thanks for the reply and ur answer

. btw, it does mean if we (desire) could flash back to current stock rom (unrooted), we surely could claim our warranty as they cant check either the phone has been rooted or not ait? mind sharing opinions regarding this one?
btw, so envy that nexus one is the 1st phone to be seeing gingerbread vanilla UI which will hopefully PWN all custom UIs. +1 points to nexus one
There's something you need to understand. Warranty is void when you touch the bootloader. Since rooting requires you to unlock your bootloader, many people assume that rooting voids your warranty and unrooting the phone back will make it all OK and HTC wouldnt know a thing. That's not the case. The voiding part happens before the actual rooting when you manhandled your HBOOT in any ways. The bootloader, once unlocked cannot be re-locked. Although Desire users cannot actually see their bootloader status, HTC have their way of knowing. They will run a software integrity check of some sort on the phone your once you send it in for warranty claims. The ways to get around this are 1) to root without unlocking the bootloader which is only possible on the N1 2) Relock the bootloader. There is no way of doing that currently.
