As for protection, I'm not sure if I want to cover it in any case right now. After looking at Steve's explanation of the stainless steel band around the side of the iPhone acting like huge antennas, covering it with a case ,even Apple's Bumper case may negate some of the advantage of having that unique antennae construction. i wonder if the bumper helps improve the grip since it's not rounded like the previous 3G/S
