QUOTE(soulfly @ Mar 3 2007, 11:04 AM) FP-Y5 Rev.B is the most overclockable so far. As for FP-C4... not too sure which rev. is the best, but some are just average and some are good. How to identify the revision? I can check the chipset model, but i don't know how to check the revision. How to check?

Just bought a 1 gig kingston with hynix d43 chip ddr400
by default it's 3.0CL 4 4 8
before this im using geil 512 blue ram running at 2.5 CL 3 3 6
so far everything alright i manage to run it at CL 2.5 3 3 6 11 running at 224 mhz(ddr448) which is 280 FSB for my amd sempron 1600 at 2.2 gig from 1.6 gig.
and running 1T
jz some question... is the timing lower the better and faster let say cl 2.5 or cl 2.0 with 3 3 6 11? or cl 2.5 3 3 5 11?
Is it the best im running CL 2.0 2 2 5 11 ?
i notice it dont make any difference.
please enlighten me..thanx

Logically tighter timing should perform better than loose timing.. This post has been edited by zamree7: Mar 22 2007, 07:44 PM

Maybe .2-0.3sec faster (more or less). In my case from CL-5 to CL-3 is about .3sec diff. But u need to feed more vDimm if really wanna run with tight lanterncy. Sometimes also depends on ur chipset, some RAM chips which are favor high voltage can go higher clock speed and lower lanterncy (faster), some lousy chipset just cant be o'c much although u pump it with higher vDimm. It depends on luck also. This post has been edited by yehlai: Mar 22 2007, 08:14 PM

Tight timing will be giving better result in Super PI compare to loose timing as more bandwidth.I think this should be the same within AMD and Intel system. If you want faster result have to pump in more voltage for your RAM already, else just run it in looser timing. In reality there are not much difference.

You can overclock if your motherboard support overclocking features. What you mean the type ? Any DDR can do overclocking but just depends how far they can go.
