Hi Fifi85 Thanks for your comment. Like I mentioned, its still in planning stage. We are exploring this line. (Tired of working for others). This is totally different field from where we came from. I think we may have to start with oyster and trying some other type of mushroom too. I know it won't be easy and lots of hard work but whatever effort we put in will be ours.

Have you found a suitable location to cultivate? Have you undergo some mushroom cultivation seminar?

Hi Edyek Been doing some research over the net and calling company that is providing mushroom cultivation courses. Am still looking for mushroom cultivation course, call up one company this afternoon but there is no plan to conduct courses for the time being 8 ( . In Malaysia the most popular variety is the oyster mushroom so we may have to start with this (easy to grow) while trying our hand on other species. It should be a good idea to deviate from the norm but for a start you need to produce something where there is a large market. But I understand that this variety's price have been dropping due to the large supplies even thought the demand is still there. As for the location there's several option including one in the south.
Besides mushroom, we are also looking at other options. Our objective is to be on our own and not working for others anymore.

QUOTE(edyek @ Sep 28 2010, 06:43 PM) Have you undergo some mushroom cultivation seminar? One of my customer purchase building materials from me to build a mushroom farm. Was able to spend some time chatting with him. You need technical for this.. agricultural technicality.... as well as location`s ambient criteria. else, you need to spend a lot of money to artificially emulate it

Blindspot, I think the keywords here are precision.... it is akin to my previous hobby.. reefing.... A minute change in certain parameter(temp, Na2, Na3, Ph etc) would jeapordise the whole system... I`ve wasted about 20-30k on that particular hobby alone... Cheers

You can try to cultivate some at the back of your house before you start on a location that needs more money to be pump in to start the cultivation farm.

Just for info: For those who interested to start mushroom cultivation can get help from government as they provide free workshop, from seedling until harvesting. You may also join mushroom association malaysia, all the big players are members. They're willing to share, and if you interested, can start as their contract farmer as well.
