Hello, I have a few questions. I see that the prices of Macbooks in Malaysia are much cheaper than in the States or in Canada since Malaysians don't have to pay for an extra 13% (GST & PST) and after conversion, I still find it very tempting. So I'm thinking of getting my hands on one of those but before buying it, I need to know a few stuff. I'm in the middle of end of year exams so I can't google the answers and I really hope you guys could answer my few not so tough questions.

First, does it come with an international warranty? (If anything happens can I get it fixed in North America?)

What about the ACPP Plan? If I get it does it prolong the warranty internationally or just, locally?

And, do I need to pay anything extra than the prices shown on Apply MY website?

What must I have to be eligible to get them off the web at student price?

Thanks in advance!

@mannquin

Just get it from Malaysia apple store... Education price shouldnt be a problem and saves up to RM300.... You can even ask for your credit card bank to fofer you installment (make sure call up the bank to verify 1st)...

The ACPP you can get it now or you can wait till almost the end of your 1 year acpp to get it... Most of the users here get it at the end of their 1 year... But make sure that you remember.. If not there will be no more chance to upgrade it to another 2 more years =D

Since you are talking about exams, Im sure you are a student and no worries about the terms and agreements... Just go ahead and get one now! LOL like an apple promoter... I should work at apple retailer stores...

Thanks guys, gonna buy soon! I'm so sick of my HP tx2500. The heat problem it gives me is just unbearable.
I hope Apple won't disappoint me this time.

I never thought it would transfer both audio and video. So that means it's basically a HDMI port, disguised in that Mini Display name and shape. VGA and DVI only transfer video as far as I know.
What a surprising discovery smile.gif

Someone's gonna come in here and suggest that you visit the Apple Store MY or Google/Yahoo/ do a search for it.
Maybe in the process you might even get some harsh comments.

Before that happens, why not just pop over to Apple Online Malaysia and check it out for yourself?

Already did that, and found none so far. I might be wrong tho cause the site might be dated. That's why I humbly inquired about it here. Thanks anyway

Hey guys, I need some opinions on this matter. I found this one guy on this one popular website. He told me sometimes once every two months he gets a $2000 Apple Gift Card and usually spend it on buying Macbooks and sell it and he claims that he's been doing that for quite a while. I didn't ask from where did he get the card tho my head keeps questioning who on earth would be getting that much of Gift Card. I've faith in him and we're gonna meet up tomorrow.

He offered me a brand new and sealed Macbook 15 core i5 2.4 GHz for a price of RM4800

The other offer is, an opened box Macbook 17 core i7 for RM5600

I'm more inclined to the i7 but the problem is, I fear there is something wrong with it and I'd prefer new stuff if possible not used ones but the price is hard to resist
They both come with a proof of purchase and was bought a week ago as he mentioned.

So my concerns are,

1) Is there any possibility that those are stolen units? (because the prices are just too good to be true but they come with a receipt)
2) For the i7, what's the worst problem could I be facing up to a point the warranty won't cover it?

Provided that my budget is just nice for the i7, and I can't afford a new one with a regular price, if you guys were in my shoes which one do you think I should grab?
Any advice on what I should check, compare, examine, etc?

Just got myself a brand new Macbook Pro 15" 2.4GHz Core i5 biggrin.gif
I'm glad I switched to Mac. Had been a Windows user for almost a decade
And I got a free iPod Touch as well. Enjoying it to the max!

Oh ya I wanna sell the iPod. If anybody's interested just give me a shout

Edit: Any accessories to recommend? Already bought a silicon case for my keyboard that actually 100% resembles the original one and an Incase Neoprene Sleeve

if u r not using any hard cases for ur mbp, i would strongly recommend the MOSHI palmguard (it also comes with the trackguards). the material used is exceptionally great or could i just say its just simply amazing. its like a thin layer of metal and it do feels very good when u rest on it  laugh.gif

p/s: i'm using a speck seethru satin for my mbp n the palmguard is NOT advisable as it is not compatible anymore with the case unless u do a little  modification to the palmguard yourself. the case actually pushes the palmguard out of where its supposed to sit when u clip it on.

What's with the hard case? I thought the metal enclosure is sufficient to protect it from any damages? And wouldn't it make the macbook look bulky just like cell phones in those plastic cases? Am now considering Bodyguardz.

I'm a little bit confused here. Why are some of you suggesting to charge it up right after you unbox it?
What if someone gets if directly from the Apple Store and unboxes it, setting it up with the help from those technicians.
Wouldn't it spoil the battery lifespan/capacity whatever it is since the ritual of charging 8-12-hour-before-use is not followed?
Could someone please clarify me about this matter?

I bought the Macbook i5 without upgrading its screen to the matte type because it just uglifies its look.
But now I'm having this common problem everyone is facing that is, difficulties in using it under direct light.

So now I'm just curious where can I find an anti glare screen protector for this beast? I'm using the i5 15inch FYI.

I've already did some research I would like to opt for a screen protector from ClearCal because of its good reputation and its effectiveness.
The problem is, I couldn't find it even when I was in the states.

Do you guys know where in Malaysia can I get it? Or any recommendations from other brands?

Hmm I don't know why, my Macbook is like constantly producing electrostatic charges if it being put on any flat surface.
I tried lifting it and only when it's tilted at certain angles it produces no more.

Some say it isn't properly grounded but I already tried using the 3 pin wall charger and it still doesn't work.
Do you guys have any idea what's going on?
