Not to mention it would look pretty unsightly if everyone on the same road did the same thing. So, to be fair to everyone...

QUOTE(brotan @ Apr 2 2010, 04:14 PM) btw, does this rules applies to awning ? i see lots of ppl extend their awning right up to the front according to building act, any structure that is erected on your carpark compound as long as they are not in the original floor plan, you are require to apply for permit, otherwise be prepare to be tear down once serve with summon within 3 days from the date of issue. You need to tear them down yourself or the local majlis will help to tear it down with bulldozer, it won't look nice, and they will charge the bill to you. Or if you are really bad luck, your neighbour complaint about your awning to local majlis, then you need to take down also or else majlis will help u take them down, very troublesome.Added on April 2, 2010, 4:15 pm malaysian mah This post has been edited by Tohsan: Apr 2 2010, 04:46 PM |

USUALLY the local councils don't take action against these illegal structures because houseowners = voters and they don't wanna piss off the voters.
Same rule applies to awning, but ppl do it because awning is cheap to tear down. But in my opinion awning is even worse and really makes the neighbourhood ugly. Not to mention noisy when it rains. |

QUOTE(brotan @ Apr 2 2010, 02:56 PM) QUOTE(zeese @ Apr 2 2010, 03:34 PM) I think, the reason is, your neighbour has the right to receive sunlight, wind, or even rain. Its call air right. If you build a porch until the front gate, you're blocking above elements.. QUOTE(joey85 @ Apr 2 2010, 04:25 PM) There are many cases in Malaysia whereby there are alot of illegal things that you can see around your neighbourhood and yet the authority is not taking any actions. But bear in mind that, who knows one day some crazy Minister/Department says "THIS YEAR, We are going to sweep all the houses with illegal extension." Sames goes to illegal immigrants. Seeing them coming in to Malaysia without quota for the past few years, then with all the sudden, Immigrants Department set a quota and start to take sweeping action to sweep all those plantation & construction sectors. |
