Thanks for the recommendation. Actually when bro @Everdying reco :thrunite TT10, it got me thinking into having a unit with external battery.

I like TIP2, compact and not so expensive.
TUP, is slightly expensive but something nicer to have. But I am wondering if it is really suitable on cap, looks big.

So I have set myself a budget of RM200 to find a replacement for my TIP.
- Must be able to clip on cap.
- Mid mode around 50 lumen.
- Distance of 50m is more than enough.
*

Yeah, slightly bigger than the TIP for sure.

As powerbank, as charger (leech from another friends/hikers actual powerbank:lol:) and as lantern. Currently using NiteCore HC30 as headlamp & Fenix PD32 as lantern (with cloth type lantern attachment from NatureHike)
To illuminate camping area. Having headlamp on my head the entire night when camping kinda annoying though. Headlamp is good when you have task to focus on or when you need to go far away from campsite to shit etc but for general lounging at camp, lantern is the better option.

Ahhh.... to illuminate camping area. biggrin.gif
I thought you wanted it inside your tent.

I'm probably replying a question that has been answered but I'm no fan of headlight on other people despite how useful it is.
Those people just don't realize they're blinding me when they try to see me. Especially when they own any 1000lm headlamps and run them 100% all the time killing battery.

Lantern for them newbies to hang around is more pleasant to the eyes rather than having a high beam fest laugh.gif
Or in my case just use torchlight with diffuser

Maybe camping veterans will be more disciplined. Technicians like me just gets blinded all the time

Happens to all camping kaki when the person you're talking to doesn't shield their headlamp. laugh.gif

that was one of my primary concerns before i decided to pull the trigger. the s2r ii was a very very close contender but it also uses customised batteries. so on that note, they both tied. klarus loss out on runtime since s2r ii had 3200 mah batteries compared to klarus' measly 2600 mah batteries (they really should have provided for a 3600mah option) and is that wee bit longer with the clicky switch... but its also that clicky switch that won me over. the klarus also looks sleek with its mild knurling compared to the the s2r ii's chunky knurling, but i suppose that's a personal preference (admittedly, the grip isn't great when paired with the clicky switch... but it's enough).  sweat.gif

Agreed on both torchlight are that close.

Klarus paddle switch is really unique! thumbsup.gif

And yeah, Klarus should have given a better battery than the included 2,600mAh. doh.gif grumble.gif

akan datang... the i1r2 eos. what i find strange is that although it pushes 20l more, it seems to be a downgrade from its predecessor in the sense that:

(i) smaller battery capacity (70mah vs 80mah);
(ii) lesser throw (40m v 54m)
(iii) lesser light intensity (400cd v 730cd)
(iv) less stamina (@ max 15m v 20; @ 5l 6h v 7h)
(v) fractionally heavier (13g v 5g)
(vi) fractionally bigger

so what gives???  confused.gif

(waiting for rookiedaddy's enlightenment)

Personally never own one but if you are getting one, just don't lose the tailcap nipple.
Or to be safe never open the tailcap as the switch will just fall apart.

I wanted to get one but I had enough triples in my collection. sweat.gif

sharing here for your references... these are my own testing results, all cables are bought from retail shops or online retailers...

the lower the reading, the better (which means it can potentially charges faster). the results are only testing the cable impedance, not durability in usage.

I'm surprised that the Aukey gold plated has lower charging than the normal Aukey non-plated cable. shocking.gif

it's probably manufacturing tolerances difference in this case but in hifi world where they go nuts bout conductivity, gold is lower than copper in conductivity where silver still taking the lead laugh.gif

So means majority of high end Hi-Fi cables have copper cores? hmm.gif shocking.gif

Nice! I haven't got an ED2 but when I first started working after graduation, I asked an ex special forces colleague what torch should I use, he answered, "if your life depends on it, Surefire."

Honestly I've used these for night time shooting, camping and abused them quite heavily at work. I have Surefire Saint Minimus I've used at work on site for many years, even after hitting steel and concrete has functioned super well.

Oh yah... also have an old E1e and G3D. whistling.gif
True on the bolded parts. Both my E1e and ED2 were used without mercy. And still functions well till today.

E1e is using the old incandescent bulb.
Originally wanted to mod it to LED but didn't happen. Lol... doh.gif lol.gif

Not sure why I bought the G3D though. Underused. doh.gif tongue.gif lol.gif
