Dermatologist that I recommend (however not in Subang area, in Damansara)

1.
Dr Tan Lay Peng (Female)
Klinik LP Tan
11, Jalan Wan Kadir 2
Taman Tun Dr. Ismail
60000 Kuala Lumpur
Tel: 03-7728-1733

Rating: ***** (5/5)
Price: $$$$ (4/5)
Summary: Dr Tan is a very experienced Dermatologist, and gives no non-sense advice for skin problems. Very good in solving skin problems. However, her consultation is on a more pricey side, but it's worth it. Her clinic is not that crowded (probably due to it's pricey consultation).

2.
Dr Koh Chuan Keng (Male)
Koh Skin Specialist Clinic
5M, Jalan SS21/1A
Damansara Utama
47400 Petaling Jaya
Tel: 03-7725-8437
Fax: 03-7725-8439

Rating: ***** (5/5)
Price: $$$$ (4/5)
Summary: Dr Koh is also a very experienced Dermatologist (family run business), very kind and understanding doctor. Always call to make appointment because his clinic is very full most of the time (even on weekdays!).

3.
Dr Ranjit Singh (Male)
Klinik Pakar Kulit Ranjit
C4, Jalan SS15/4D
47500 Subang Jaya
Petaling Jaya
Tel: 03-5631-6090
Fax: 03-5637-1610

Rating: ***** (5/5)
Price: $$$ (3/5)
Summary: Dr Ranjit is one of the well known skin specialist in Subang area (this interest you smile.gif ). You MUST make appointment with him because his clinic is always FULL every single day.

Added on April 8, 2010, 1:34 pmI personally also suffer from ance and oily problem.

I start to use Origins Check and Balance cleanser and my acne did reduce.

To reduce acne scars on my forehead, I went to do Chemical Peeing at Koh's Skin Specialist (RM130 per session at that time). It somehow did make the skin smoother. But because the scars are too old, not fresh, it can't be ridded completely 100%.

I also use a very good acne treatment - Dalacin T to treat pimples. You just need to press the solution tip on the acne and it's done! Try to ask from the dermatologist that you're seeing, do check with him if it's suitable for you.

About oily skin, I find it hard to control it. I used Origins Oil Refiner and A Perfect World Toner or Oily skin, but it didn't help much. I did Charcoal facial mask every week also didn't help. I still stick to using a oil blotter about every 3 hours to remove excess oil on my face.

How Dalacin T packaging looks like (You can get it in Pharmacy as well)

1. please be aware of the difference between a dermatologist and an aesthetic medicine doctor.

a dermatologist is a skin specialist. look for his basic degree,.ie, MD or MBBS or MBBCH BAO. next look for the post grad degree,i.e., MRCP OR FRCP. a dermatologist can also have lasers or other aesthetic treatment.

an aesthetic medicine doctor is just a GP with a diploma in aesthetic medicine or diploma in skin/derm. this diploma helps the GP with more knowledge of skin diseases. these type of GPs might only practise normal GP work or might only concentrate on aesthetic medicine. they are not allowed to call themselves specialists, most don't.

dr christina is one such doctor. that young chinese doctor near pyramid, should be dr edwin chang is also one such doctor. they are GPs in the first place but they provide skin treatment mainly focussing on the aesthetic side but they can treat skin diseases just like any other GPs. yes they might know more about dermatology than some other GPs but most GPs can treat common skin diseases anyways, e.g., acne vulgaris, psoriasis, eczema, etc.

then why do they have dermatologists?
well, most skin problems look more or less the same. treatment is generally limited to creams and tablets.
dermatologists would have studied more into various skin diseases and would have seen many other patients with skin problems. so they can easily identify or sort out those skin diseases which tend to look similar. some more serious skin diseases need to be hospitalized, so some are based in the hospitals or would have admitting rights in the hospitals. patients also feel they are in good hands with the dermatologist as some skin diseases are chronic problems, e.g, psoriasis or eczema, they won't be cured but their problem might be in better control with the dermatologist.

LP Tan was listed first in the first post, but after that no one mentioned her anymore.

Well, for me I think she is over-rated and might ask you to do more expensive procedures when cheaper/simpler will do.

Also, I tried her diamond exfoliation thing. Honestly I noticed no difference. Might as well have just scrubbed my face with a rough towel. But she kept saying, "Better, right? Better, right?" as if trying to psycho me.

She also dismissed a friend's allergic reaction from an animal bite as nothing.

Girls, just want to share . I have been battling acne for many many years...went to many drs and wasted tons on treatments/medication...

if there is anything out there in the market, name it ive tried it...I know it is frustrating..but but but ALWAYS REMEMBER, there is no MIRACLE TREATMENT or DRUG or SKINCARE...your acne won't go away miraculously unless you are a menopause or you take ocp's. That's one thing Ive learnt over the past few years..sad.gif very sad but true... The only thing we can do is to prevent your skin from breaking out like mad...

for me I have been seeing this skin dr in this clinic, christina chea clinic at usj taipan . To be honest, I find her very knowledgeable , nice and honest...the only downside, some might find it pricey...but to me, pricing is still reasonable cuz she uses top quality products...unlike some drs out there who charges u like mad but give u cheapo stuffs...

been seeing i think close to 4 years already and until now eventhough my skin is clear I am still seeing her for maintenance purpose..She treated my problem using microdermabrasion ( very frequent ) initially , proper skincare and also gluthathione injection...I put in a lot of effort and patience, although the results weren't immediate but it did solve my problem. Now my skin is clear with the occasional few breakouts, to me that is 1000000 gazillion times better than having a face full of acne and scars sad.gif

So for you girls battling acne out there, always REMEMBER THERE IS NO 100% CURE TO ACNE unless your hormones are at controlled levels( ie menopause stage ) or taking birth control pills ( not a long term solution unless ur gona take it for the next 10 years cuz of rebound efffect )...you can only control it by keeping your skin clean, going for proper treatment and good hardworking skincare routine.....

Retinoids for Acne
If you have moderate to severe acne that hasn't been helped by other treatments, adding a topical retinoid to your regimen may help other treatments work better. Applied to the skin, retinoids can unclog pores, allowing other topical medications to enter and reach problem areas better.

They also help reduce acne outbreaks by preventing dead cells from clogging pores. By clearing acne and reducing outbreaks, they may also reduce the formation of acne scars. An oral retinoid also helps treat oil production, bacteria associated with acne, and inflammation.

I dont know if this thread is still active. But for anyone that is suffering from acne. ROACCUTANE is the best drug there is out there right now hands DOWN. Take it from someone like me, i know, coz i suffered from acne for years .... all those over the counter pills, creams yada yada yada are ALL BS. Tea Tree oil ? Dalacin T ? Pro active solutions ? i tried them all .... the acne ALWAYS comes back, and when they do, they become more powerful than ever, probably due to they growing resistance towards watever i was using before.
SO again, guys and gals .... IF you are suffering from ACNE, trust me, i know how you feel, LIKE SHIT, coz tats how i felt, so TRUST ME on this, RO ACCUTANE is the way to go. This drug doesnt kill the acne the traditional method, it works by STARVING the little critters, you see, wat this drug does is it control your oil production on your skin, thus you will experience dry skin and lips, so when ur oil productions is lessen, the little bastards will starve to death and eventually you will have clear skin, usually it takes about 8~12 months. And since it doesnt directly kill the bacteria, it have no chance to build up any sort of resistance, pure genius, whoever created this drug.
And, yes i have read comments on top saying that their acne actually worsen during the first few months of using this drug, guys and gals, i am no doctor, but i really think that is NORMAL, coz my acne got worst as well during the first 3 months of using this drug, then eventually, everything cleared up, thank GOD. So just persevere okay guys and gals, dun jump to conclusion so fast. Oh and for the record, i took the drug when i was 26, and i have been acne free ever since(TOUCH WOOD !!), today, im 33 years old. GOOD LUCK !! i hope my post will enlighthen and help some of u guys and gals out there :-)

P/S: I had to add this info in as well, DONT just rely on drugs alone, often times its our lifestyle that aggravate and promote acne growth on our already acne prone skins, sure u can blame genetics and all .... but tough luck guys, your born with shitty acne prone skins, nothing we can do about it right ? so just practise a healthy lifestyle and combine that with good acne drugs ... God willing, you will be acne free in no time. And by healthy lifestyle i mean SLEEP EARLY !! EAT LOTS OF VEGE AND FRUITS AND DRINK LOTS OF WATER !! being a gym freak like me help too tongue.gif Oh, and if anyone's wondering, the Dermatologists i would recommend is Dr.Jasmine Ruth from MEDIVIRON UOA clinic. GOOD LUCK !!

I second this. I've been battling severe acne for more than 15 years. Spent a lot of money on different regimes from pharmaceutical to herbal with no results, just more ghastly Acne outbreaks and scars. Finally decided to give Accutane a go, despite its well-known side effects. Not left with much of a choice. Took a six-month course that cost RM180 a month (30 tablets once a day), and my problems lessened dramatically. So much so that I don't really have a cleansing routine nowadays. Yes...I know, I'm lazy.

For severe cases of Acne Vulgaris, there really is no other option. Better not wait 15 years, the pain, embarassment and suffering is just not worth it.

I was misdiagnosed by Dr Ranjit Singh, it is psoriasis Not eczema, he put me on oral steroids which resulted in my psoriasis getting worst. Corticosteroids taken by mouth (oral) often lead to severe rebound psoriasis (psoriasis that returns and is worse than before treatment). Oral corticosteroids are rarely used to treat psoriasis. http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-tre...s-for-psoriasis My health has been severely affected by the steroids' side effect (weight gain, moon face, buffalo shoulder, etc), I suffered from frequent fall because my size 5 feet can't take my weight (hospitalized once after I fell down and knocked my head). My moon face just doesn't go away, it is just so depressing looking like a puffer fish, my hands and feet look so horrible that I tried to avoid being in public as much as possible. I have tried almost everything and spent a fortune trying to lose the steroids fat but to no avail. My bipolar depression has relapsed. Now the psoriasis has progressed to Psoriasis Arthritis which made me difficult to walk, and work. I lost my job. If Dr Ranjit Singh prescribed the correct medication in the first place, my psoriasis would not be as bad as it is now. I am now seeking help from MP of my area.
