I'm also using Delux for my backyard skylight - signed up during the Perfect Living in April 11. Product: Sukaiyo solid sheet at RM18 psf with mild steel structural frame.

So far I'm satisfied with their after sales service, as I've called twice to complain on the leaking of the polycarbonate. Both time, they were quick to resolve the issue. Installation quality was so so, not impressed because it shouldn't be any leaking in the first place.

But I like the Sukaiyo solid sheet (imported from Japan) which I got it at RM18 psf. The quality is better than local solid sheets which are about the same price too.

I did asked for the wrought iron grilles, but their pricing were on the high side. At the end, I engaged Ivy from Three Kim for my gate and grilles. smile.gif

No installation charge or transportation fee. I opted for powder coated mild steel as my husband didn't like the flowery wrought iron. Quoted RM11.50 per sf for window and RM12.50 psf for sliding door, using flat bar.

I know a number of people got taken in by the special offer of 19rm/sq ' in home exhibitions to install polycarbonate skylight for their homes. The job was so badly done. Structure so flimsy had to be taken down. Few months later it was already rusting. Another friend of mine decided not to install after seeing the poor workmanship and she opted for the company to landscape her garden instead because she could not get a refund on her deposit. So beware! Don't put downpayment unless you really know what you are getting.

Rule of thumb is the choose more reputable companies ie Delux, Deskylight, CSA, etc during these exhibitions. Smaller companies might not be able to cope with in flux of sales, therefore bad installation as every job is 'touch and go'..

Your friends should complain to the vendor, the skylight should still be within the warranty period.

For Delux, it is giving me a 10 years warranty on the skylight, so I have no worries.. Next question: Will Delux still be around for the next 10 years? Yes, I think so..

weikee,
1. The mild steel swing gate is not powder coated or galvanised? It's about RM130 psf, so if it's powder coated, then it's a good deal.

2. Mild steel fencing - no comment, as I didn't do it

3. Mild steel door grille wt powder coated @ RM14 psft - I got mine at RM13.50 psf, using THK1.2 19mm

4 and 5 - no comment

6. Mild steel window grille wt powder coated and angle frame @ RM11 psf - Mine is RM11.50 psf, using THK1.2 19mm.

So, your pricing is not too bad.

How's the workmanship?
Be careful - what u pay is what u get!
I've seen grilles with bad workmanship

I am a happy customer of Three Kim too. I wouldn't say they are the cheapest, as I had cheaper quotes. No doubt, their workmanship is good and there are many vendors with good workmanship too. But what I like most about Three Kim, the thing that sets them apart of others is their service. Both Ivy and Kenment are down to earth, prompt, efficient and honest in their business dealings.

Eg: I've ordered a wrought iron gate with hot dip galvanised and powder coated. During the installation, Ivy noticed that the gate is mild steel gate instead of wrought iron. She called me immediately, apologised for the mistake, and asked me if I can accept the mild steel gate. If I can, then she will reissue an invoice based on the mild steel price. If not, she has to re-do the whole gate.

To me, both wrought iron and mild gate look so alike and I couldn't tell the difference. But due to Ivy's honesty, a good relationship is established, I don't mind to accept the error made.

After installation, their services did not end there. I have called them twice to touch up on minor detects and they came to touch up without hesitations. This type of service is priceless!

Many LYN members wrote in to vouch for Three Kim because we appreciate their service and effort, an SME like that deserves to be recognised for being a good vendor. Other LYN members can use Three Kim as a benchmark when getting quotations. Don't settle for anything less!
