i wasted 2 pieces of dvd creating the recovery files when the program suddenly failed almost at the end of finalizing disc 2 of 3 =.=" i dun think i will keep the junks, will do a clean format and repartition everything. these things will just get outdated in time and i dun think u guys use outdated stuffs either...

btw, i got mine for 3550 with installment (with the default phone free gift only)...

carrying bag?? dont get?
*
yeah, with the bag as well... btw, good choice bro (... so far la), i've been eyeing for a laptop for quite some time. from c2d to i7, from i7 to i5, from dell ati 4000 series to 5000 (still at 5470), from i5-520m to i5-540m, and lastly i gave up waiting for sxps to refresh their gpus... but i also know with this spec, they won't settle if without chopping us customers 4.5k at least...

QUOTE(synz @ Apr 18 2010, 12:35 AM)
how about the drivers? if the lenovo junks cleared, the touch key still working?
*
i'm not sure... it's a risk though... anyone have any idea?

QUOTE(jotaro12 @ Apr 18 2010, 12:35 AM)
If you're using normal DVDRs that might affect the outcome. Try use branded ones like Mitsubishi, Imation, or Sony.
*
did u managed to create the recovery discs?

QUOTE(miahahaha @ Apr 18 2010, 12:38 AM)
So, how is the heat for this laptop?? Reasonable?? or just plain hot sweat.gif..need some feedback as my friend want to get one smile.gif
*
the heat is the 1st thing i notice when i on the notebook for the first time. it's very noticeable compared to my old buddy. but then again, heat is not a problem to me because i don't buy notebook for the coolness. it is supposed to do what it is meant to do (that is to be your working slave), so don't need to go cracking your head over it.

QUOTE(jotaro12 @ Apr 18 2010, 12:43 AM)
The touch recovery system should work like this: press recovery button ----> 3 options available, System Backup, System Recovery and Creative Recovery Disc ----> select system recovery -----> reboot system into recovery mode which is inside the OEM recovery partition, if you've re-format/Clean/Delete your HDD, then you'll get an error during rebooting system since recovery partition is gone.
did you get that error before?

btw, i pull off all the promotional stickers on the keypad... very fugly previously and now it looks as good as you see in the websites smile.gif

I have extended my warranty to 3 years carry-in. For consumer series laptop they don't offer on-site unless you have thinkpad/business class series laptop. The screen is fine on me, nothing to shout about.
*
how much for the extended warranty? i also thinking to get it. btw, did you have any skinning on your y460? i think it would get scratchy scratchy if not careful.

i just did a reformat to my y460... reconfiguring the partitions... just a slight problemo... the slidenav don't seem to work even after installing the driver. the rest of it works just fine... but i didn't bother about the onekey recovery though since someone said it wun work without the reserved oem partition.

me too have a lil bit of typo error with the keyboard thingy... would need to apply a bit more pressure to it to get it "typed".

btw, to those who are looking for the best mid-range spec laptop (price:spec ratio), y460 is the one to go for. no questions ask, you will not regret it. heat wise, you can live with it as we all have.

can i get y460 with DOS only? then i buy the retail windows 7 myself? lol

downloading windows7 is a pain in ass @@
*
hmm... from what i have surveyed in the past (just 1week+ ago), y460 seems to come with win7hp, compulsory... leaving no options for freedos. topup for ultimate seems impossible too. if you already have a win7u, you can transfer it to your laptop tho, by changing the key after you reinstall.

no, I dont have the win7 CD, but since the laptop does not come with the win7 disc, doing a clean install of windows7 will be a pain in ass since i need to download win7 myself, and burn it into DVD ma (download 4gb ++ leh)

so if ada shipped with DOS, i can beli win7 myself that comes with CD lo, easier for me to format @@
unless someone can teach me how to backup the OS itself nia? without all the junkware then good la  flex.gif  flex.gif
*
i uh, also downloaded my copy of win7 after failing to create the recovery disc (killed 2 pieces of dvd there). but i did reinstall some of the junks for the touch buttons... lolz

sigh....i am downloading now liao...prepare when i get my lappie lol (although still havent decide yet )

btw, do i need to download the drivers? or i can find it inside my lappie?
*
hmm... i would say y460 is a good buy if you're really in need of a laptop now. the things that comes with it is pretty standard and some desirable (e.g. hdmi, bluetooth, switchable graphics, i5-i540, ati hd5650). only thing that might put you off is the 500gb (5000rpm), 1.3mp webcam, could-be-better keyboard).

about the drivers, it's best that you download... dun be so malas to download... i also spent quite a no. of days understanding the laptop.

btw, i applied lcd screen guard (rm14) and failed with some bubble trapped (due to last minute dust getting inside). had to scratch the bubble out and the lcd screen guard pun look like scratched... =.=" i wonder the film can be removed and how??? rclxub.gif

i also diy'ed a palm skin from the transparent film (slightly adhesive) used to protect new printers' shiny parts. just cut the shape and hide the uneven cuts into the edges of the keyboard. a good temporary solution to keep the laptop from scratches.

u mean skin cover, bought one but because it was my first time  doh.gif , it wasn't successful so i removed it due to some air bubbles inside it wasn't attractive. besides i already have a cleaning kit. and it looks more beautiful without the skin.

so decided to leave it as it is.
*
i mean those transparent films to stick on the whole body, not just the lid. those colour colour ones, not my cup of tea... you not afraid to scratch the laptop meh? but yea, i took care of my 6yrs old laptop, until now it is very nice in the looks, minimal scratches... it's just that the y460 is kinda glossy... so not quite sure if i can maintain it nicely...
