this gloss or flat finish?

Just a question guys, what Tamiya Enamel color do you suggest to use for rust-like weathering?

QUOTE(Tiger I @ Jul 19 2011, 01:33 AM) I did bought the Krylon camo spray from ACE Hardware. Never tried it yet. Bought it because the green colour is nice. The camo spray comes in many camo colours Parody eg dark green, khaki etc, not myriads of colours in one can Oh I see. I thought it was already multiple colors in one can. Hahaha! I'm not even sure if that's possible. The label on the can seems to be misleading if you don't really read everything.

I went paint hunting this weekend. I'm actually planning on what color to paint my Sinanju. Now I got a Black Candy from Bosny. I'm going to try to do a Silver + Black Candy and see how will it look like. I'm actually trying to find a Clear Red can spray but didn't find any. Anyone knows where can I find a cheap one for this. Thanks!
Also, I saw a Metallic Clear Coat from Bosny. Has anyone tried using this? How does it look on a model kit?

I read before that Bosny have Flat top coat. I'm trying to find one but haven't find any yet. For gloss, you can try Bosny and Pylox. Bosny even have different top coat effect e.g. Gloss, Pearl, Metallic etc.
As for scratches, based on my experience, top coat can hide minor scratches and painting imperfections. I have some little bumps and brush stroke here and there on my kit after hand brushing. I was actually planning to redo the painting but decided not to. After spraying top coat, somehow those minor imperfections were hidden and some really obvious ones become a bit better.

Hmmmmm... I'm really not sure. Back in my home country in the Philippines, they do have them. Though really can't find any here. Better buy a lot when I go back there then.
What I find intriguing are those Bosny top coat that have different finishes. I would like to try one out one of these days, specially the Metallic top coat.

Yeah, I was surprised also. If I can remember correctly, the can indicated "Metallic Coat". Their top coat is labelled "Clear Coat" so I think the metallic one is also for top coating.
