most lauyar yixing pots now cost no less than 150. some buy pots for aesthetics, some buy for functional. for me, functional > aesthetics if u r not "investing".

went to the expo today. definitely more exhibitors that one in june and also more puerh oriented. i saw in 1 booth managed by a Chinaman and woman some Dayi tea which i think is fake. and their price is also quite steep compared to bigger tea houses.

QUOTE(Ratbert @ Dec 5 2013, 12:11 AM) Went to tea expo on the final day. Managed to get some nice Shui Xian and also a very good Dan Cong tea. what did u buy for 50%?managed to snap up both teas at 50% off listed retail price from diff stalls. And the teas to me were really good quality. so ya... no more tea shopping for me for a while...lol, still got stuff in my cupboard i need to clear first LOL one thing about this tea expo though, i felt it was like mostly regulars attending it due to the venue and location. not sure if many of the stalls get any first time customers there... Anyone spotted any good deals on pots there? |

QUOTE(ytc55 @ Jan 23 2014, 10:22 PM) Dear all sifus here, can I know Tacha kepong selling what kind of tea normally? I just wonder where is the best/good place to get the teapot n their accessories? Thank you in advance. I just started to drink tea. the kind of tea tacha kepong mainly sells is pu-erh. there are other teas too but maybe 5% of their collection.tacha's pu-erhs are "self-pressed" old tree. not factory stuffs like Dayi/Xiaguan. IIRC cheapest beeng is RM 120.00 |

QUOTE(ytc55 @ Jan 25 2014, 05:07 AM) very difficult to recommend one wor. the beauty of tea shops if u have a slightly thicker skin is ask then to show your their wares.if your're new to pu-erh and would like to taste the "dayi/menghai signature taste", then i'd probably recommend "dayi menghai's spring" (menghai zi cun). get something 7-8 yrs old. |

QUOTE(andyng38 @ Mar 2 2014, 05:26 PM) I am not a tea expert...hope you all can advise me on this tea I bought. Went to a Chinese medicine hall and asked the owner for a recommendation for a mid-priced tea that is tasty and cooling. He suggested the one in the photo below. I bought it and tried it out...the tea is vacuum-packed. It has a nice scent and a pleasant aftertaste. Any opinions? I am also open to suggestions of teas around the RM50/box range. Thanks! hello andyng38, afaik, oolong type of tea is considered "cooling". there are many styles within oolong, like tie guan yin, dan coong and shui shien. rm 50/box can usually get u decent consumer grade tea. try visiting tea merchants near you to understand more about tea. i usually settle for 3-5 tea tasting to buy 1 tea. ![]() |
