7-4-2010 Submit new application for TM Homeline and Streamyx, both under my name.
8-4-2010 TM contractors came to my house and installed the new TM Homeline. At night I called to 100 service line and been told that 10th April the Streamyx contractor will come and do the installation for me.
10-4-2010 Called to 100 service line again and get the latest status from them. Been informed that Encik Rahman is the installer and got his handphone number. Called to that handphone number, Encik Rahman nicely explained to me that today he can't make it because he have to come to my house to do some upgrading in order to get 4MB, and some people not working today so that he can't do the service for me. He will contact me again in the coming Tuesday to do the installation and upgrading. He also admitted that the order form that under my name and MIPS order name is now in his hand so no worry.

Better get the real information through the TM Point, that's the most accurate, but some are not.

My new homeline is installed with normal telephone line as we can see outside our home, not fiber optic if I'm not mistaken. According to them, my area have 4MB.

You may try because my college and my university name is not in their list, but now I got my approval already. I registered under my KDU College name, along with college chop, IC and student card are verified with school chop and signed, every running smooth.

That is how I do to the TM peoples every time. Now I already have the contractor name and contact number, so anything I will just call that contractor.

Anyway I got different information here, I heard that the 4MB is RM88 include the monthly phone rental RM25. While for mine, I have double confirm with the service counter girl and also asked for a piece of paper to write down how much I need to pay in the next step.

TM Homeline deposit - RM75
Stamp duty - RM10
1st Month Bill - RM25 phone rental + RM1 bill postal + RM88 x2 months.

Which one is correct?

How about I got the answer from the TM Point that is "Yes", saying that my area have 4MB support, and will they check either my house is capable to offer the speed or not even during installation?

That one is some kind of Combo package form, anyway you can use that too. As long as you inform the people at the counter that you are applying for CoolUniPack and they will key into system for you.

By the way I'm worry that on the day he come and do the installation then tell me that my house not supporting 4MB, then I have to head back to TM Point to reapply again.

Last few days my SNR on my old line was 21 and now drop 14 because I finally disconnect from my 3 months old IP, and the SNR drop too =.=

About the new line still not sure yet, not yet do testing.

13-4-2010 Streamyx technician came to me home and received bad news from him, but learned new knowledge, story goes below:

384kbps, 512kbps and 1mbps are using ADSL_G.dmt port, which is different from higher package. Packages such as 2mbps, 4mbps or higher are using ADSL 2+ port. Even you can get 15 above SNR for your ADSL_G.dmt port, there's no gurantee for you that you can get 15 above SNR for your ADSL 2+ port. Just like my case, my ADSL_G.dmt port can get 22db to 29db SNR at any time. While switch to new TM Homeline that is running ADSL 2+ and capped at 5mbps, my SNR goes down to 9db, which is really bad and cannot support 4mbps. To support 4mbps, you must have at least => 15db of SNR and =< 40db Attenuation. So even the TM point service people tell you that your area can support 4mbps, you still have to go to the 2nd level of checking, that will be done by the Streamyx technician.

Now I am suspecting that my new TM Homeline is having problem in between the copper line and the phone post in front of my house. Already called the contractor and tomorrow they will come and have a look at the phone post, then do the fixing. I just hope after the fixing, I can get 15db and above for my SNR so that I can install 4mbps.

Certify your IC and student card is better, they don't need to call or check anything like me. I certified both document and I get the Streamyx technician to me within 3 days.

Yes, they do accept the certified photocopy IC. They never ask for my real IC when I submit my certified photocopy IC.

The problem is, the certified photocopy IC is your own or other?

That one I'm not sure. But then if you are applying for something, owner of that application must attend.

I didn't submit offer letter to them, I only submitted the certified photocopy of my IC and student card.

I guess they don't even check I'm actually 1st year or 2nd year student, few days later I already got my Streamyx technician phone number and name.

You just pretend photo copy IC and your student card, then get your school chop and certification. Straight submit to them, they won't ask that much and give yourself more confident, should be okay.

No, you can't do that. Account cap is means your xxx@streamyx.com, it will be capped at 4Mbps in their system, under account section. While for ADSL cap, they just do some configuration on your telephone line and cap it at 5Mbps at your telephone line so that you only can achieve 4Mbps above bandwidth. This is because Streamyx will always lost at least 25% of bandwidth of what you subscribe, that's why people request higher cap in order to get full speed.

Normally 1Mbps package they will cap 1.5Mbps for you, for 2Mbps probably they will cap 3Mbps, while for 4Mbps then they will cap at 5Mbps.

Bear in mind, account cap and ADSL cap are different thing.

The answer is NO. Technician will never take control of the Streamyx system, they only can call back to the center and ask the people at there to do the caption. Also only can do ADSL cap for you, not account cap. Account cap is base on what package you are subscribing, for the example 1Mbps then it's 1Mbps, but ADSL cap they make it 1.5Mbps for you in order to reach full speed, get what I mean? If you want to change account cap, then you will have to pay more. In other words, it is also called as "upgrade" your package.


The modem that shows downstream data rate are ADSL cap, if it shows there 1024kbps means they cap 1Mbps for you and I guess the speedtest will not reach 1Mbps, I'm not sure.

Yes, you will have another new TM Homeline, another new number of course. I am going for this step in order to get the Streamyx installation faster.

That's the shortest way, might be successful or might be fail.

The guarantee way is to call up to 100 and complain to them. Remember! Ask for ADSL cap, not account cap.
