i hav a problem starting my 2008/9 MBW and i hope some one can help me on this problem

i recently change the stock 160GB HDD to a 320GB WD HDD (5400RPM) and successfully installed Snow Leopard

after using for a week, when i turn on the MBW, i got a grey screen with a "big folder icon" inside the folder icon ,a question mark keep flashing

1) could it be tat the HDD is not suitable for this MBW?
2) compared to my stock HDD( Hitachi) which hav the Apple logo, this WD Scorpio Blue HDD does not hav the apple logo, is it compatible wif Apple?

wat would you guys advice me to do?

thanks in advance

HMM, well you could try to boot through your Mac OS disc to see if the HDD is still mounted, try to repair permission and inspect the disk under disk utility, it could be a faulty drive IMHO.

yes, i did exactly wat u adviced, but the disk utility of the SL DVD did not detect any HDD present at all, doh.gif

could be a faulty disk then, rivert back to the old HDD just to make sure the HDD connector ribbon is okay, if thats okay then return back teh HDD, comparatively my gf uses the scorpio blue 500GB on her MBP 13 with no problem, its way over a year now.
*
this model dun hav the connector ribbon, i juz nid to push in the HDD fr the battery bay, the HDD is fastened to a bracket wif a "pull out tape"
it will lock in place wif a small push........

thanks

i think he meant try plugging in the stock HDD juz to make sure the connection is okay, so we only have to worry about the specific HDD

if the stock drive works, then faulty hdd lah. back to the shop and get an exchange smile.gif

*
but the stock drive spoilt and tats why i buy this HDD to replace the spoilt drive sweat.gif

anyway, i will bring this newly bought HDD back to the seller and see wat he says abt it

btw, is there any HDD specifically for a MacBK ?

thx

Is the a particular reason why you didn't use Bootcamp for the installation?

Have you tried installing the drivers off of the Leapord/Snow Leapord install disk (assuming you have one)?
*
the reason why i din install thr Bootcamp was tat i read tat via Bootcamp, Win7 performance will some wat be laggy sweat.gif

i hav the ori Snow Leopard disk, can i juz extract the Bluetooth and Webcam driver into my Mac Win7?
if Yes, how to do it?

thanks
