It will last at least 8 over months smile.gif The last update to the MBP line was in June last year when they introduced 13" MBP..

Added on April 15, 2010, 12:03 pmThanks for the input on ACPP, I guess I'll just go ahead getting it directly from the AppleStore. The news on fake ACPP really made me nervous .. Apple will say, as long as the code is valid, then shouldn't be a problem .. but if there is a conflict, someone claiming the same code and we don't have the serial number and proof of purchase .. then poof .. waste the RM .. ACPP for MBP is a bit over RM1K.
*
don't think so..now mac already have the now i5 and i7 for the mbp 15 and 17

this is debatable... compatibility is very important for group projects n reports. i stick with microsoft office... 2010 even tongue.gif
*
this is actually very subjective..i agree with dvlzplayground..because most of the uni is using windows..therefore using iwork might be some problems in converting the format..but in terms of function which is better?

when you said a lot, can you give a number of macs that you've seen personally that experienced the problem you mentioned above. Or do you based this from what you've read?
*
well..personally not really, because i don't really know a lot people who use mac..but i seen all these probs in apple byte here..i seen a few people that they have to send back the shipment and wait for few weeks for replacement and stuff..wouldn't it be troublesome?

Its just advisable to do battery calibration after unboxing but of course its not compulsory. Yea normally people is advise to perform periodically calibration like once a month or once in 2 months like what goliath said...
*
actually what really is the calibration and what is the use for that?? and i seen from many users here they having the prob of batt shown 98% even though its fully charge and all.how come?

Like I said its not a must or compulsory... its up to the user... I did mine was to double calibrate it since Ive downloaded coconut battery and my capacity was at 99%. Was weird so decided to calibrate it... Im not sure about apple but other computers they do instruct ppl do calibrate their batteries like charging for certain amount of hours before using etc...
*
can i know what is coconut batt?

Yea most ppl just get it online instead of calling the sales representative.... You can refer to this thread for more info on MBPs... there are tons of questions asked here..
*
actually i just wonder why ppl just order online?? wouldn't it be easier to just go straight to the store and get it because i am sure there is a mac store in all the shopping mall around the corner. and it will be more secure where u can check your things on the spot. If u wanna customize then maybe order online is better

QUOTE(wei @ May 15 2010, 04:27 PM)
Here's my view of not buying from local outlets:

1) Most of the time when you walked into store, they might not have stock for it.

2) Then you have to go to the mall, parking, jam etc.

3) Then you have to lug the packaging around the mall advertising to everyone "hey I got a brand new Mac here"... Target for next theft? U tell me.

4) Not everyone is buying a small Mac, what if they buy a iMac 27" or MBP17"? It's not easy to lug that around the mall.

5) Often the sales rep will open your unit prior hand over to you (for setup, registration or any reason). It's not "brand new" anymore, technically.

6) Lastly, most of them here, i can see order online using education discount, be it eligible for it or not.

Order online shipped to your door steps, wrap in brown box before the actual packaging. So why not?

One more thing, until today, non of the local store worth spending my blood and sweat money.
*
i agree that u trying to mean order online is much more easier and convinient but the only thing is if ur unit has prob then u have to send back again and wait another dunno how many days. where else in the store u can change right away( if they have stock)

for brand new units, the price are same. resellers like epicentre, machines etc sometimes can throw in some freebies for you (normally keyboard protector, cheapo sleeve, cooling balls) or maybe got good purchase tie-ins offers, but very rare lah. if u're a student or work in the education sector, u can get education discount but only from the online store.

oh the education discount is still going on?? can i know how to apply it and how much cheaper? pls

Yup updated price. It uses Geforce 320M and features 10 hours of battery too. Used to be RM3299 with edu price, now RM3099 with edu price. RM500 differences with the entry level MacBook Pro if compared with edu price.
*
i tot the basic MBP for 2.4 now is 3899 but with edu price is 3599 or something? its just 300 difference

Of course there are differences for that RM500 and this is a quote from nimrod

RM500 increase and what it entails:
this is what get for MBP
- external battery indicator
- infrared sensor for apple remote
- SD card slot
- FW800
- Aluminium case wont get scratches easily compared with glossy plastic case
- backlit keyboard
- More rigid and strong compared to plastic
- higher grade panel
- no discolouring white to yellow
- Lighter MBP
- up to 8GB memory

So MBP clearly is a better choice for the RM500 difference...
*
and also the multi touch pad and better resolution of the screen. actually there is also huge difference for the processor, and HD and also graphic card

Correct, anything under the hood can be for Mac (so far for me). Just need to reformat it. I'm using the normal essential and it works fine
Some ppl maybe don't want to know the underlying work and just prefer to plug and play perhaps. Tonnes of reason smile.gif
*
i see..reformat as in?? means the file inside will be gone then?? i tot that mac can read almost everything?

Yes, if you are in the US and goes to college. Otherwise, you'll have to order from the respective Apple Online store of your country.
For malaysia , it's http://store.apple.com/my

OR you can try one of the many Apple resellers ... dunno whether they'll give you a free ipod touch with your macbook purchase.
*
is it eligible in malaysia for this promotion?

It is not available in malaysia apple store... It is only available if you are in the US (maybe a few other countries)and of course a college student in a uni/college that is listed in the list at the apple website... You can ask your relatives to purchase one if he is attending college/uni and is listed in apple store US...

it is such a pity they dont have it in malaysia..if yea i will really buy it

Apple suggest you use the battery at least once a weeks. Don't use till finish, use around 50% to make the ion move. Then every 1 or 2 months calibrate the battery. Calibrate steps,

1 - Use until the battery drain - until laptop shutoff itself.
2 - Leave the laptop around 5-6 hours.
3 - Recharge the battery until full.

Forget where I found this but it's from apple itself.

thanks man..! because i was wondering..as for my vaio.. i just plug the adapter all the time with the batt inside..and after sometime the batt has prob..it only last like half an hour..which is not normal..so i just wondering will this situation happen for mac
