Just got myself a CQ42-177TX for 2699. They said 3yrs warranty terms/conditions apply. Can someone explains what are the terms and conditions and any different from the 1 year?
And what different is the 32 bits and 64 bits OS things? not too familiar. vendor had not deliverd the good. can i ask for a 64 bits OS if it is better? This post has been edited by gentman: May 9 2010, 06:44 PM |

1 year international (plus local) warranty and 2 yrs local warranty.
32 bit - max ram recognised is 3.5g. Varies according to system setup. 177tx shld recognise 3gb (2.99gb to be bloody exact 64 bit - recognises infinite amt of ram lol (128gb if my brain doesnt fail me) depending on what u wanna do, 32bit is adequate for most of the daily uses. 64bit if u r a ram freak and wanted more out of ur system. u can upgrade it anytime to 64bit using win7 upgrade anytime. just a wee bit out of topic, u actually lost 1gb of physical ram in 177tx. however that reserved 1gb is used for addressing other issues which u wont get to see and touch. |

It didn't ask you to burn recovery on the first boot?
There should be apps on the start menu to burn the recovery, something like HP PC Recovery CD Creator.... |

and btw, ati definitely doesnt use any less power judging by the fact it is a dedicated gpu.
yes it needs 3 dvds. ur laptop is about 11-12gb used for win7. thus the amount. copies everything in ur windows in factory settings. part of hp cost savin is removing the option of providing oems softwares. and thus 'slightly' cheaper price, as so they claimed, which i dun exactly see it. |

Just got my CQ42-177TX today at DigitalMall. Still setting up with the softwares that I need to use it for. But the spec looks damn good. I think the screen is not as good as my previous Asus though....
