Just back from Kia showroom ~~~

gonna test drive this coming weekend ^^

so far i seen the interior ... quite satisfied with it ~~ ^^

However the sales man told me .. full tank of RM 100 can only go up til 600km (SX version with 17inch rims)... sigh ....

how disappointing

Ermm ermm ...

Since the price of 1.6 SX is 82k .. roughly the same with Vios E spec.. therefore I'm considering between this 2 ... and therefore comparing the FC between this 2..

Vios ... full tank RM 70 vs 500km ?

Forte .. full tank RM 90 vs 600 km / RM 70 vs 450km ?

My expectation of Forte perhaps is somewhere slightly worst than Vios a little  unsure.gif  unsure.gif

it is not accurate to compare with a car with same price...

Need to take note that

1. forte is 1.6
2. forte is bigger and heavier then vios, thus need more power to get it move...so more fuel....

think should compare to other 1.6 car to do beachmark.

It reallt depends on what you what to choose from this 2 car...but think twice, does the higher FC really coz you alot more money monthly?? if yes, properly you want to choose a car base on fuel economy, but if not, y dun you choose a bigger, more comfotable, safer car??

So this thread is strictly ONLY for Forte owners and not possible future Forte Owners ??

Where else is more suitable to ask for opinion from existing Forte owners beside this thread ?

Funny how you relate people who is comparing which car to buy versus maturity of a human being (let alone asking opinion from a pastor)  thumbup.gif

camon guys, i think there are really ppl like PhilHellmuth are still confusing over which car to buy, so we try to help ....dun because he compare forte to vios then we accuse he come kacau.....competition bring improvement......

only for those "monkeys" really come to kacau one we should just ignore "IT".......

Thanks man for ur advise  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

What i was offered by this SA :

1.6 SX - 81,600
1 full tank of petrol
1 steering lock
200 rebate on air cool tint

Thats all he offer me .

Is it a reasonable offer or can i get a better 1?
*
i seen more better offer, but really depends on dealer...for me only get tint voucher.....
but as i mention before, some dealer like to bullshit on waiting period.
for me, better if the dealer with ready stock rather then those give tons of free gift but not the car......for wat.....

don't use any vehicle is safest bet to avoid all situations..... gated shift without locks been around since Rolls Royce time now only u wanna say is not safe ? koreans didn't invent the gated shift ok.....

like this best not buy any car with E-throttle else end up like T tak boleh stop...... also What If mah.......

everyone knows KIDS are not for front even back in the seventies
just Msian's don't know lor what to do then they complain why this why no that safety when its us humans that are the idiots .
*
cool down bro KFC, it is not about the gated shift gear is not safe, it is about whether adding feature like depress break pedal to shift to "R" is safer......

i googled, and wiki mention that if accidenly shift to R when going high speed, the transmission might damage.....
so for my2 cents, it will be safer if we need to press break pedal when shift to "R"....

Added on April 25, 2010, 4:41 pmdid you guys feel forte is not smart enough to downshifting it self when need it?

i need to press really hard until max then only will downshift.....bit different from the other auto car i drive.

but lucky got shiftronic......

Gearbox wise, just don't expect too much with the Forte's box as it's probably one of the downsides to this otherwise brilliant package. Without the shiftronic, you'd want to kick its arse to get it moving. I'm using shiftronic full time now, the full auto mode is just too sluggish in up/downshifting.

Forte's auto gear box is dumb in the sense that it upshifts too early from 2nd to 3rd once the speed hits 30-40kmh mark and the torque dip kicks in... the lag is very significant to the extent of annoying. Downshifting has a problem as well - try turning 90degree corners at speeds >40kmh and you'll notice that the box struggles to decide whether to downshift to 2nd gear or maintain in 3rd. Most of the time it'll stay in 3rd but once you exit the corner you'll get the torque dip again. What I normally do is brake hard early, downshift to 2nd, and accelerate + upshift once exiting the corner.

Using shiftronic to upshift from 2nd to 3rd when your speed hits 50kmh (and at 65-70kmh for 3rd to 4th) will maintain acceleration much better, although keep doing that your FC will suffer.

Having said that, the shiftronic mode is quite sensitive that if you upshift at the wrong rpm or upshift when you're pressing the gas hard, it'll shriek loudly for a split second as the tacho needle shoots up like an amateur does using a manual box.

There is an ECU upgrade available by Kia to improve the autobox, but not sure whether it is available in Msia, or Australia for now. Should be.
I'm actually too used to the 2.0L's acceleration now that I don't feel that it's as quick as before... Want 2.4L now or the Optima's 2.0GDI Turbo. tongue.gif
*
hopefully Kia will get the ECU upgrade available to us soon......our 1.6 lagi felt the torque dip.... cry.gif
