Input accepted.

To put into perspective, the band should play what the audience want, because people want to relate to it. It's a learning from the super awesome Fukuyama singing Macross 7 songs at AFA09, but no one being able to cheer on. Sad. Really Sad.

Occasionally there will be songs that band members want to play i.e. Kimi ni Todoke (Steno), haruhi songs & Yasashii Usou (Eccen), Tsubasa o Kudasai (Misao), Again (Nacchan), Meguriai & Yokan (my requests), Don't Say Lazy and Listen (Yuki). I mean collectively we did influence the list.

The rest of the members - NOIR, ye need one! Brian also (I hear ye Macross 7 songs... need an uber singer for that tongue.gif) .

Upcoming songs for the masses - Bad Apple (Touhou), Gaban OP.

We will also want to 're-arrange' songs rather than playing plain covers.

Lastly. The band has only been around since March... it's young (ad its members are young)... need time to gel.

Ok, after giving some thought:

1. We do need to take some time off to revitalize. If we go into another event as is, I don't think we'll improve.

2. We need to go back to the objective - to manifest what other ordinary anime fan could not do i.e. play the music we love. We need to recognize the music changes every year. Unless there's a strong request from the crowd to keep some of the older songs, we should move on

3. We also need to reach a certain level of quality before attempting to entertain people. I'm sure there are those who appreciate what we play. But I am not convinced that everyone is entertained. Like many of you mentioned before, we can definitely play music, but we really have not 'performed'. I want people to go ape shit when we play. I want people to cry when we play. We're not there yet.

4. Having said that, we need to be realistic. The songs we play are of moderate to HARD (especially for the vocals). We need to realize that the best music is when the ability matches the difficulty. Asking Nacchan to sing Sobakasu often will kill her voice. Therefore for future requests, please consider if the musicians can play it well.

ROADMAP

A. To understand were to go, one must know where he/she is. Below are the grades assigned to the songs we have
1. God Knows - music is 9/10, vocal is 8/10
2. Lost My Music - music is 9/10, vocal is 8/10
3. Yasashii Uso - music is 6/10, vocal is 6/10 <- the song is a 'harmony' of voices, and the music should be 'supportive', not 'flamboyant'
4. Tsubasa o Kudasai - same as above
5. Kimi ni Todoke - music is 7.5/10, vocal is 7/10 <- We need to find a way to sing that bridge. Music needs to be more 'yasashii'
6. Sobakasu - music is 9/10, vocal is 6.5/10 <- I think it's hurting Nacchan
7. Yokan - music is 7/10, vocal is 7/10 <- dunno, I need other people's opinion on how I sing
8. Meguriai - music is 7/10, vocal is 7/10 <- same comment on vocal. As for music, we need to play the full version.
9. Listen - music is 6/10, vocal is ???(Yuki) - drummer still needs to sync the proper timing
10. Again - (untested)

B. Where do we go from here?
1. Eliminate 'songs that do not match our ability' or 'has very little fan support'
a) Sobakasu
b) Meguriai *
c) Yasashii Uso
d) Tsubasa o Kudasai

(* sad really, this is a /AS/ favourite)

2. Improve the remaining songs
a) God Knows and Lost My Music is still there, but we won't play them unless requested
b) Kimi ni Todoke
c) Yokan
d) Listen
e) Again

How to improve? Back to basics. In order to play performance, the guideline is to be able to record a perfect piece. For a band, it means going to a recording studio and record (audio and video) until we are satisfied with the results. I propose to have an every second-last-Saturday-of-the-month outing to a studio of our choice - play, record and distribute the recordings to all members so that we can identify areas of improvement. The proposed dates:
a) 24 Jul
b) 21 Aug Canceled (fasting month)
c) 18 Sep 25Sep (need to consider people going to open houses during Aidilfitri
d) 23 Oct
e) 20 Nov (I'm out though... vacation)
f) 18 Dec

3. Need to add more 'closer to fan' songs... yeah... even if it means playing Bleach/Naruto
a) Bad Apples
b) Gavan OP
c) (a Naruto/Bleach song)
d) Angel Beats? (dreaming to play Brave Song, GDM version...)
e) (More male songs)

4. We also need to find or improve individual talent.

5. We need to find a better way to control our electronics (audio balancing). UltimaweaponX to become a conductor?

Ok guys... provide yer input.

Well if we're expecting female singers, we can draw from songs we already know... hard to learn new ones in 2 days (working). Since we've not trained up a replacement for eccen, that leave us with... K-On songs...
a) Don't Say Lazy
b) Listen

I can already play No Thank You (simplified... heck it's simple already)

As for the song list... I've personally only finished practicing...
-Yokan Full
-Meguri Ai
-Gavan Op

BTW, it starts 9am at my place - food provided.

Part of the discussion includes identifying things needed to record. We solved Noir's setup last Friday with the purchase of the keyboard. We now need to mic up the drums. Most guitarist and bass players here have recorded their pieces. We need the drums and keyboard.

The setup should allow him to do personal recordings just like how maboroshi does with his pieces.

As for time, he's definitely not as busy as 'someone'. Plus due to close proximity, he can just come by at night.

Hey,I have a problem in recording here...I have recorded my guitar cover using audacity 1.3 beta...
The problem is there is only audio,no video...how do i combine with video and audio?
I dunno what software to use for my webcam either..=[
Pls help me..><
*
I use a combination of audio recording on Audacity, and video recording on my cellphone (LG Viewty). The video is transferred to a PC.

a) Download Virtualdub (it's free, google it)

b) If the video is in a format that is not in *.avi format, then use All2AVI software (also downloadable free from sourceforge) to convert to AVI, OR load the file in Virtualdub using a script called AVIsync

c) Load the video in Virtualdub, then at 'Audio' menu, choose "Audio from another file". Next is the tricky part. You will need to go to 'Audio', 'Interleaving' then at Audio skew correction, add (+xxxx) or subract (-xxxx) in milisecond the amount of time you need to offset to match the video. This takes trial and error.

d) Finally, before you 'Save as AVI', go to 'Video', 'compression' then select a suitable compression to save the AVI file as (otherwise the file will be uncompressed (GBs) and takes too long to upload to utube). I use ffdshow. If you do not have the codec on yer computer, install k-lite or cccp codec packs.

Hey,still i cant find the software All2AVI software in sourceforge wor....and I run script on video that time they say error..Aikx.

My apologies. Should be AllToAvi from sourceforge.

Having said that, it's not fool proof.

Lastly if yer really bogged down, upload the pieces into a file server such as mediafire and I/we can download and combine the video and audio for you
