QUOTE(cyberwiz @ Apr 30 2010, 08:16 AM)
dang i m pretty certain my macbook pro cant last beyond 4 hours ... its far from 10 hours...

i attached the coconut stats though i cant tell if it has any sign of battery problem but a forumer ask for it..

and i m using my laptop for normal browsing with wifi... not running some videos in fact..

i hope i m not expecting too much cause i have much lighter vaio with same power horse running 8 hours easily.

i m just really wondering am i having a faulty battery or am i doing something wrong somewhere...

smile.gif

thanks

-Vince

Not sure if this helps but play around with the brightness perhaps as I think you may already have the setting for maximum battery life in preference. I still got those 7-8hours mark. What I normally do
1) Make sure no dvd/cd in drive
2) Not turning on bt
3) Play around with brightness
4) Calibrate approximately every month
5) Keyboard backlit for mbp turned off

Try play around with the brightness and see if it help to prolong it as it should be
My brightness is set to 75% and calibrate it on a monthly basis. BUT, i do run iTunes at the background. Roughly 4 hours to 4.5 hours. No backlit for MB White, and i prefer to use Chrome now though smile.gif

static,
try to run with rightness set to 50% and not running itunes in background and just use chrome for one day. see if it helps. plus you are using wifi or cable? if wifi how's the wifi signal? optimum or low?
*
I will try that in a month, to calibrate it. Usually if i bring my MB out to cafe (to watch F1 ... hehe), then my brightness will set to about 50% and no iTunes playing. Just wifi.

Since i calibrate it mostly at home, i set it to 75%, and I always have iTunes playing at the background though. Bad habit of mine, just love music wink.gif. My wifi signal is optimum. I have ditched FF and using Chrome now.

System Fan will shoot up to 4000RPM instead of 2000RPM if you play CAFEWORLD for 15min !!!

CPU temperature will rise from 30C to 70C too.... I know this is not a hardware problem, it is ADOBE's problem
*
I've stopped playing FarmVille for the same reason. After 15 mins of FV-ing, temperature shoot to 75C... ohmy.gif

Ugh, new MBW only RM3299, and the previous unibody's price is gonna drop. I bought mine earlier this year ... SIGH.

Anybody knows the new price for the old unibody MBW?

*disappointed*

I agree on that too.... Thats why people should not rush and do some research before actually buying the item. Ive been researching on Macbook for almost 2 months before actually purchasing it...

@static Eh you going to get another MBW or you just wanna compare the price between the new and old...
*
I did my research, but price drop wasn't that significant though. Well, maybe that RM500 is just too much for me. I am getting the MBW for my niece though, and i checked the price, it's RM3099.

ah please get over yourself you have been using the MBW for almost 5 months now, imagine the DELL users who have to face the weekly or monthly model refreshes. Technology changes that doesnt mean your MBW suddenly cant perform  because of a newer machine or the people who buy nokia phones, theres a few models every month. Technology products depreciate never appreciate and thats a fact.
*
Oh wow, why so serious? I was just merely saying I am disappointed with the price difference when I first bought it, and the revised price few months later. Of course I know the price would depreciate.

Take a chill pill. laugh.gif

ah says the person who is frustrated by the revised pricing. if you notice my reply was merely directing to your price argument,if you knew the reasons for the depreciation you wouldnt be *disappointed* now would you? tongue.gif
*
Taken mine dy nod.gif . Well, don't we all always get disappointed when the items we bought depreciate so fast tongue.gif

Looks quite nice. How much you got it for? Does your MB has any protective casing/hard case? I have a hardcase, so some sleeves cannot fit MB+Case sad.gif

ohmy.gif  can you explain on why you said that the 13" is more suited for me? you're answer is quite... general  wink.gif
*
You mentioned portability (which means size, leans toward 13"), and you're a uni student, so probably cash strapped? Don't have to get 15" so big. Unless you're willing to pay more, I don't see any problem with 15" other than size.

I only used ColorEyes and Spyder 2 express, never tried with the Spyder 3 Elite. You are facing issues?

I think my uncle used ColorEyes to calibrate my mac. Roundish. Not sure what it's called.

Any HDD will work , 2.5" SATA that is

Anyway i found a neat tool for those who wanna get more of their hybrid MacBook Pro graphics (9600GT/9400GT or 330M/Intel). There is this tool which allows you to switch on the fly (even for 9600gt/9400gt , no more logout/login) . Its called gfx card status , i got it and its working great

http://codykrieger.com/gfxCardStatus/

Some neat find

When my MBP is on Intel graphics

[attachmentid=1688966]
When my MBP is using nVidia Graphics. It seems that its able to output sound via HDMI , notice Audio Device - nVidia

My temperature is always around 65C to 75C for both my MB white and MB Pro 13. Hmmm.

spot on, i'm using the plug-only since is long enough for us. using the extended power plug seems to solve the problem.

thanx, but really nothing can be done if i still prefer to use the plug only version?
*
I had that problem too, solved by using the extended rclxms.gif

How do you print things in black and white? I tried googling but I still cant manage to do it. Tried the grayscale method but I dont have that menu. Anyone could help me?

Another thing. I have s a 2 slides per page pdf file. I want to print it in a 4 slides per page portrait mode. Everytime I change it into 4 slides per page in settings, it will automatically change it to landscape. can anyone help me on this?
*
When you print, there is an option for you to choose color/grayscale? I think you can set it in your printer settings once you click print.

^ congrats! good choice smile.gif

MBP display is really good. i think it's silly to do photo editing on a sub-par display like most pc laptops have
*
I guess most laptops these days are up to par with MBs to do photo editing, it's all about preferences.
